Do You Stand Up or Sit Down When Playing Guitar/Bass?

This is a question that has since puzzled me since I started my journey with the almighty fake guitar. I have have friends who play that prefer sitting down, and those who like standing up. I have no idea if either affects gameplay performance and all that, so I'm wondering what the general consensus is regarding this unimportant issue.

What do you say? I personally stand while playing, but let's see what everyone else says.

I stand when playing plastic guitar/bass, but I sit down when playing my real guitar. Partly because it's an acoustic and people tend to sit with an acoustic, and partly because I haven't put a strap on it. :p

I'm not better or worse either way. If I am by myself... I will probably sit. If other people are over, I'll stand.

I LOLed.

I do worse when I sit too, so I pretty much have to stand for GH when I'm trying to do well. Also the bass open notes in GHWT are confusing enough in some songs (such as BYOB!) just to look at. Sitting down makes it even harder to hit those.

That thread died two months ago... no harm starting a new one instead of being proclaimed a necroposter.

Back on topic... I usually play sitting down when I'm playing alone, unless I'm also singing (because I didn't buy a microphone stand with a boom arm). If I'm in playing with a group, I'll usually stand.

I generally stand when I'm playing hard, trying to get the best score I can, or playing with friends, and sit when I'm just messing around. I believed that I did better while I was standing but lately this has proven not to necessarily be the case, I've sometimes done a lot better on songs when I was sitting. Accidental premature overdrive launches are also less likely to occur while I'm seated, I've noticed.

I stand up. Harder to play sitting down for me. Wish I could play sitting down. Would make things easier. But I don't care cause I rarely play the guitar/bass. I'm a drummer.

Not at all. I've been playing long enough to know how much moving is too much. I never prematurely go into overdrive. ;)

There's absolutely no way I can play well without standing up. Ever since we first bought GHIII we stood up, to simulate the reality, so I never tried sitting down when I was learning

Well, you know me, I own like 20 guitars :rolleyes: and I totally stand up the whole time so I get the feel of being a real rockstar For real, I only do vox and I def sit down, cause chances are if I stood up i'd start dancing as if I was a real singer lawl :o

I mean, 90% of the reason I play RB or GH is to pretend (and I do very much mean pretend) to be a rock star. Sitting down only serves to remind me I'm just playing a game. A real bassist has to stand up. Otherwise it'll be hard to play. :)

I play much better standing so if I am actually trying I stand. If I am playing an easy song I might sit but more usually I will lay down (my TV is in my bedroom 10 feet from my bed). The thing that sucks about laying down is that my positioning causes my overdrive to randomly go off when I do not want it to, but that is why I do not lay down if I am actually trying my best on the song :P.

If I'm playing for fun than it just depends on how tired I am.

If I'm actually trying for a good score, though, I stand up. I preform much better standing.

Also: I play my acoustic sitting.

The way I see it, you don't stand up to play a shooter even though you're pretending to be someone that runs around and shoots people, so I don't see why you'd stand up to pretend to play an instrument either unless you're at a party or something.

(that and I play better sitting down in my über-comfy chair, but that's not the question)

I always stand whenever I have people over, but if I'm playing a really hard song on my own or something and I'm trying to pass it, I'll sit down.

Oh, and some songs on guitar require sitting down, like Lenny. :)
