Should I have to hit them relatively hard to get hits to register? I'm not sure if my kit has issues or not, but it seems that I have to hit it with considerably more than a "light tap" like I saw in some drum videos online.

Take a stong piece of tape and tape the sides of your non sensative pads. You want to tape them almost 100% down, that should increase your reactivness. Also, call EA< tell them your kit sucks, and they will send you a new one. You should NOT have to bang on em at all

Yeah, I did the tape thing, and thanks, I'll call them about that. Jeez, I get my bass pedal replaced and now this.

i've only had the game two days, but i haven't had any problems... YET....

i don't think my drums aren't reactive enough, but it seems like i have to hit the drum a milli-second early to hit the note perfect... i've tried messing with the calibration stuff and setting it manually... but it doesn't really seem to help.
any tips?

'cause i've been drumming in real life for the past 6 years (i'm almost 16)... i've had lessons and i'm in a band and i'd liked to think i'm moderately good... but it's hard sometimes to stay in tempo on this game.

I had this problem at first too. The trick is to not watch the notes as you do when playing guitar. When you play guitar you wait for the note to cross the line and time the hit. However, this doesn't working well for drumming I've found. Since you should know the beat of a song you should be looking ahead and playing the rhythm. As a drummer you know when snare hits are coming so all you are looking ahead for is variations.

The normal reaction when you get comfortable in a song is to slow the tempo ever so slightly, or "lay back". I've found that you must be agressive with this game, almost as if you're pushing the band. It's tough, but it's a great skill to have when drumming in real life. Guitarists think they have a great sense of time, but more often than not they don't.:D
