View Full Version : The Beatles: Rock Band Pricing For Wii: Wierd?

If you know, all Wii games ever released have been priced at $50 or below. This is excluding games with peripherals like Wii Fit or Mario Kart Wii & etc. When I saw the pricing for the stand alone The Beatles: Rock Band, I was like: "Hmm, Harmonix might have done a minor error?" It was priced $60 USD. Then I asked my forum friends and they were shocked as well. I said: "Maybe this time, the Wii might be getting a game that might be patchable and is capable of features that a 360 or PS3 can do." So here is my question...
- Why is the stand alone The Beatles: Rock Band cost 60 USD?
Put these variables as well on the game:
- Is it patchable & or have it's own downloadable channel?
- No Import
- Huge Beatles DLC?
- Improved Online Gaming?
- SDHC Compatible?
- Backward Instrument Compatible
- Only 48 Songs
- No Custom Created Characters
- Etc...
Please post your answers!

Well, Wii fans are always clamoring to be treated equal, no? ;)
And from what I've read, it is not feasible to do game patches on the console due to its architecture. Within the framework of the console, it is supposed to have as identical a feature set as possible.
And I'm not sure why you're talking about importation since that has been confirmed as not possible across all consoles.

Yes we are, but most, if not all, stand-alone Wii games are price at $40-$50 USD. So the $10 raise seems weird to us.
And yes, because of the way the Wii was made, it is not able to do patches.

So you want the same features as everyone else but at a discount?

Sure we want to be treated equal. But not priced equal.

Yes. Many Wii owners want to be treated as equal as Xbox and PS3, but a $10 price jump to me doesnt seem like too much. On Xbox, they can have downloadable packs for less while the Wii cant, making us buy everything separate for a higher price.
In the talk of DLC, Xbox owners get more for less, while the Wii has to buy everything separate, making us spend more money. So, to me, a $10 price jump could possibly equal out.

It's also not fair if Wii users have to pay the same price to get inferior graphics compared to the PS3/360 versions of the game.

We also might have to pay less because of graphics. Thanks for pointing that out. :)

Also, when you download DLC, the album art disappears.

Well They should have paid the extra (or in some cases less) money for a system that can have more space in able for games to have Patches and Graphics

LOL - I paid $60 for my RB2 version for the Wii.
I must have gotten jipped at Best Buy.
And as it has been stated, the things you are asking for are mostly related to architecture deficiencies and have been debated on the forum at nausium.
SDHC will probably be in the new version.
Talk to Nintendo about game patches...that is not a RB issue.
Online Gaming is most likely the issue of the Wii network not RB
Everyone gets the same amount of songs
I used my RB1 instruments for RB2. Not sure about that issue
Graphics are limited by the Wii Console...HMX did not deliberately diminish the graphics for you. That is what can be rendered.
Dont hold your breath for imports...as HMX has stated, It is not going to happen

Yes, that is also true. We also cant see the new album release on the front page of the Music Store. I wish you could also download the album cover. That would give me even more of a reason to download Vengeance is Mine.(I love that album cover. :) )

It's not Harmonix's fault, if anything the Wii users should pay more because if the Wii's graphical capabilities were on par with the PS3/360 they wouldn't have to create the specific models for the Wii version ;)
You want equal? Pay equal, if not don't complain about any shortcomings.

But lets just hope that The Beatles: Rock Band is gonna improve & have some better or even exclusive features from its predecessor Rock Band 2...

Rock Band 2 Wii Flaws:
- No Tattoo Makers
- No Face Painting
- Shirt Painting
- Album Art Disappearing
- SDHC (Not Harmonix Fault)
- No Import
- Wii Graphics < Xbox/PS3 Graphics
I'm sorry to say this but, even though RB 1 to RB 2 was a major improvement. We still lack many features. Lets see if 60 USD is the right pricing for The Beatles: Rock Band. Good thing is that I reserved it & I'm getting 3 free songs! So thanks Gamestop/Harmonix for the promotion!

Although most of the stuff you said(Tattoo making, Face painting, and shirt painting) I could care less about. Although I am kinda bummed about album covers disappearing.

It appears someone has come to like me. I dont see that alot. :p
But there is one thing I did do bad: I bought GH:WT. Although its good when you first play it, it gets old fast and its just not as fun as Rock Band.
