The mods generally don't post that much but have been around for a while, are humerous, don't have a go at HMX and don't post threads about whether they like chicken nuggets or not.

making less spam posts helps, so does being a member longer than a month.

I never thought I'd say this, but this is win.

I always did think humor was one of my strong suits ;)
I can't say what exactly it is that qualifies one for becoming a mod, but if we've had to delete posts that seemed to be created for the sole purpose of upping your post count, you're not getting off to a great start.

I'm referring to your spree of random Manbearpig and Batman posts the other day. These were in random threads and not contributing to the discussion in any way. That's the kind of thing we generally frown upon around here.

Pfft, if I were hiring mods, I'd rather take someone who openly admits to being a "dick" in their signature than someone who pretends NOT to be one just to get on my good graces and turns out to actually be a HUGE powerhungry one. I'm a sucker for brutal honesty, what can I say.
Oh and Fatal - you have posted in the main RB forum to boost your post count. Posting the exact same "one line" comments multiple times in the same thread - especially after finding out you needed X number of posts before becoming a 'senior member' - classifies as padding your post count.

There's only a select few who would qualify as a mod here.

a) If they recruit any more mods, it'll be because they need more, which they don't seem to at the moment.
b) If they recruit more mods, there are a lot of people who've been around longer and have had more chance to prove themselves worthy. Get in line. ;)
c) On forums in general, not just here, asking to be a mod never helps your chances of becoming a mod. Hell, one board I used to frequent had a rule that if you asked to be a mod, you were automatically put on the "never make this guy a mod" list. If you want to be a mod, just post and take part in the community, and it'll come to you if it's ever going to happen.

Generally, anyone who actually asks to be a mod immediately disqualifies themselves from ever being one. On this board or any other.

I don't understand what the big deal with being a mod is anyway.
The way I look at it..it's just more work.
Maybe im just lazy. If I was offered it, I would probably take it for kicks and giggles, but it really isn't a goal in life.

Man I hope fatal death and joigga never team up.
Unless fatal death is joigga in disguise.

Actually, being a mod is phase 3 in my plan to take over the world.

If you want to be a mod you've clearly not been one before. Not sure what you're expecting of it but really it's nothing great. Thankless busy work at best.

There is no specific criteria to the process... be helpful, funny, or insightful when posting. Don't run around hating on people too much.
A large enough resume of good-will and well-reasoned conversation tends to get noticed. (As does the reverse, but that usually leads to other things ;))

besides, we have enough mods right now. Most of yall will be gone by 2008 and we can go back to being the peaceful community we once were.

Just start up a broken instrument subforum, and find some way to trick people in to going to a different general section.
That should solve most the problems.

This is win to be mod for sure!
Why didn't I think of this?
Although a separate Canada subforum would most likely happen.;)

Listen to this person. Eastwood is my campaign manager for "Huskie for Mod in '08".
All we need now are the bumper stickers and chocolate cake. Donuts are so yesterday.

I couldn't quite put my finger on where I heard this phrase before until I replaced the word "mod" to "fight".
Now I get it :)
