I noticed that both BB and FS updated the release dates for Rock Band - reads as dec 28 now.

My copy was pre-ordered through EB - I sincerely hope it ships on the promised Canadian release date (Dec 20 if I recall). Would suck to be rock-band-less the entire christmas vacation week :(

Any word if EB's date is dec 28 also now?

EDIT: Notice how the the PS2 is priced on the FS site? It's the normal price plus a discount, making the price less than 150$. While the PS3/Xbox360 price with the discount is 180$. Still 10$ more than the suggested retail price. I bet you that those prices are going to change again before Rock Band is released in Canada (if it's ever released but we can't talk about this or the thread will be closed :confused:)

True, a lot of people don't read but it's jut not that, when people are angry or disappointed they want to express themselves. People not reading is true for any forums but this is the only forum I have seen where there is a subject that a lot of people want to address (there has been a dozen thread about this) but since each thread about it has been closed they make new ones to express themselves.

While this particular thread has a very good title, a lot of the Canadian release date threads have been closed because they are just misleading. The press release in the sticky is clear, and until there's another statement from an official channel, most of these threads are mis-titled rumor mongering.

In this case, maybe BB Canada and FutureShop have changed their dates. That doesn't constitute a change in the official release date, but the title of this thread isn't misleading.

It seems people are coming to the community site hoping for some answers. Hoping the makers of the game that has perked their interest can explain all the confusion floating about. When the gaming sites they read go on and on at how great the game is. The media they consume throw accolades and awards toward this unseen game, that was supposed to be in their store shelves... it can be maddening.

If Harmonix can't give answers as to when the delays will be put to an end then they should direct people's energy away from the board and to the place where their disappointment and frustration can spur on whomever to straighten the problem out.

As for the press release in the sticky... it was great that Canadians got official word of the delay, but its funny that the article is dated on the same day the game was to appear on store shelves continent-wide (as Canadians were told in a previous press release).

So should folks wait for the 'new current' release date for another coin flip of either 'game' or 'press release announcing another delay'?

Ok to avoid more mass confusion here, the EB Games release date you are referring to is the US EB Games, and it refers to when they expect to have their next shipment in stock.

I'm pretty Rock Band is in fact delayed in Canada.
Found out from a repair request. No repairs will be done in Canada until the game is released, which they then went on to say the date has been delayed until Dec 28.
Then I called local popular EBGames in Ontario and they confirmed it has been delayed again until sometime in January.

As of yesterday, EB in Penticton had no release date change listed on there system.
It should be in stores on December 20th.

My guess is that most stores have so many preorders that the initial shipment is already sold out. That would explain the new date FS and others are posting on there sites now.

If you order now, you'll have to wait a bit longer. If you preordered, I am sure you'll be getting your game on the 20th.

As for the higher prices FS is posting, maybe that includes the additional shiping cost ?
Not sure on that one, I never ordered anything online at FS, but it would make sence.
EB has the normal price listed but also states that an additional $19.99 for shiping will be charged due to the size and weight of RB.

I preordered mine a couple month ago and expect to pick it up on the 20th. I'll also check Walmart at midnight to see if I can pick up a second box. Need some spare parts to get one working set together :)

call the ebgames at Vaughan Mills...they know about the delay...i think its only majour locations that have it in their systems already.

im pretty sure its delayed till at least dec 28th, i hope thats all...

and as for FS, they wouldnt include shipping costs, doesnt make sense, cause you can pick it up yourself and they have never done this before...they know about the delay just like ebgames...not for second shipments but for the first shipment, it has been delayed til the 28th at least!
the multilanguage issues have been fixed but now with all the guitar and drum instruments that people are having problems with, they figured to fix them before releasing to another country so that is the reason of delay...

I would guess that the reason availability is now projected into 2008 is because all the quantities for the release date next week are probably accounted for in pre-orders.

Therefore the next time someone can walk into a store and pick up a bundle would be in 2008.

That's pure speculation, but as good a guess as any.

Just called my EB Games in Ottawa in a panic due to the above post.

