Quite an odd question i know, but does anyone else get game sickness? Rock Band is okay for this but I find other games (Viva Pinata particularly) make me go green with the way the camera moves etc....
Would be interested to know if it's just me being a freak or if it's common....

It's actually quite common. That's why they have those warnings before games and in booklets about taking a break if you feel dizzy or sick.
I have a lot of friends that don't play first-person shooters for this reason.

Yeah first person shooters and driving games are horrid for that....i nearly puked after one of my friends played one of the Metal Gear Solid games for an hour and a half.. it happened when i went to see the new Terminator movie as well....

This is called "simulator sickness". It is basically the same thing as motion sickness.
If you wish, you can take a Dramamine about an hour before you play and this should alleviate the symptoms significantly. Dramamine can make you extremely drowsy though, so keep that in mind.:)

I get it sometimes if I'm watching someone else play.

Anyone know if you can get these in the UK? Or if not, do Kwells and that type of thing work?

For some reason, playing bass in RB makes me dizzier than playing drums. Not so much that I can't play, but I need to take breaks a lot more often to keep my eyes from going buggy. Maybe I focus on the screen differently for some reason.
I generally don't have a problem with FPS or racing games, though. Although PGR4 with the helmet view on the motorcycles is crazy.

Hmmm....I am not sure if you can get Dramamine in the UK. Kwells should work though. :)

If there's one person on here to ask with medicine advice, it would be Frizzy.

I have actually experienced vertigo and visual changes after watching someone play a couple of drum charts before.
I thought someone had drugged me at first.:p When I looked away from the TV, the floor was "waving". It was really strange. Then I remembered that if you stare at something that moves constantly for a long period of time, your brain sends conflicting signals to your eyes, causing a visual discrepancy.

Nope! It happened to me too. It is your brain trying to regain control over your visual center. Totally normal, even if it doesn't appear that way.:)

I recall getting nausea anytime I played Wolfenstein 3D.

That used to happen to me all the time when I first discovered Guitar Hero. Tripped me out....but then I'd play that game for hours on end.
Doesn't really happen to me anymore with RB, definitely not with Drum charts.
I have a couple of friends who complain about their eyes hurting after playing RB or GH because they don't blink. Jaysus just blink!

I'm that way with racing games, since I need to focus harder than with other games.

Funny though....I'm sure you blink when you drive a car IRL eh? :)

Indeed, but I'm not driving 150+ mph around tight corners. Unless I'm really late...

I was playing mario kart DS on the mountain level. I got up and started walking while still playing. Got super sick in an instant.

Normally I don't get motion sickness from games, but I played Rock Band on a massive screen the other day and that did it. (Though it could've just been something I ate, since that happens rather regularly.)
I used to get car- and sea-sickness when I was younger, but I seem to have overcome that. Never got air-sick though, oddly enough; I love flying.

This used to happen to me, when I started to play Guitar Hero II, but not anymore. I guess I got used to it.
