Are you tired of playing with the same old group of friends? Or of spending hours on quickplay jamming with random people who only have 3 dlc tracks and struggle to finish a song on easy? Do you wish you could branch out and try a new instrument, or play something besides the same 20 songs everybody plays online? Then Camp Freddy is just what you're looking for!

We're not a band, we're a group of friends, all of whom are expert players with lots of dlc, who are looking for good times. And we're always looking for new people to join up. Got a particular song you want to play, but no one else does? We'll play anything! Got a favorite instrument that you never get to play with your regular band? We're all multi-instrumentalists, we're happy to bump over so you can have a turn playing what you want!

Maybe you don't care about that stuff, maybe you just want to score lots of points, rule the leaderboards, and impress all the ladies/dudes? That's fine too! Look up Freddy on rbstats. Look up a few of our individual members while you're at it. We may be all about good times, but that doesn't mean we don't routinely annihilate high scores left and right.

So what are you waiting for? Wanna join the camp? All you have to do is play expert, have a decent amount of dlc, and be willing to play anything that anybody else wants to play. Just send anyone of us an invite, its that easy! If you aren't playing with us, you must not like having fun, scoring points, earning gold, and just generally being awesome.

Here's our roster, and its growing every day:

man I have been slapped in the face with a FishHead.... Ewok that's a character from star wars and as far as I know they don't rock... Maybe I should go talk to Lois and Peter and chat with them about Stewy's attitude. ;-)

Great song this week and thanks to the man who beat's up guitars and keeps manufacturing going for the request. Your doing a great job for our economy Gusano311....

"My Sharona" is the debut single by The Knack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Knack), released in 1979 from their album Get the Knack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Get_the_Knack). It reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billboard_Hot_100) singles chart where it remained for six weeks and was #1 on Billboard's Top Pop Singles of 1979 year-end chart. It was certified gold (one million units sold) by the Recording Industry Association of America (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recording_Industry_Association_of_America).

Inspiration and legacy

According to lead singer/guitarist Doug Fieger (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug_Fieger), he met Sharona Alperin (who was 16 at the time) and she inspired a two-month-long run of songwriting. "It was like getting hit in the head with a baseball bat; I fell in love with her instantly. And when that happened, it sparked something and I started writing a lot of songs feverishly in a short amount of time." Whenever he thought about her, he would think of Averre's riff. The two worked out the structure and melody from there. Sharona appears on the picture sleeve for the single, and became a major booster of the band bringing many girls to their early shows.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Sharona#cite_note-0) Sharona Alperin is now a real estate agent in Los Angeles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles), California (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California). [1] (http://www.mysharona.com/)
The easily recognizable riff (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riff) of "My Sharona" was written by the band's guitarist, Berton Averre (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berton_Averre), long before he ever joined The Knack.
The song's bright, driving bassline, played mainly in G octaves, appears in the playlist of many aspiring bass players, often cited as a superb technical example of its genre.
In 1994, "My Sharona" re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billboard_Hot_100) chart (peaking at #91) when it was released as a single from the Reality Bites (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reality_Bites) soundtrack album.
Dave Grohl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Grohl) of the Foo Fighters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foo_Fighters) has stated on more than one occasion that "My Sharona" is his favorite song. His earlier band Nirvana (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nirvana_%28band%29) even did a live cover of it. The original song gained some attention in 2005 when it appeared on the playlist of U.S. President (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._President) George W. Bush (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_W._Bush)'s iPod (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod).[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Sharona#cite_note-CNN-1)
The song was ranked at #75 on the Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Songs in 2008. [2] (http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/specials/hot100/charts/top100-titles-80.shtml)

Parodies

The song was parodied by "Weird Al" Yankovic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%22Weird_Al%22_Yankovic) as "My Bologna (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Bologna)". The Knack approved of the parody and even had the younger singer inked to one-off deal with their label, Capitol Records (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitol_Records). A re-recorded version appeared on his debut album "Weird Al" Yankovic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%22Weird_Al%22_Yankovic_%28album%29).

The Chicago radio personality Steve Dahl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Dahl) parodied the song as "Ayatollah" (following the Iranian Revolution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_Revolution) of 1979).

In their sarcastic, anticapitalist song Pull My Strings (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pull_My_Strings), The Dead Kennedys (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dead_Kennedys) parodied "My Sharona" as "My Payola (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Payola)".

Wooo, a Bonnaroo pack. When I saw this I was hoping for some Ani Difranco, Wilco, Government Mule, and Dillinger Escape Plan, but I think they hit a home run with the bands that they added. These are the kind of packs I like and was very anxious to play them.

First off, to the band I was waiting for TV on the Radio, guitar and bass were a mess, do not like it. HMX curse in full effect. Watching BC drum it, it looked like a very fast repetitive drum chart. Not much fun as well. I'm not even attempting to sing it.

Shooter Jennings' song for Rock Band is another country entry to Rock Band. Not being a fan of the genre, again it plays very well for Rock Band. Thouroughly enjoyed the guitar and the bass. Drums looked a little bit on the boring side. Something Funk could full combo with his feet.

