I just bought rock band and a ps3 40 gig system for x-mas presents[won't be opened until then]. Do I need to purchase a usb hub kit or does rock band already come with the necessary stuff. Also are there 3 or 4 instruments in the box.

Nope. PS3 bundle does not come with a hub so you will need to purchase one.

There are three instruments. Guitar, Drums, Microphone.

Individual instruments will be available for purchase in Q1 2008.

will any generic usb hub work or do I have to purchase the rock band hub for 24.99!

DO NOT BUY THE RB USB hub....It's crap.

Just make sure that the hub you get is USB 2.0 and Powered. Try a Logitech or Kennsington...My Buddy has a Kennsington 6 port and seems to work for him.
