I was at Best-Buy on Saturday looking at the albums and such. And i seen this band called "Chickenfoot" on the shelves. I picked it up and was looking at it... The only person in the band i knew from just staring at the case (since it did say all the members on it) was Chad Smith (drummer for RHCP). The band apparently has Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani and Michael Anthony in the band.
Their first single "Oh Yeah (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDo7lQ6Jt8Q)" isn't half bad actually.

They were on Conan last week, and I thought they were great. I may pick up the album if I ever just randomly decide to.
I promptly created a Conan character with the guitar Satriani gave him.

Ugh, i've been missing Conan.
Anyhoo, i like them. The album doesn't release till tomorrow (Tuesday). But for some reason Best-Buy broke the street date. lol
I think i'll pick this up too.

Yeah, and nobody is really impressed by them (http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review_30836). Especially given the giant amount of talent in the band and the fact that they were supposed to be "better than Zeppelin." It's entirely generic and stale.

I have yet to buy the album to complete that review. I am a fan of all the members solo stuff, even Hagar. It just doesnt seem to be meshing to well, but i do need to hear more to give it a fair shake.

Um... not one comment in that thread was made after the album came out.

That's a big line up, I will have to check it out, I get interested in bands like this. I have been listening to "while my guitar gently weeps" by Yellow Matter Custard for a while now.
So yes, I will check it out :)

Really? I count five out of seven from that site who were impressed by them. Hardly "nobody."
2.0 poor shindip
4.0 excellent taytck30692
3.5 great markshell
4.5 superb Bigbadbob
4.5 superb DinosaurJones
4.5 superb ifwetrust
1.5 very poor Nosferatwo
If you're going to make a claim like that, at least don't link to a site that completely refutes it.

The most bland generic hard rock I've heard in a long time. Very disappointing.

Was just listening to the album (Amazon MP3 has it for $3.99 on sale), lyrics are for the most part throwaway, but the instrumentation is top-notch. I'd probably score it a 7.5/10 personally; worth the listen, worth your $3.99, but it's not as good as the lineup would suggest.

Old news *yawn*
But Michael Anthony is flea from RHCP. Satriani is very very good. and Hagar was lead singer for Van Halen for some time. Their music is pretty decent.

Michael Anthony is from Van Halen. Flea is Michael Balzary.

Im not that impressed based on the Conan performance. I remember a while ago a friend told me about this band and I was really excited to hear them, but I was disappointed.

Ok performance on Connan. Sammy's vocals were weak (at best). Of course, I never was that into him anyways. Satch needed to do a little more

The "oh yeah" part in "oh yeah" ruins the whole song for me, at least in the live Conan performance. The studio version is tolerable. The lyrics are pretty dumb in that song, though.

Satriani's an awesome guitarist, and Hagar's a legend, but I have yet to hear them. I'll probably never get past that name though, so dumb.

Or you could, you know, read the actual review I was linking to instead of the user ratings. If you're going to try and be a troll, you could at least do a better job of it.

OH! ... YEAH! it sure was... If that song is any indication, Satch is saving his best (and good, decent, and slightly above average) stuff for his solo work.