I asked to speak to the manager, and here's what he said:

The game will be available for pre-order pick up ONLY on Tuesday December 18th. He does not know how many bundles he will be getting, nor if he will only get bundles for one console, or all 3... he will know when he sees the shipping order when the boxes arrive, not before. As for just walking in and buying the game, he does not see it available in the foreseeable future due to the number of pre-orders he has, and the limited number of bundles the distributor is giving each store, depending on its size.

He knew of no further delay, and he said if it were delayed again, he would kick up a fuss about it with the distributor since he's getting "harassed" by angry customers.

So, as far as I'm concerned, this is all a red herring.

This is just getting stupid... I could really go for a straight answer right about now. I tried contacting EA's customer "support" and was told they "have no information on a Canadian release date".

I've got two copies on pre-order at eb, one for myself and one's a Chrismas gift. I could care less if I get mine by the 25th but I'm getting pretty ticked off about the other as the closer it gets to Christmas, the harder it will be to find alternate gifts.

If you read my post you would have seen I am asking the person who is making the inflammatory posts to stop, unless they can back up their statements.

I quite agree that it is useful to discuss who is going to have the game in stock next week and the person I addressed my post to is certainly not doing that by posting unsubstantiated rumors which are not permitted in these forums.

Maybe you might want to address your post to maddrummerdan86 if you want to keep this thread open.

In the meantime, my local EB has not said anything about further delays. I think the simple fact is the majority of retailers are sold out on pre-orders and the information we are seeing on BB and FS websites reflects when they expect some general stock. This game will be worth the wait for the full bundle. I have been playing a stand alone copy for a few weeks now it is absolutely fantastic. That is about all I can say.

I just off the phone with the closest 10 EB Games in my area and all but 1 are saying Dec. 20. The one guy said Dec.22 however we didn't check his computer where as the other stores did so I'm just going to exclude him.

I'm really hoping right now that if there is a delay at all (and I'm not 100% convinced there will be one) that it will be for stores that did not take pre-order of the game. I could see a limited supply of the game being sent up to satisfy pre-orders for now with the big box stores getting shipments slightly after Christmas i.e. Dec. 28.

However this still doesn't explain the fact that some stores are still taking pre-orders.

All I know is that I've had a copy pre-ordered since May so if my local EB gets a copy I must be one of the first they're going to call.

After hearing that, I called Electronic Arts myself to see if it was true, and after spending 30 minutes on the phone with someone, they finally decided to call and contact someone who can tell them an actual answer regarding the delay rumour. Then he came back to me saying that it is in fact delayed but they don't know the date yet and any place telling you a date (such as BB, FS, EB) doesn't know either and are just picking possible future dates...
Then he said the reason for the delay is not to fix equipment issues but because of some legal issues they're having. Due to the fact that there is no service center for Rock Band in Canada they cannot release the game. So they're figuring out a way to open up a service center and they don't know how long it will take yet. That is why there's no date.

Sounds like a bunch of stupidity on their side, but that is what I was told...

Sounds like attempting to pass it as fact to me. Opinion is cool, but you have to make sure you make it sound like an opinion. Here you are just straight up telling us that it is indefinitely delayed due to legal reasons, which is just pure speculation.

I mean they had a month extra to set up a service center. WTF is wrong with them if this is true?

Oh and about the Service Center, why couldn't they just set one up in Montrel or Vancouver. You know, EA only has their biggest HQ's in those two cities... Makes no sense to me. I'm calling bull****, but I'm still 50/50 on the chance of possible delay.

with this quote i totally agree and think it is the logical reason behind the change of release date for FS and BB. Makes just sense that if you did not reserve your copy with the demand for this game that store at Christmas time do not have enough stock coming in to satisfy everyone. My EB still says Dec 20 and we should all be fix once they receive it a few days in advance which they always do, like for GHIII. unt'il then lets all take it easy, breath in....... breath out...... ;)

I know this whole thing is ******ed, I think its just a bunch of lies to cover the real reasons, like the first delay wasnt due to multilanguage packaging, it was because they couldn't make enough bundles for Canada and the States by black friday so they said screw Canada...thats what i believe anywhoo.

This time, I'm not too sure why a delay, he simply told me they're having legal issues and need to open a service center in Canada first before they can release the game. He said they will not accept repairs in the States from Canada because they're not able to send packages back to Canada.

