Mouse Pads w/ double sided sticky paper to attach to drum pad. Felt on top of mouse pads. Electrical tape around edges of felt and plastic part of drum pad. Colored foam to hide felt/tape seem.
The mouse pads are not only quieter than using the foam for padding but they also give great bounce back.

Looks like a normal size Tama drum throne to me. Sure, it's not one of the mini kids' thrones you'll find for $20, it's a normal adult size single-braced throne.

Mic stands at any music supply store average 20-30 bones. Get the clip meant for wireless mics as they are thicker, like the logitech mic is. The best throne I have sat on is a Roc-n-Soc http://www.rocnsoc.com/lunarseries.html
They are known as the caddilac of all drum thrones. More money but worth every penny.
They have these at Sam's club http://auctions.samsclub.com/Scripts/ListingInfo.asp?LotNo=79075552
The new ones in the store are slightly different in appearance. New style has no concho studs, but a chrome plate instead and the foot ring is singular not doubled up. Plus it has the option to use the wheels casters or stationary feet.
I might be getting the one at Sam's. They also have a similar stool with a round seat and no backrest for $40.

The last thing I heard about the drum mod is that people were using circular mouse pads. Has there been a better idea since?

Hows that Throne compared to a kitchen chair? i.e. is it worth the 45 bucks?

Did you guys just replace the kick pedal with a real one?
Also, I imagine the drums don't slide on carpet but mine keep sliding away from me on my hard wood floors. It was ridiculous trying to play Epic on expert cause I had to keep adjusting in the middle of the song.

I didn't. I installed rasehead's reinforcement plate (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=280180879252&Category=122517&_trksid=p3907.m29).
Sounds like you should buy a small area rug for your drum kit. Mine have never moved on me (carpet).

You could always try this: http://rockband.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1909
Use a real kick pedal.

Thanks. I'll consider the reinforcement plate but I hope it doesn't involve drilling holes in the actual pedal.

yes because you can adjust it for your hight and length of your leg. you want your knee bent at a 90 degree angle. (thats what the real drummer at the store said)
Thanks. I'll consider the reinforcement plate but I hope it doesn't involve drilling holes in the actual pedal.
you just need a screwdriver, the screws are self taping. and yes holes will be put n the pedal but its better than it snaping in half.

Like Stoney said, no drilling is required. If you do not want holes in your pedal, you can buy double sided sticky paper but no guarantee it'll stay put long. My plate is rock solid and I have no fears it will ever break now. Just make sure to line up the plate so it covers the bottom 100% at the hinge.

Why did your drum pad mod cost so much? I followed the tutorial and it only cost me $6.75? Did you purchase the circle cutter too? I just used a bowl that turned out to be the exact same size as the pads and an Exacto knife to cut it precisely. Anyway, awesome setup. Mine is similar (save for the reinforced pedal...that will come later). I use a triangular drum throne that has "contours" for the ass cheeks. Very nice.

1 Circle cutter. same as the one used in the guide - $15.99
Total cost after Tax. (in Florida Daytona Beach) $26.57

I have the circular mousepads, cut to fit. but the sensitivity is reduced after I apply them.
I ended up just taking everything off, using the kit "out of the box".
I may try the rubber tipped sticks for some extra bounce.

I have seen people claim that mousepads works better, but I had mixed results with them.
I ultimately created the foam/felt combination that a bunch of people are now using (http://community.rockband.com/vbforum/showthread.php?t=13539) and modifying to their liking.

I had originally used mouse pads that my company had lying around. While the muffled the sound, they also deadened the sensitivity quite a bit, so I found I had to be more forceful, which ultimately led to louder playing. I then went with CigDangle's method and have not only been wholly impressed with the quieter playing, but I have also noticed that it improved the responsiveness of rolls on the snare pad. Before I was experience the intermittent hit issue others have reported, but once I put the foam rubber/felt combo into place, I suddenly was hitting all the 16th note and higher "rolls". I think the combo has reduced the sensitivity to such a point that the "brain" registers each hit individually as accurately as possible. As for the prices:
4 - 9"x12" felt pieces in yellow, red, dark blue (really dark), and dark green (almost a forest green...whatever) - $.79/ea
4 - 9"x12" 2mm foam rubber pieces - all black - $.79/ea
Total w/tax = $6.72
This has been by far the most cost-efficient necessary mod I have ever done. I say necessary because the sound was too much for my little children/wife to handle for extended periods of time and also because the snare pad was really annoying. Cheers CigDangle. :D