Coheed and Cambria: how is that not a chick singing is beyond me. My friend, Sebrun, told me the vocal charts were pretty cool. Guitar charts were strum-fests that were pretty cool. A little disappointed, no solos because Welcome Home was always one of my favorites. To quote a friend of mine, Coheed and Cambria a little dorky in the real world, but play very well in the game.

Ben Harper and the Relentless 7: Wow! This was a shock how fun it was on guitar, drums and bass. Vocals I think if your'e a singer as well. Great sounding song.

Phish: As big as Phish is, how many fans they have, this is the first time I have ever heard a song from this band. I am not a jam band person. The Grateful Dead songs I did not want from Rock Band, but after playing them are my favorites. So, I was assuming Phish would be the same. And I was right on only 1 account. The song is so freakin' fun to play. And it is really awesome to listen to. I might actually buy a Phish CD. I thouroughly enjoyed this track and the charts.
To sum up my week's review, I give this week a 9 out of 10. Bass players I really think you should get the Phish for some absolute bass fun. (B.C. agrees). Drummers as well.

Enjoy. Discuss. I am looking forward to my partner's in crime reviews and news to abuse. And Bigfish would be crazy not to pick Phish. ha ha.

Not much point in a dlc review this week since I feel pretty similar to gusano about this pack, but whatever, I'll do one anyway.

The Shooter Jennings dlc plays like every other country song in the game: really engaging guitar chart, bass and drum charts that are on the easy side, but have enough bells and whistles to keep you entertained.

Shimmer & Shine is pretty fun all the way around. Again, not outstandingly tough, but enjoyable. It does have a quick drum solo at the beginning of the song, so drummers may want to take a look at it.

Anyone expecting Welcome Home pt. 2 may want to steer clear of the Coheed & Cambria tracks. They're mostly lots and lots of altstrumming, which I tend to get bored with, but these charts do give you a few breaks from all the monotony, so I guess I'm ok with this stuff. Drums are nothing special. Neither track is as fun on guitar as Welcome Home was, and neither track is as fun for the whole band as Ten Speed was, but they're good enough to justify spending your cash on.

Wolf Like Me was the song I was looking forward to the most this week, so of course its one of the blandest charts we've had in a while  Nothing but altstrumming on either instrument. The guitar chart has a little more to do than the bass, simply because the rate at which you're strumming speeds up and slows down through out the song, but you're still essentially doing the same thing. Drums aren't any better. The song has a pattern that I can't recall seeing in the game before, but its the only beat you're going to play and it gets old quick. I really get annoyed when hmx takes a band's most well known song, even though it plays horribly in the game, over something less popular but more suited to rock band. I understand the economics behind that sort of a decision, but I still find it aggravating. I'm happy TV On The Radio is finally in the game, but much like Doolittle, once the novelty of playing one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands wears off, I'm not going to touch this one very often.

The Phish song is clearly the best out of the pack. The bass chart is outstanding, and the guitar one is nearly as great. Drums are lots of fun also, with some really fast rolls and fills thrown in to keep it from getting too easy. I'd say this is one of those songs that's easy to beat on every instrument, but finessing it may take a little work. I'm not crazy about how much time in this song is spent doing nothing but sitting around and listening to the crowd yell "Wiiiiiiiiilllllllllsssooonnnnnnn," but that's a minor complaint really. Mostly I'm just happy to finally have some Phish in the game.

So summing up, everyone should get the Phish song, its lots of fun on all instruments. Wolf Like Me can be avoided. The rest is good enough to be worth getting, just don't expect anything amazing. Not a great week, but definitely a good one.

Happy Monday everyone. Lot of great scores this week. I personally struggled with this song. It is a long song and my arm hurts after playing it awhile. It is one of my favorite song's.

I have to say what a great group of people the freddy's are. I have not known everyone long but the interactions I have had already with everyone I have played with has always been a pleasurable experience. I have nothing but respect for you and think you are all very talented.

I have watched the Freddy camp grow and grow. It has come up this week that we need some rules.

We always welcome new people to play with and are always out to just have fun. Scoring and playing is part of that.

If you want to become a member of the Camp freddy phenom then have the respect to play.

We have a some people who will drop out during set's and it makes it difficult on other player's. there are network problem's from time to time and things do happen. If they happen on a continuous basis then you will not be invited into the group.

For the purpose's of this Bass contest I am going to have a rule that this contest is only open to players who are listed as a member of Camp Freddy.

If you make it on the list then you are worthy and part of Freddy Family.

So play your best and play with respect and most important have FUN!!!

The Phish song is clearly the best out of the pack. The bass chart is outstanding, and the guitar one is nearly as great.

You sir, are insane. This is hardly what i would call outstanding charts. The bass, with the exception of a few noodly HO/PO parts that we both love, plays only slightly more interesting than "What'cha Want". The high point of the guitar charts is the solos. Even those, unlike my golf game, are sub-par.

Only got 2 bucks? Skip dinner on the value menu and get yourself the one RockBand DLC that everyone should have! I will be posting a weekly editorial highlighting the weeks biggest catch!

This Week -
A Favor House Atlantic - Coheed and Cambria

I was really hoping for some real surprises this week, going in unfamiliar with any of the new offerings. Sadly none of the songs impressed except for one. But let me be honest. I don't ever have a friggin clue what these guys are talking about. From what I understand all their music is an ongoing saga of the characters from the band's name. Now if i could just get someone to interpret the lyrics into a story i could understand i might be down with this high concept. Regardless, A Favor House Atlantic gets the nod. Here is why...

