Your guess is as good as anybody's.

It has been speculated that weekly DLC may not be announced before release, and that the first announcement was to assure people that there would be weekly DLC. The thought is that only big DLC (Who's Next, Grateful Dead) will be announced beforehand and the rest will just be a surprise

While that's certainly a valid viewpoint, I only hope that they can continue to keep the newest items on the top of whatever download browsing system the PS3 and 360 use... Sorting through dozens of items to see what's new (or having to read a post here to find out what) would get old pretty quick... Although I'd still do it for the DLC. :)

Yeah, why is it so hard to find this info? It should be in the Announcement area, easy to find. But instead there's a weekly blog or something that's been abandoned since release of the game.

Forum moderator: Please make a consistent announcements section so we can look up existing DLC packs, and look at a schedule for the new and upcoming releases.

There should be a devoted part of the webpage, actually. It shouldn't be in the forums at all. Maybe it is already but I wasn't able to find it. I certainly don't mind being corrected if someone knows some link already.

The 360 marketplace has a section for recent DLC (I think within the last 2 weeks) automatically. If you miss a few weeks you could always check Wikipedia.

The blogs are "abandoned" because they took the original community site down just prior to the game launch (it was pretty much similar to MySpace). They're working on bringing up the new community site (with game integration), but we haven't gotten word of when that will be. Once the new community site is up, the Rock Blogs will return.

There has been no additional announcements of DLC. There is a DLC section on the new community site, I think that the news will appear there. There's no consistent section to make when there is no additional info to present.

I think that would be a mistake. Got to advertise that product and build demand.

Unless, of course, the DLC is from weird bands nobody's ever heard of. Then people would make their minds up in advance to not buy it. I'm guessing their covering their butts by not announcing it since all the big popular stuff is out of the way, now.

Bring on the Fall Out Boy!!

I disagree, and here's why:
Your excitement about DLC will fade with time.

Say they announce a DLC pack that comes out in one month. You look at it and say "Awesome, I'll buy that." Over the course of the month you become less excited for that pack, and more packs are announced which may interest you more. Both make people want to buy less DLC.

Say they release a DLC pack that was unannounced. You look at it and say "Awesome, I'll buy that." You go home and buy it (or wait two days if you own a PS3).

There will be no less hype if your average DLC pack is not pre-announced. There might likely be more, since the announcement hype and the "I just played it and it was fun"-hype will be happening at the same time.

Hopefully as next week come to a close we will get some kind of an announcement about the weeks to come in DLC.

The week after next is Christmas. That could go one of two ways, it could be a week break in the DLC because of the holidays, or we could get something somewhat special. I'm hoping for the latter, and I'm thinking most likely it would be Who's Next.

Just wondering what's coming after this weeks punk pack and next weeks pack.

Actually, if you look at Wikpedia's page about Rock Band DLC. It shows that the week after the punk pack is released that there will be just 3 individual songs released for download. Buddy Holly by Weezer, My Iron Lung by Radiohead, and Brass in Pocket by The Pretenders.

As far as anything after that, no clue.

Here's the link DLC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_in_Rock_Band)

Yeah I agree with this, plus you might start to allocate or plan out your DLC purchases. Something along the lines of, "Well I see this is coming out in 2 weeks, so even though I like this week's pack I'm gonna save my money for next week."

If you didn't know what was coming next week, you'd end up with both. As consumers, we're suckers like that. :P

You know they'd do it if they could... which convinces me that they will :)
