If I saw this on the download list I'd shoot them... (not literally). I would as well though, RAP is already poison enough if you put rap on a game there would be no singing at all due to all the censor work.

Here's where I ****ed up: I thought I was able to talk about the music I like. Had I known that I'm only supposed to talk about the music that the general concensus listens to I guess I would've jumped on the bandwagon for the same three bands I keep hearing about: AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and Tool. While I like all three of them, is it too much to ask that I'm able to discuss other music as well? And really, if you don't like a particular band, GO TO A DIFFERENT THREAD.

If you're going to "DISCUSS" the music go to a different forum in RockBand's community. This is where you request songs to be on ROCK Band. Not Rap Band. Sure you're entitled to your opinion on music but when it starts with one Rap band it's going to end up someone requesting Snoop Dogg for downloads or Flava Flav. NOOO RAP! It's a rock game. Not a rap game. Make a rapstar game.

Nobody said anything about what type of songs need to be requested; as such, if a person feels there's a rock-esque feel to this group's songs, then that's why they got suggested. Plus, let's not generalize about rap here now shall we? If say this group was added for DLC, anybody who requested Snoop Dogg or the like would be out of their minds simply because:


What Snoop Dogg and the like make is blatantly NOT rock
How could one play the song(s) minus the vocals?
With some rap songs you might as well censor out 75% of the song


If we're going to complain about rap then let us all get on Harmonix/EA/MTV for including Beastie Boys's Sabatoge in the game. Heck, let us expand that to Activision/Red Octane for doing that in GH III.

However, I won't see that being done anytime soon because of how the song plays. If it is primarily a combination of rock & rap with more rock than anything else, then I'd expect a song to at least be considered.

Heck, if we're going to argue about rap, let's go back to the Beastie Boys point I made. What if some band came along that used pretty much nothing more than the 4 parts available in RB, yet their lyrics were more rap-esque than one would expect. Would we all just scream up and down and say "NO!"?

I'm thinking not so much.

EDIT: Okay, so I decided to give them a shot via YouTube. I honestly don't see how they could possibly be viable for DLC. I don't see how this could be played with a focus put on the 4 parts RB gives us. Honestly, this falls into the category of rap more than anything else.

While I agree with you that Gym Class Heroes sucks, and should not be in rockband/DLC, Rap is definitely a legitimate genre of music. Even if it, along with Rock, has been seriously bastardized in the last 10 years.

I actually like a bit of Hip Hop, Hybrid kind of thing you're talking about. Gym Class Heroes is really more Hybrid if anything. Yet not many RapRock bands can do what Linkin Park did almost 8 years ago on In The End. Hybrids aren't around anymore. I just don't think that GCH is something that Rock Band should be focusing in on right now. Maybe after a while probably. Sorry if I made you think I've flamed you, my opinion is, it should happen, but a little more distant from this point in time.

I'm just saying after they put on Disturbed, Godsmack, and all those other bands, then they could reach the mixations like GCH. I almost bought the CD Cruel as School Children, when it came out. But I just don't think I'm ready for it as DLC, because if I had a choice between 3 songs by GCH and 3 by Slipknot, I would go with Slipknot just because it's my type of music, heavy rock. I would eventually get GCH if time permitted, but I would choose others before, it could get 15% as many downloads as most of the other music though, that's a major downer for HMX if they were to put it on there. Most people purchased Rock Band for Rock music, I would get anything just about, as long as it's not Snoop Dogg, or ACTUAL rap like that.