I hope they can solve whatever problems within a week and still have it in stores for the 20th but who knows...will just have to wait and see I guess.....

The Canadian version of Rock Band (PS2, PS3, X360) will ship to retailers on December 20, developer Harmonix has confirmed to Shacknews.
Though the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Rock Band arrived in the United States in mid-November, the Canadian editions were formally delayed just eight days before release. At the time, Harmonix owner MTV Games told Shacknews the game had been pushed back until December 17, just one day before the PlayStation 2 edition is slated to launch.

I still have my hopes up for a non-delay, I preordered but i am like the 19th person to so i dont know if i will even get one on launch from eb. Anyone have a guess on how many they get.

I asked EB that question before and they told me 10-15 copies per store depending on the popularity of that store, so chances might be slim dude...if you have a huge location store then maybe they will get 20, but if not, look elsewhere!

well they dont have to actually build anything, i mean, they have lots of EA locations where they could use as a source, probably not 8 days, but i could see it being done in a couple weeks if they dont have so much to do...

The release for PS3 and Xbox 360 is Dec. 17th, but they said they won't actually be at EB till the 20th and i won't recieve a copy till mid January because of all the preorders.....

Whats the most confirmed price anyone has heard for it in Canada.....please say someone knows sumtin......

EB told me that they have it availble on the 17th and they will have it on the 20th......there is 69 people that have it preordered and im 28th......and they will get 3-5 copies a week

Actually, Shacknews was the first one to post the actual delay in Canada, so I would take their word at this point. They have proven reliable in the past and I am grateful that they have gone after their sources at HMX to get us some sort of answer.

And on the 20th, when I have my bundle in my hands, I won't be here to tell you your wrong because I will be too busy playing Rock Band with my buddies, so I will just go ahead and say it now. Your wrong. End of story. :)

why dont u just call EA and ask them, straight from the source, they were the ones who told me about a delay because of legal issues, and they're the ones who will be sending it to us, HMX didnt know anything before about a delay or they acted like they didnt the first time, and they probably dont know anything now...

I checked Blockbuster again today. This time I asked the manager. She said she got off the phone with the head office and they said the 20th but weren't sure so they're not taking pre-orders. I said I'll just check everyday next week and hope for the best. On a side note I finally scored Suikoden V while there.

Also anyone that has a Music World might wanna check if they're getting it. I highly doubt they'd be gettting anything new but if it's something they ordered back in Oct. they might get it and all games are 40% off there.

Rock Band Finally Hits Canada December 20

The Canadian version of Rock Band (PS2, PS3, X360) will ship to retailers on December 20, developer Harmonix has confirmed to Shacknews.
Though the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Rock Band arrived in the United States in mid-November, the Canadian editions were formally delayed just eight days before release. At the time, Harmonix owner MTV Games told Shacknews the game had been pushed back until December 17, just one day before the PlayStation 2 edition is slated to launch.

i called about 2 weeks ago and got the guy to print up a list of when people preordered and he said my 2 copies are 2nd and 3rd...if he tells me its first come first serve ill snap on that little *****!

I called eb in guelph where I preordered a copy sometime in the summer...they said the 20th it would be coming out but as well all know supply is very very short, the employee said that it may not be available even though I preordered it...****ty...they said I will most likely have to wait since the supply is very low and they weren't sure if they were going by who preordered first....This sucks! Hopefully they get enough in...

Yep, I'm serious, and yeah I complained a lot. Worked my way up to the regional manager, who basically said "piss off, you don't want it, there's 100 people waiting to take your place."

I've got both GH 2 and 3 Guitars for the 360 and my wife's American Idol PS2 MIC works with the game. Went on EBAY today and a guy in TO was selling the drum kit for $120. I caved and bought it. So I hope you guys get your bundles next week. I wasn't going to mention this but since i'm already set up now.... If you're in Ottawa starting tonight the Walmart at Lincoln Heights (and the one in Orleans i think) is going to be open 24hours, might be worth your while to go around midnight on Monday ( or Wednesday?) to see if they have the RB bundles for sale.