Guitar - It's a little strummy, but changes up quite a bit throughout enough not to get boring. It feels like it's a song with a purpose. I love the melodic note picking toward the end of the song. Was a little disappointed not to have an awesome solo in this one though. It's not terribly difficult, but it moves at a good clip and changes up frequently.

Bass - Pretty simple and straightforward bassline, but don't get complacent. There are a couple changes here and there that will blow by you if you aren't careful. Stay in the groove and rock this one out like a pro. Easy but enjoyable.

Drums - I really liked this one on drums. The song maintains a consistent pace throughout, but the drums switch back and forth between 4 or 5 different patterns. None of the patterns are terribly difficult in and of themselves, but the transitions between can be tricky and very satisfying once you start nailing them. Lots of fun.

Vocals - I guess part of the reason there is no guitar solo here is because this guy never stops running his mouth. But here that's not a bad thing. The vocals don't stop for more than a couple phrases at a time. I totally dig singing this one. Belting out lines like "Bye bye beautiful, don't bother to write" is a friggin blast. Especially when you turn and direct it toward your shabby girlfriend sitting disinterestedly on the couch with her book full of Sudoku puzzles most of which she leaves, like her sessions of oral copulation, incomplete. Get out of my house already!

Party - This will be one of those songs that nobody knows, but once heard people are going to wanna know who Coheed and Cambria is. Especially if you can do it justice in the performance. If you can get the rest of your band to sing along with you through the chorus, all the girlies will swoon.

Seriously though I had a blast playing along on all instruments with this one and never got tired of hearing it either. The charts all around were manageable without being boring. Simple, yet entertaining. Not to mention the song just kicks ass in general. Definitely worthy of your $2 this week. I will even go as far as to say it's worthy of an additional couple dollars to get it onto your iPod.

Hope you enjoy this weeks edition of the $2 catch of the week. Iron Maiden coming up. Love the music, but so far playing them in RockBand has just been painful. Also, no "Flight of Icarus" or "Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner". Color me disappointed. Remember mileage may vary per user, all opinions welcome. Please discuss.

Yeah but those noodly hopos are AMAZING :D

I can see why some might find Wilson monotonous, but I think that may have as much to do with having to stop every so often to yell the song's name than anything that's actually being played. When I wasn't just sitting around waiting to do something I had fun with the song. I do think they could have gone with any number of better Phish songs for the game though.

If we were talking about the song just as something to listen to I'd agree with you. Its a good live track from a band that puts on awesome shows. But from a gameplay perspective it adds up to a lot of wasted time. Three quarters of the band aren't doing anything during these parts, and the one person who is (the vocalist) isn't even doing what's actually in the song. You're singing along with the crowd, instead of singing along with Trey. Its a little bit of a cheat. Still a fun song though.

we are going heavy this week with Black Sabbath N.I.B. This is a great song on Bass.

N.I.B. (http://www.black-sabbath.com/faq/faq11.htm#faq11)
Thought to have stood for Nativity In Black or Name In Blood, the title was a nickname, Ozzy and Tony explain:
The devil falls in love with a mortal woman and becomes a good person.
The title has nothing to do with the content of the song.
"The irony about 'N.I.B.' is that everyone thinks it means 'Nativity In Black' and it doesn't.
We were all stoned in Hamburg and Bill used to have this really long, pointy beard and
I said, 'Hey, Bill, you look like a pen nib!' So when Geezer said,
'What we going to call this new song?', I said, 'Oh, call it 'N.I.B'" - Ozzy
"And we used to call Bill 'Nib' all the time then - Nibby Ward!" - Tony

ok i will attemp a summary of todays freddy action. 1st up to bat was brokenbeast, funk, diva, and bc killing some tunes. bc arm was hirting probally from slappingme to much. erock took over on bass and freddy didnt lose a step garnering some top 5 scores. then the mighty sebrun jumped to the mike with johngrr and bigfish and again nailing some awesome score. johngrr blowing up some megadeath and sebrun killing some testament. and yes bigfish bass still broken olny 100% again. then ski jumped to the mike and was his his normal fcing everything self and making his camo freddy debut was the freaking amazing pickford blowing up some rush and all that remains. like that wasnt enough we had one final jam with funk coming back to the drums ,erock back to bass and bc grabbing the mike. offcourse funk nailing everything , erock holding the groove and black cherry inventing new pixies lyrics. great day for freddy all around !! hats off to every one who played today peace out good luck on nib and who are you in the battles peace.

I started playing Guitar hero III on a laptop a couple years ago.. I really sucked then, Barely able to get through easy. Now I rock anything that comes along on expert.. It is just a matter of doing it. The more you play the better you get. It will take me awhile but I believe I can learn to sing well enough as long as I practice and stick to it. There is no failure as long as you try. If we were supposed to be good at everything in the beginning then we would not need easy, med or hard and everyone would start on expert. Can you imagine going to your first job and them expecting you to be an expert at it already. They train you for a long time and in a couple of years you are really good at the job. So don't give up and have fun.

