So, who do you think will win it, and in how many?

Apples

The series is about an 8 minute drive from me, so I've seen my share of games.

Texas by far has gotten lucky, and has played a weaker schedule, so I don't think they will stand up.

LSU brings the nutjob fans so they will have a home field advantage also. ;)

Im going to say LSU because i dont want to anger you, and i know nothing about College baseball because my team sucks(Michigan State).

Well to be fair, the southern half of the US has an obscene advantage for the sport.

They can practice year around and often play more games than northern teams.

To be honest, I get effing sick of seeing Florida and California teams dominate it every year. Texas is a close second.

Not anymore. NCAA placed mandates on practice times.

You really live FIVE MINUTES AWAY??? Dude, me and my dad are going next year(before it becomes the capital one CWS finals played in T.D. Ameritrade brought to you by geico)

EDIT: California? See:Call state Fullerton.

Yeah, the new stadium is a shame. The NCAA swooped in and held the city for hostage, threatening to move the series out of town after 60+ years unless the city bought them a new stadium.

It's the type of NCAA greed more befitting the BCS than college baseball. The taxpayers footing the bill can't even buy tickets for the event outside of scalpers. It's a total money grab. It's also going to absolutely kill the old neighborhood that holds the stadium too, it will be slumland in less than 5 years. The old stadium is all that it has supporting it.

But anyway, whether your team is here or not, the series is a great experience and I highly recommend visiting whenever you can. Some of the best sports, tailgating, and competition you will ever see.

Daesania
06-22-2009, 01:18 AM
Yeah well guess what apples, the place they're building the new stadium (potentially), is 3 blocks from my house. If that gets approved, I'm moving the hell away.

I WISH THE CWS WAS OVER. I HATE YOU OUT OF TOWN DRIVERS.

The one time of year people come to nebraska... i wish it had gone to another state, then people really would have no reason to come to Nebraska.

PS. I live like 5 miles from the current stadium, so i make sure i stay the heck away ;)

That was a fantastic game 1, the game going back and forth was really exciting. I'm very much looking forward to game 2 tonight, we'll see if Texas can bounce back from their bullpen issues to force a game 3.

Hey, this is Big 12 North country up here, so we tend to look down our nose at the other half of the division. ;)

Also, I have just had lousy experiences with Texas fans in the past. (I know they're not all bad, but I've had enough bad experiences that it has soured me against them.) So I tend to root against them for that reason. Plus that chant thing they do is annoying.

I can understand about the fans. Some of the fans disgust me and I'm a diehard Longhorn. I've actually gotten into scuffles with belligerent UT fans at games from time to time. But I think every team has those kinds of fans; it comes with the territory.

The chant is another story altogether. I'm not sure which one you're specifically referencing because we've got several. But I take part in every one of those so I understand if you have to hate me now. :D

But it's all in good fun and tonight's game should be great!

Nah, I don't hate you in the least because you mentioned the golden phrase... "all in good fun."

The ones that bother me the most are the ones who take it too seriously to a point where they lose sight of the game aspect become rude/belligerant/unsportsmanlike. (And that's not specific to Texas or even to baseball... boy the stunts that Colorado and Oklahoma will pull during football season!)

Oklahoma being in the championship game last year was a joke and a sham, plain and simple.

The pollsters voted for a flashy offense running up the score on chump opponents instead of the more fundamentally solid team.

Sorry man, but no one was going to stop Florida last year. If you want to play the "they beat them" game then the only team that beat Florida last year was Ole Miss who KILLED Texas Tech which was the only team who beat Texas.

But I don't like that "well they beat them so they would have won" game but after gave his little cry baby speech, no one was going to get in Florida's way. No one.

Just wait til Timmy comes back into Death Valley though this year :D

EDIT: However I do agree that Texas did get screwed BIG time out of the Natl Championship game. They were way better than Oklahoma and uh showed that on a neutral field. But still, either way Florida still would have won. I'm saying this and I hate Florida.

Well, once again, I disagree but that's what makes college football so much fun. I will say this though: win or lose, I definitely would've preferred Texas playing Florida instead of Ohio State. It would've been a much better game.

But what's done is done; it's in the past now. We've got a shiny new season getting ready to start and the debate can begin fresh. And this year Texas has the potential to go all the way.
