Today I opened up my guitar to try to fix the squeaky noises it makes when I down strum. After opening the guitar I find myself looking at a different strum mechanism that any others I've seen.

Here is a picture:

(Had to post a link or else the picture would be huge. Also, sorry for the blurry picture.)

Has anybody seen this type of strum bar before?

With my squeaking problem, I'm not so sure how to fix that as its the switch thats making the noise when its pushed in. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

EDIT: The strum bar works perfectly other than the noise it makes. Also, there is supposed to be a screw holding down the switch closest to the camera. (I took it off to see if it was in fact the switch making noise.)

I just opened mine up to try and make it a little more sensitive, to find that it was a first-gen model (the two metal contacts that touch each other with the shoddy solder job). This, though, appears to press a spring-loaded plastic arm down upon strum, and also has improved foam pad containers. I just filled out an RMA request, let's hope I get one of these bad boys :D

Think I saw pics of this posted very early on, second gen I would guess: the magnet type is the most recent

Yeah I agree that this one was identified as 'version 2'. It most closely resembles the design of the old PS2 SG guitar (which BTW appears to built like a tank compared to some of the RB guitars I've seen...an no hot glue everywhere).

It works flawlessly when it comes to registering strums, but the bar is a tad loose and it squeaks.

EDIT: My box is dated at November 3rd, 2007. Thats what made be think it's the most recent.

now periphals have versions....

so what in the unlikely chance we have RB 2, are we gonna have a version 14 guitar with a version 5 drum (its silent!) and version 7 mic (cowbell sold seperately)