Im pretty sure the post on 360 stole our idea for this camp, and you seem to sticky them. If theres something we gotta do just let us know.

To be fair, the only real similarity between us and them is the word "Camp." They've got this whole set up with campers and camp counselors, and groups divided into cabins and stuff. We both run challenges and contests, but they're way more organized than we are lol. Even if they did copy the camp part of what they do from us, we still can't really point fingers. We copied our name and the whole "everybody plays everything" concept from the real life Camp Freddy.

I think they're stickied because they've gotten hundreds of posts in about a month, from lots and lots of different people. Whereas if you look at the average Freddy thread, we get a few dozen posts in a month, mostly from the same half dozen people. If I was a mod I probably wouldn't sticky us either :D

ok fans.. here is all the news to abuse. We are an equal opportunity abuser so if you feel you are not being abused enough let me know and I will fix that right away.

First up is our fearful leader Gusano311.. I have done some research with the company he bought those guitars from and after they checked them out.. I was told that they found evidence of peanut butter and mojitos jamming up all the works. For one peanut butter and mojito's don't go together. And number two play rockband after you finish the peanut butter and wash your hands. it's amazing he make's it through a solo sometimes.

another rumor is that jesse has got a robotic arm helping him out on the sticks.

Fishheadstewy seems to really love the greatful dead and anytime you rock with him request it. he just cant seem to get enough.

Bigfish seems to be missing in action and has possibly been sited with bigfoot..

I saw funkdiggity recently and he seems to have put on some wieght. There is a huge possiblilty that he will be on the next season of the Biggest Loser.

Well thats it for the news.

if ya got's anything to share let me know. i'm always looking for reporters.

Here's this week's dlc review:

I wasn't looking forward to this week's dlc at all. I know a lot of people who post on these forums were pretty excited about it, but I wasn't one of them. I really don't get Iron Maiden, or really any 80's metal for that matter. Clearly, I'm not the target audience for this stuff. So you probably won't be surprised to hear that I didn't care for this week's dlc. It has its moments, but overall I'm happier without it.

I wasn't real enthused with the bass charts, not because they were bad, but because as is so often the case with bass, they were dull. Seriously, I'm wracking my brain trying to remember anything specific about them, and all I can come up with is that Powerslave was fun on bass, and Run To The Hills had the most infuriating bass chart I've ever played in this game. I can't remember anything specific about any of the other songs. Just lots of really fast strumming, and that thing that happens a lot with bass charts where you're just playing a watered down version of what the guitar player is doing. This means either there's bad charting here, or these songs just aren't that good for this particular instrument. Either way, I'm never playing these songs on bass again, and I feel sorry for any of you who will be ;)

Guitar is better. Anyone looking for a challenge will find it here. Many of these songs share the same basic template as the gnr stuff from a couple months ago: easy playing, kinda tough solo, a little bit more easiness, then another solo that's pure evil. Its not the hardest stuff we've ever been given, but it is up there, and I think a lot of people will have fun trying to get it down. Not me, mind you, I hate playing this kind of stuff, but other people, definitely.

Drums are the bright spot with these tracks. Most drummers are probably flashing back to Run To The Hills and wondering a) is that song as awful as they remember and b) is everything else that bad? The answer to both is no. These songs are all quite doable. They're tough, but not Megadeth tough. With the exception of Rtth I wouldn't even say they're Rush tough. They're fast, and the patterns are fairly complicated, some of the fills are tricky, and some of these songs have pretty abrupt changes in tempo that can be a little disorienting if you're not watching for them. But maybe just because I was expecting a pack of rtth style charts, I found these songs easier than I thought they'd be, even the red tiered stuff. Half the battle with these songs is building up the necessary speed/endurance to play them, and most expert drummers shouldn't have a problem there. Rtth is easier than it was back in the day (partly because most of us have gotten better since then, partly because most of aren't playing on ****ty rb1 drums sets, and partly because the cover has some weird changes in bpm that aren't present in the original master), and if you can handle Everlong or the chorus in Teenage Riot you should be able to handle rtth with some work.

So would I recommend this pack? Sure I guess. If you're a fan of the band you'll want this. If you like the type of guitar solos that show up in a lot of metal songs you'll want this. If you're a drummer who wants some songs that are both fast and complicated you'll want this. If you're a bass player you should go find something more interesting to play. I have no idea what Fish's pick of the week will be, but I'm going to suggest Powerslave. I'm not a fan of the band, so I don't know if this is necessarily the coolest choice, BUT, it has the only bass chart I actually enjoyed, guitar solos that were tough, but still able to be played by mere mortals, and its a red tiered drum chart that's not actually that tough, which is always fun to have.

