Maximum the hormone- or MtH for short, is a great band from Japan with some killer songs.
Why they would be great additions: Songs like "shimi" ,"Koi no mega lover" ,"whats up people?!, and "Zetsou Billy" have great riffs and drums , with constantly shifting tempos and beats. even bass gets sweet solos.
Singing would be crazy, as the singer(s) shift in and out of Japanese, alternating english for some lyrics. Zetsou billy even mixes rap, soft melody , metal, and general rock styles of singing to from an amazing song.
If you've seen the show "Deathnote" you have heard of this band. they made both the opening and closing songs.
Check their stuff out on Youtube or thier site. youll find that they are a great fun band whos music would be great for a party of Rockband.

Seconded! =D
Language barrier would be a problem though, people can't always pronounce Japanese correctly.

This band is pretty excellent, but the language barrier would be a HUGE problem. I for one have no problem pronouncing/saying/singing Japanese words, but most people have no idea. I want some of "The Pillows" on RB too.

"What's Up People?" would be so much awesomeness it's not even funny. But soon after they'd have to release DLC allowing you to create Ryuk, Light, L, and one more character (Misa?) as your rockers. Ryuk on guitar or drums FTW. However, it'd need a little lyrical censorship, and I wouldn't play it often...as a vocalist, I know that singing that song would shoot your vocal chords pretty bad.
Personally, I'd prefer to see Yuria's "You" (OP from the anime Shuffle!) or L'Arc En~Ciel's "New World" over more MTH in a J-Rock Pack. "You" would be a lot of guitar fun, and it's more female vocals (I'm a guy, but I've heard enough complaints on the lack of female vocals in RB), and "New World" just seems like a lot of fun.

You can watch Death Note at www.deathnote.tv...just posting it for those who haven't seen it.
LOVE the idea of using Ride On Shooting Star...the others aren't bad, but ROSS is by far the most memorable. It's been awhile since I've personally seen FLCL, but I think this would be a great piece for the game.
For those who're looking for more J-Metal, check out Dir En Grey; the song by them I personally know is Obscure. It's...interesting, to say the least. If you can't stand death metal in English, try it in Japanese. I hate Western death metal, but it works for me in Japanese...
Anyways, current favorite pack;
J-Rock Pack:
-New World; L'Arc~En~Ciel
-What's Up People?; Maximum the Hormone
-Ride On Shooting Star; The Pillows
If J-Rock can garner enough support, maybe we'll actually get our hands on some!

Weaboo isn't a racist term or anything. It's just a term for someones who loves the Japanese culture. It's like calling someone a fanboy.
However, it is a little bit of an attack in this case, so Bryan Atomic, if your not a fan of Japanese music/culture/whatever, don't post random crap in the thread.

I would like you to direct you to entry 1 on this website:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Weaboo
The entry, while obviously written by someone who is a total douchebag against anime fans, clearly identifies it as a negative term. Also, according to the entry, "weaboos" and anime fans are two separate entities. My point being that it is a discriminatory word and should not be tolerated.
I would also like to point out to any other "anti-anime" people that may read this that just because someone can't pronounce a Japanese word right doesn't mean they're a wannabe or whatnot. I'm actively studying the Japanese language, and sometimes, despite constant repetition and practice, I have a hard time pronouncing words right. That's how it is when learning a foreign language. I will also use Japanese words and phrases in conversation sometimes to practice. Judging from this website, it seems people that distinguish anime fans and "weaboos" feel that a "weeabo" is someone who randomly uses Japanese words and phrases but can't pronounce them. I'm just trying to say that those that would distinguish are morons, because, as I've just explained, it may be someone like me. Granted, I only use words or phrases amongst my friends and not amongst strangers, but to each his own.

There is no need to bypass the word filter and flame. That is only going to get you into trouble. Just report any necessary posts and let that be the end of it. If action needs to be taken, it will. Thank you.

