RB2 foot pedal registers with no contact

I have rock band 2 for xbox 360 and recently my foot pedal hasn't been working right. Everytime i plug it in the pedal registers a hit until you get to a screen where there is no function for the pedal. I tried my old RB2 pedal with the same results. Is this an internal problem with the port?

It sure sounds like it from your description. In that case, you're going to have to RMA the entire drum set.