when is to much of a good thing a BAD thing? when you get 12 iron maiden tracks in one week. do they deserve 12 maybe but not all at once. i like my packs where there is bunch off different tunes and artists. i not really a fan off the albums as well either. i feel when we get a whole bunch of the same artist the charts are being forced to add a lil something to be different from the rest off the pack. with that being said lil hammer on there extra stummy thing there just to be different from one song to the next. vocals where kinda kool but i wouldnt be singing them . bass ha lol i disagree with funk a lil bit. to me seeing maiden live there bass player shines like a mofo. he is not the best but he lays down a freaking foundation for the average guitar guys to shine and sound better then they do.maidens drumm is just freaking insane. i wouldnt try this on drums even if my name was pickford ha lol. to the charts guitar gallop gallop alt strum alt stum hammer on hammer done whammy thrillls preety much all the same nothing to me stands out like wow i need it. bass charts strum strum hammer on anchor this yada yada but olny thing thats stands out like funk said how unfun run to the hills is.i do like some 80s genremusic but never was into maiden they where a lil to d and d for me.silly me would benn much happier with a 12 pack of extreme or real guns and roses. yes there rated devil tiers but i think there rated a lil bit high on guitar lil under on bass. rock enjoy i give this week a 3 out of 10.

we are more the means of jamming and a place for friends of our friends can come jam and do some battles and talk about anything anybody wants thats a freddy. pretty much all of our members our in top 20 full bands and freddy provides a spot for they to come in jam and have some fun. so i love our set up and i feel we should get a sticky . i wish more freddys would post cause i really enjoy reading what people have to say. i learned so much. bigfish picks song funks hates. max is better then ryan seacrest. erock is insane and the best reporter ever. i cant type. bc likes songs i cant play. funk is super funny and better then roper and ebert put togather.
so we need no stinking cabins and camp counslers just our badass selfs to have fun. besides if we had a camp fire stewy be pushing every one in! yes we modeled our selfs of something in the real world. just as rockband has given us the joy of mimicking rock stars camp freddy mimicks the rock worlds all star jam band! so again thank for all our members and i have truly enjoyed jamming with every single freddy member!

Here is my view on the sticky.. A sticky is used for threads that people go to frequently. This way it is easy to find. For a thread to have a sticky it must be visited a lot and have a lot of post's. That being said Camp Freddy does get a lot of traffic but when you create a new thread after it is viewed a thousand times, it will never reach the level it needs to be, to be stickied. I will look into it further to see if this is the case. This is just my opinion and I will try to verify. The FAQ was pretty useless in this regard so I will try and get an answer from Harminox.

Btw: the best way I have found to find the Freddy thread is to use the search function and search for camp freddy... this way I don't have to drill down to find it..

Was tons of fun though. It's nice to play the songs I have either never played or never heard on RB. Especially the DL content which I rarely ever get to rock out on.

Much love for letting me join you guys today <3

Great going Mr Funk, all i was really tryna find out how you get sticky.. if we got sticky maybe we would have alot more intrest in our freddy. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Yeah I was mainly just trying to address your statement about the Camp Rock Band guys copying us, and point out that A) not exactly the case, and B) even if it is the case we're way bigger copy cats :p

E-Rock: I'd love it if we got stickied, and I agree we do have a lot of traffic on our threads, but it seems to consist almost entirely of the same few people, plus lately dcnjack (welcome dcnjack!). To my mind, having a hundred posts from the same few people over and over again isn't quite the same thing as having a hundred posts from a hundred different people. I see your point about constantly reposting the thread, but not reposting would make it pretty hard for random forum goers to discover us. We generally pick up two or three new members everytime we repost, after all. That's in addition to people who hear about us from word of mouth, or from random online jams.

bass ha lol i disagree with funk a lil bit. to me seeing maiden live there bass player shines like a mofo. he is not the best but he lays down a freaking foundation for the average guitar guys to shine and sound better then they do.

I'm sure he's awesome live, just like I'm sure they're all pretty accomplished musicians. But as we've seen many times in music games, being a talented musician doesn't always translate over into making songs that are fun to play on a videogame :D

I pick Lucky Denver Mint by Jimmy Eat World. I like the song. When I first saw it on guitar I thought, wow, tackhead must really hate playing this song, which made me love it more. lol. But, now that I taught him how to alt strum (darn it) he likes playing it now. And there's a drum solo, so I know drummers like that part, right? I know I enjoy watching others play. So, this week's Drum Challenge is Lucky Denver Mint by Jimmy Eat World. Play the song on the drums and I'll check out the scores.

The Challenge ends next Wednesday evening, June 24th.

Good luck everyone and have fun playing and enjoy the music!!!

E-Rock: I'd love it if we got stickied, and I agree we do have a lot of traffic on our threads, but it seems to consist almost entirely of the same few people, I think that there are a lot of people who browse through and don't post

To my mind, having a hundred posts from the same few people over and over again isn't quite the same thing as having a hundred posts from a hundred different people. I agree, but constantly having to find a new thread gets bothersome to. I have a blackberry that I can read the posts on and everytime we change I have to drill down to find it and then bookmark it to get back there easily. people like to come back to the same spot.

I see your point about constantly reposting the thread, but not reposting would make it pretty hard for random forum goers to discover us. ok lets try a different way. advertising that brings them to the thread. use the same format that we start each thread with but have it link back to the one Camp Freddy thread. and just keeping posting our reviews and contests there. That way the one thread builds up views and posts until they sticky it..

We generally pick up two or three new members everytime we repost, after all. That's in addition to people who hear about us from word of mouth, or from random online jams. Those will keep coming to and the reposts will take them to the one Freddy thread. it is worth a try..

Thanks for the feedback your Grand Funkiness.