That's easy for you to say. I'm assuming your not an anime fan, and thus you haven't had to deal with ignorant, closed-mined people like him for years because of your hobby. It's ridiculous, frustrating, and angering. So I'm sorry if it angers you that I get upset about it, but that's the way it is. If someone had attacked a person's race and that person had responded similarly to how I did, I don't think that person would have been told they were in the wrong, and as far as I'm concerned this isn't that much of a different situation; it is still singling out and attacking a group of people because they are somehow different from you (you being used in general, and not directed at Magnet). So I'm sorry, but I'm tired of dealing with ignorant people like him.
I've put up with it a lot for many years because I'm an anime fan, and I'm sick of it. I'm sick of people looking at attendees of the local anime convention who like to cosplay, and calling them "freaks", "weirdos", and "buffoons", yet people think it's perfectly acceptable to go to a Ravens game half-naked with your body painted three different colors, or to cover yourself in feathers, or any other number of crazy get-ups. Unless you've dealt with this yourself, it's hard to understand exactly how it feels, and people always try to offer the solution of "well just stop watching anime", which is the biggest load of BS I've ever heard. Why should I give up my hobby for some ignorant arses who have no clue what they're even talking about?
Again, you say that I was in the wrong; maybe I was. But you've never been in my shoes (as far as I know) and thus have never had to experience the anger that comes from years and years of ignorant people making their ignorant comments about something they know nothing about. Also, I would like to ask why, after I've offered proof that the term is seen as derogatory, they offending post (and in effect my own) have not been removed from this thread.

I love japanese music, but I know that it will be a long road until we have some in rock band (Japan X has english lyrics so it doesn't counts)
My number one request for the inevitable rock band 3 is more options for the user.
EX: Do you want your highway (where the notes are) black? or do you wanna put a picture there? (any art created on RB or stored in your 360)
If your singing, do you want your lyrics BIG or small or if singing a song in japanese or german or w/e, do you want it written in its native language? or written like you are supposed to pronounce it?
I want J-Music, and I want it now.

Because as far as we are concerned, the term in question is on the same level as calling someone a 'fanboy', a 'poser' or indeed a 'freak' or a 'weirdo'. Annoying? Yes. On the same level as vulgar or racist comments? Sorry, but no.
I'm sorry that this apparently strikes that much of a chord with you, but the post is not against forum rules. If you are that offended by it, just put the user on ignore. And as someone who's been an avid LARPer for his entire adult life (a hobby that draws the same kind of negative reactions from some people, although I've only come across it online, to be honest), I strongly suggest you learn to deal with the double standard you mention in your post. It's certainly not right, but it's also not something worth getting that worked up about. If people put down your hobby, it only shows how narrow-minded they themselves are.

First off, to preface this: it is not against Dr_Lex or the other mods, as I realize they do not set the rules but only enforce them.
Now, with that said...the whole reason there is a double standard is because no one bothers to ever stand up against it and say it is wrong. Furthermore, when someone does (ie. me in this case) they are told to "deal with it" instead of something being done about it. I am an avid forum user, and frequent many different forums, almost none of which tolerate the use of the term "weaboo" because the boards in general do not allow the use of derogatory terms, period. The fact that whoever sets the rules for this forum feels that, even when proof can be given to the contrary, the term is not offensive speaks VOLUMES about that person's/those persons views. In fact, the report function clearly states that it is to be used to report, among other things, rude posts. I would consider name-calling extremely childish and rude. Is me saying that I want to jump through the internet and beat the guy senseless mature? No, no it is not, and if somebody reported me for it, they would be just, and I'm willing to bet I would have been reprimanded. Scratch that, I WAS reprimanded, while being told that my complaint was invalid. Granted, the poster was told not to come back here, but nothing was done about what was actually said (meaning the post was not removed) which thus gives other users the idea that calling anime fans names is okay on these forum boards. Why should they be allowed to call us anything but anime fans? Why is this supported on these forums? I do not understand this; as I stated before, tolerating this falls into a small minority of the forums I frequent. And let me just throw out there that I only frequent one anime forum (the otakon boards), because quite honestly anime elitists are even more annoying than music elitists. I do not feel that I should ever have to be told to live with a double standard; I have been raised under the mindset that people are equal, and what's not good for one person therefore should not be good for me. And if my little rant here gets me banned, well, that also says a lot.

Oh ... wow this is an old thread
What? Oh...well...I wish I would have realized that...I feel like a real ass now. I mean, I stand by everything I said, but I would not have made such a fuss over the issue had I realized it occurred over a year ago...ahem...
Er...well, I doubt anymore mods are going to bother coming in here anyway, but if so...I'm pulling out of this argument. There's no point in me continuing it over something that, in forum time, is ancient history. As I said, I stand by my convictions, but I really thought this was something that had happened recently...now I feel like a damn fool...
