Can you play songs off a sd card on wii or can you just play them from the wii memory. I bought alot of songs and my wii's memory is full and tried putting them on a sd card but they didnt show up

Yes you can, but it has to be a non-HC (high capacity) SD card.

Anything 2GB or less should work 100%, or the highly popular 4GB transcend non-HC card. most if not all other 4GB cards will be SDHC however.

Also, how exactly did you "try putting them on a sd card"? In game?

What SD Card are you using? It needs to be a 2GB or 4GB non-HC SD Card. If you have 'moved' your DLC over to the SD Card, you should be able to see all of them when you enter the game and go into your 'set list'. Try going out to the music store and selecting 'set list'. Keep in mind, you will not see your songs (DLC) on the SD Card itself... you will only see your blocks decrease as you add more DLC.

I'm using a micro sd card 2gb sandisk in a sd adapter i reformatted it and put it in my wii and when asked if i wanted to store add on content i selected yes and its storing DLC content on there