What a great week for bass. thank you to all who attended. I hope you got the free Gatorade and muffin... we had a newcomer to the bass-off this week. Welcome in Jesse1367.

Here are the results for My Sharona:

9-------------Eric_1963---------177,528
29-----------funkdiggity---------171,203
32-----------Tackkead311-----170,129
43-----------Jesse1367--------168,230
94-----------FishHeadStewy--161,728
112---------BlackCherry831--158,235
140---------BigFish--------------155,566

Tips: the best way to play this song is with your index finger planted on the red key. Move up to hit the green and then move back down to hit the red with the index finger. this really helps with this song. Also hit all the notes and use overdrive when there is a lot of notes.

Great job to everyone.. we had some really close scores this week..

N. I. B. Bass-off

New player alert: JodyPounds Welcome in to the Bass-off. the player is starting it off with a bang...

145-----FishHeadStewy---133,344

The only way I had a score on who are you is because i was on easy. I failed medium. I will probably be a little better on drums. I will get better though.

Anyways for scoring I cant tell whether someone played it on expert or easy so I am not gonna try. A score is a score in my book. Most top scores are on expert and you can't get those scores even if you FC hard so I think it is up to the player to play it how ever they feel comfortable.. Some songs I love playing on hard and hate them on expert. it depends on the song.

It is all about fun and learning and improving the skills. I hope to turn this into really playing a real guitar someday.

Rock on!

You know, I was thinking...

(dangerous past time)

Since this thread does continually get passed over for stickyness (even though you all are awesome and deserve one), What would you think about making a separate forum? We'd still have to have a thread here of course to let other people know how cool Camp Freddy is and that they should join, but with a separate forum it might be easier for regular members to chat and to update the challenges and so forth.

I'm pretty handy at making forums on free servers and with graphics and such (was my second major after I got a AA in vocal performance what a waste D: ). I could easily whip something up. It might be something to try, or to think about. Either way.

I know I communicate a lot more through forums than I do through PS3. Typing is so much easier on a keyboard. xD

Just a thought. <3

Hokay! making my first recap here.

This morning we had Tack and Jesse switching off on bass and gutar, Johngrr starting off on drums and a new guy, Krtock replace him halfway through.

Grats to Camp Freddy for completing the Rock Immortal Challenge!
Yay! I got a clear mic! -dances-

As a side effect of the high of getting clear instruments, we decided to try and pull off playing Visions by Abnormality. What were we thinking?!

We made it through though! Hats off to Tack, Jesse, and Krtock for their awesome job pulling through that one. That was crazy cool to watch... as I sat there and screamed nonsense in to the microphone.
xD

If I totally got confused on who was playing what and when, please forgive me. I have no short term memory. ;_;

wow the amy lee band and spinal tap week
1st the amy lee band i think hmx did a great job picking the 3 best songs from her career. i do not see the need for anymore from amy lee. the guitar charts for bring me back to life and call me when youre sober where vanilla.the 3rd song chart which i forgot the name to was playing pain in the ass did not enjoy it at all. bass was pretty bland as well except for bring me back to life. i enjoyed the chart alot. would i want to play these songs over and over no not my cup of tea. is good for hmx hell yes.is it good for for the ladies and brand appeal hell yes.bc loved singing amy lees stuff. i had one problem about the vocal chart for bring me back to life. the dude pretty much wasnt charted execpt for 2 lines. the olny purpose i see for those 2 lines are combo breakers imo no need for him to be charted.
spinal tap my thoughts yay there in rock band but why not some origanal spinal tappage. i did like the 3 main songs they where fun and hella funny lyrics kudos to warmer then hell. on the downside i have no use for saucy jack. when i start using my guitar controller to play tuba it makes me feel like im weilding a joystick not a guitar.thats why i never play smoking or some of the nin stuff.as with alice cooper i feel with spinal tap you need to see there stage antics to send there craziness home. hmx also should also sent us a patch so we could turn our tvs up to 11.
all in all im giving this week a 4 out of 10 but i do believe spinal will be a drunken party hit.
enjoy rock hard peace out

I'm just excited to see more female singers. I have to jump octaves randomly through most of the songs cause I can't sing that low -cough-pearljam -cough-

That's when people choose lacuna coil or flyleaf or even paramore, I'm so happy! Coheed and Cambria too... even though I know it's a guy. He sings in my range.

Rockband doesn't love sopranos ;_;

Edit: just finished the three Amy Lee songs, and they made their reparations for the lack of soprano love. <3

"Simple Man" is a song by southern rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_rock) band Lynyrd Skynyrd (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynyrd_Skynyrd) from the album (pronounced 'lĕh-'nérd 'skin-'nérd) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%28pronounced_%27l%C4%95h-%27n%C3%A9rd_%27skin-%27n%C3%A9rd%29). The song ranks among the best known Skynyrd songs. It was a trademark classic done by the band, which is known for soothing country ballads and steady guitar solos. The song was composed by lead singer Ronnie Van Zant (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_Van_Zant) and guitarist Gary Rossington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Rossington).

