I'd say neither, but..

OP: Just because a bunch of cultures held similar seeming beliefs doesn't make them more plausible. It's exceptionally likely that the cultures held similar beliefs because they originated from the same region.

ie., Culture in geographical region A holds these beliefs.
The culture migrates. Eventually Egyptian and Greek cultures develop separately from the parent culture.
Both will hold similar beliefs.

Also..
If I said that a schizophrenic in Brazil believes in mole people that control all world governments, and a schizophrenic in Taiwan believes the same thing...that does not make the idea more likely.
