hey, love the game. sad about the guitar strum prob. Especially after my wife ranted when I bought it and ranted MORE when the guitar stopped strumming in like 5 hours... my question is which is better...a fixed (self) oldstyle, contact guitar or a new magnetic model??? i have a new guitar "in the mail" from ea, I guess I could eval both and send the worse of the two back; but is the mag better? thx:confused:

I haven't tried a 'fixed' contact model, but my new magnetic one works like a dream :)

You'll probably have to open it up.
For me, it was easy to feel the difference when my new Strat got to my house on Friday. On the original bundle one, I could actually feel when I strummed that it was pushing a metal contact up against another one.
On the new one, there's no feeling like that. I opened it up for a few seconds just to verify that.

I profer the contact modle mainly because if something does go wrong microswitches are cheep for me and I can easyly replace them.

My favorite model thus far has been the old contact model, but mostly because of the silent fret buttons. I was able to jury-rig a fix for the contacts, but it didn't last.
My first replacement had magnets and REALLY LOUD fret buttons, and a faulty upstrum. I hated its guts.
My second replacement has not-quite-so-loud-but-not-as-quiet-as-the-first-guitar fret buttons, and what I assume are magnets, and it seems to work fine.

well i have a PS2 version which has the newer magnetic strum.... and it sucks!
you can't strum fast...... i don't care what anyone says, i can use my old GH2 guitar and kill the songs due to the strum.
to me the magnetic strum seems sloppy, and in order to hit consecutive notes you need to move the magnet away from the contact and then back again to hit the notes....
or strum up and down.... which i don't like to do, and the magnetic strum has said to have problems with the up strum anyway.

I dunno what you talking about, the up strum workes perfectly, and the magnetic strip doesn't have to be moved that far away for it to reset. My only problem is that my blue freat keeps on sticking.

I agree with Twilight you must have other issues than the strummer. Since recieving my magnet strum guitar I can now consistantly high 90% every run through "Blackened" on Expert. The song is plenty fast and no issues whatsoever.