Shortly after Ronnie Van Zant's mother and Gary Rossington's grandmother died, they got together in Van Zant's apartment and started telling stories about them. Rossington came up with a chord progression, and Van Zant wrote the lyrics based on advice the women in their lives had given them over the years. They wrote it in about an hour. The theme of the song is based on a mother sharing wisdom on the facts of life and growing up with her son. Although the lyrics proclaim this was spoken to her "only son", that wasn't the case. Van Zant had two younger brothers, a sister that his father had with another woman from his first marriage, and two younger sisters.

One of my favorite songs on rockband. i think the guitar is a bit easier. good luck..

News:

I have put together another team and this time we are going to look at the future of the freddies. I have 3 psychics a palm reader and a couple of ghost chasers. oh and a hedgehog whisperer. Don't know why he is here and why he can only deal with hedgehogs but hey it can't hurt, at least not much.

To anyone who might be interested me and stewy were discussing possable giving guitar lessons for all of you rockbandions who might want to try the real thing. As well as possably having battles with real instruments. In which you would make a video of you playing your version of a rockband song for that week and posting it. Then having people vote for there favorite. Winners would be announced accordingly. If you have an interest in this or even any good ideas send me a message and we may begin to get this set up. At least let me know if you like the idea!

Here's my take on the latest batch of dlc:

I wasn't really looking forward to anything this week. I could put my music snob hat on and rant for a while about all of the reasons I can't stand Evanescence, but I'll just say I'm not a fan and leave it at that. Likewise, This Is Spinal Tap is a funny movie, but not so funny that I actually want to sit and listen to actual Spinal Tap music, even if it does have Christopher Guest's name on it.

So even though I wouldn't want to hear any of this week's dlc, some of it does play ok. Evanescence was decent. The guitars and bass are both pretty samey throughout all three songs. Lots of stop-start-chunka-chunka riffs, with the occasional hopo thrown in for whatever reason. I liked it ok. Not so much that I want to sit and play it all day, but its entertaining enough that I won't mind it showing up in a random setlist. The drums are awesome though. They certainly aren't difficult, just different enough from the standard rock beats that they're kind of refreshing to play. Lots and lots of offbeat kicks, patterns based of drum loops, fun little fills, its a good pack for drummers who are tired of the same old same old. Now if there was just a way to mute Amy Lee's voice

I think Gusano nailed the Spinal Tap stuff. Not very interesting to play, but the lyrics are funny. I had issues with a couple of the songs on drums. They were the type of charts that weren't hard to beat, but keeping a combo going for any length of time was kind of tricky. I don't know if that says something about these songs, or if I just turned into a moron for the twenty minutes I spent playing Spinal Tap :p

I don't mind playing a tuba or whatever on Saucy Jack. Its a throwaway gag of a song that probably shouldn't have been put in the game in the first place, but if it has to be there, then its fair enough that the hmx charters did the best they could with what they had. Though in general I don't really mind this sort of thing as much as some people do (The organ part in Smokin, for example, is the most bad ass part of a bad ass song, so I'm pretty happy to play it).

If you're determined to get something this week, I'd go with Bring Me To Life. Its the most fun I've had playing drums in a while, and given how slim the pickings are this week, that's really all I need to declare a song this week's best. That said, you'd be better off taking the money you would have spent on rock band, and using it to buy Final Fantasy 7 off the psn store. A much wiser purchase :D

You did all that instead of playing rockband? The only option should have been getting the family to all play Rockband..

yeah we did some of that too. my family actually loves to watch me get drunk and sing! The kids think it is hysterical.

BIGFISH

Only got 2 bucks? Skip dinner on the value menu and get yourself the one RockBand DLC that everyone should have! I will be posting a weekly editorial highlighting the weeks biggest catch!

This Week - The cop out!
I am a little late getting to this due to my family obligations(they came for their annual visit), so I am going to forego my typical format of selecting my pick and giving an instrument by instrument breakdown of why. I'm not using my family as an excuse, because with this pak I think i would have went this way anyway. Here is why...

I was a huge, Maiden fan back in the 80's, but honestly haven't listened to many of these songs in a long time. I am glad to have them. That being said, listening to the songs they are all quite different. Unfortunately they all feel all too similar while playing them.

The bass is very triplet heavy, and in some of the live tracks doing things that is just plain unintelligible.

The guitar always has some blistering solo, and long drawn out chords through the chorus.

The vocals almost always have long drawn out, high pitched choruses, waking the nighbors and alerting local packs of dogs to your presence.

The drums are fast and challenging to true experts, but unplayable to most others, as there is always some kind of technical wankery going on.

To sum it up, as much as I love the music, i didn't find any of the tracks particularly FUN to play all around. Asking myself to choose the best one to play on a regular basis would be the equivalent of laying out a dozen rusty kitchen utensils and choosing which one to jam in my eye. The answer in both situations is obvious: the shortest one. But that's just taking the easy way out. I would almost always choose the melon baller, if only because it would make for a better story later.

Furthermore...Potential buyers of songs from this pak will likely be broken down into 5 categories.

1) Maiden haters who won't buy any of it, regardless of quality. They will miss out on some great music.
2) Maiden fanboys who will buy all of it, regardless of quality. They are going to have some of their favorite songs ruined by having to play them.
3) Rockband fanboys(guilty as charged) who will buy whatever is thrown at them, regardless of quality. We will be at the mercy of our vocalist who pick them as payback for making him sing Bathwater.
4) Selective spenders who can't go a week without buying something... anything... to get their fix, regardless of quality. They will be sad they didn't go for the most recent Little Big Planet costume Pak.
5) 80's Metal posers who will pick and choose a couple Maiden songs(regardless of quality) that they are familiar with just to look cool to their stupid 80's metal poser friends. Sadly, the only winners here. These guys will get the few songs they love enough to actually want to muddle through them. Yes, in RockBand, too much Maiden can be a bad thing, but these guys will have just enough.

In the end the choice comes down to this. Which one Iron Maiden song do you feel is badass enough to make you want to play it, muddle through it over and over, and get only minimally progressively better each time?

For me...
Aces High

Enough Said.

Hope you enjoyed last weeks edition of the $2 catch of the week. I will be updating with this weeks pick soon. Amy Lee or Spinal Tap. I'd rather wake up on fire and get put out with a bag of nickels. Remember mileage may vary per user, all opinions welcome. Please discuss.

what a great week bass fans. I think this was a tough song to get through and not miss any notes. It does have some repetition but it makes up for it in some of the phrasing that is not repetitive. All in all great job to everyone..

43------------------Jesse1367--------------162,692
53------------------Tackhead311-----------158,667

drum roll funk we got camp freddys freddyite off the month. as usaul the choice was a very hard one. we had dncjack joining and posting and getting her 1st clear mic. we had juliefoo winning the who battle and putting in a awesome vid in the pepsi challenge. we had rb 3 kids all helping freddy. intimadator offering guitar lessons. sebrun voxing so amazing that im quite sure if dexter gets sick sebrun will be joining offspring.ski dog getting 714 vox fcs. so the tuff choice came to the
brand new freddyite for the month of june
the one and the olny jesse1367
why ? he has taken on the task of the guitar challenge amazingly. and if you havent jammed with this dude another reason we picked jesse you are missing out. you need a drummer jesse , you need bass jesse , you need guitar jesse,or vox jesse yep he will rock all 4 and rock your face off on all 4. wtg go jesse heres your gold lined tiolet paper and key to funkdiggitys bar where you can drink all of his homemade sangria !!!!

Just in case u were wondering - yes i have a life outside of Rock Band (had to clear that up lol) and secondly were is STEWY I dont remember the last time i logged on my PS3 and his name was not there - now 5 days and no fishy i feel lonely (sad face)

and i too am glad to see more female vocalists in camp freddy (cause even though i am a STRAIGHT Male) I do a mean gwen stafanie

Where's STEWY????????

BIGFISH
06-23-2009, 01:13 AM
Stewy has been M.I.A. for a few days now(he actually does sleep on occasion), so in his abscence I will be finalizing the vocal challenge. I am going to add an extra 24 hours to last weeks vox challenge. It will now end at midnight west coast, tuesday night. I need to do this to allow ample time to make sure all participants are on my friends list. so keep trying for that top score! In the meantime I am also going to issue 2 new challenges. These will expire next Monday midnight as usual. Here we go!

1) Doll - Foo fighters
Short and sweet. Ranks 14 thru 104 are tied at 46,000. I'm interested to see who can squeeze out more!

2) Dammit - Blink182
Just because i could sing this one over and over and have a blast every time. Hey, this might be the only chance i get to pick the songs!

Hopefully Stewy will be back next week and won't want to punch me in the face for stepping on his game. Enjoy! Hope to jam with you all soon! Tune in tomorrow for the final posting on Tell Me Baby and Self-Esteem!

Sebrun
06-23-2009, 10:34 AM
Well at least it is not WHO ARE YOU again lol, but I foresee a great big tie on DOLL cause If you Could Squeeze any more points out of it Wesker would have by now for sure, but i will try who knows one of us might get lucky - and this gives me one more night to try for #1 on self esteem on leaderboards (if i could get the optimal points from each squeeze all in the same run i would already have had it, but there always seems to be one activation that wants to go off a milee second early)

Good Luck to everyone on last weeks songs since we have one more night - and good luck on next weeks as well :-)

Doll and Dammit, Eh? Not bad.. We have to start doing some harder songs though! Give us a challenge!! :D (They're red hot, anyone?) lol
I just found this post, Stewy usually feeds me the songs to sing, and i give him my scores.. Now i know where this thread is, expect to see me more often! :D
Nice to meet everyone, and thanks for the congrats on the Who Vox battle we did. <3

Edit:
Oh. And I'm not sure. I think i heard talk of this.. Maybe the Freddys should make a alternate forum for just us? It's really hard to find this one Topic on the Rockband.com forum.
Keep this thread here alive, If we had a forum for the different instruments, and different battles/activities where we could all make threads it would be a lot easier. Just link it from this thread!

dcnjack
06-23-2009, 01:18 PM

Yeah it kind of got lost back there. I am talking about it now. =)

Edit: Good to see you about here Julie!

But I'm a tad confused as to the requirements.. Could someone explain please?

A little bit about myself.. ok,

I'm 16, homeschooled, and spend most of my time playing some form of video game. Great life eh?

Er.. I don't really know what else I should say. If I said too much more I'd have to get into my life story or none of it would make sense, and nobody wants to read that wall-o-text. So... yeah.
