I don't see why so many people want metal it's not the fun to play and gets very boring after awhile. I mean I don't know if I could stand another Laid to rest, or Red Lottery. Oh god.

Red Lottery was a mistake for the game
Metal covers a lot more than Laid to Rest even begins to show, which is why I really want it in there

Yeah I know there is different types of metal but it seems people want a lot of terrible metal bands in it. Metal music isn't fun to play. Or for me anyways.

Well I'm pretty sure the game isn't gunna be filled with metal, but it wouldn't be fair to the (very obvious) large amount of people that want metal in the game to not include any at all. And Guitar Hero definitely didn't have much metal at all.

I want a bit of metal in the main game, for the sake of hitting a solid variety of styles, and since there's just about endless room for DLC, I'd like to see a lot more released to make metal fans happy (so long as that doesn't preclude them releasing DLC that makes ME happy).
Plus, there's some good metal out there, and it can be fun to play.
That said, I'm down with the shut the **** up about getting more metal crowd. I'm sick of seeing 47,000 Dragon Force threads, and I'm tired of hearing how GH 2 would have been much better if only they'd taken out famous mainstream song X and put in DeathHyperBorgia Vauxhall's Midnight Symphony of the Leper, because they're Norway's most technically brilliant black metal band, and the guitarist shreds at 180 licks per second.

Now what kind of metal are you speaking of? I agree that black metal and death metal would be boring, as the vocals would suck and it would just be a mess. However, some of the older metal would be fun, like Metallica.

Basically I just want them to put it all in there, release downloads for specific genres, and then people can play whatever they want to play.

I am going to be very angry if there aren't any good hard metal songs. Those songs are fun. Laid to Rest is one of my favorite songs to play on expert. It is a rush to play and to hear. Of course not everybody is going to like it. What is important is that there is a good mix of rock spanning the different forms of rock. I know there are going to be song on there that I will loath. There is no getting around the pressence of c*ck rock. I hate c*ck rock. I know I am going to get yelled at about this, but I think bands like Boston, Journey, and Queen are complete garbage. If Journey is in the game then I might not buy it. I hate them that much. They can make journey downloadable to appease all you journey fans.
As much as I love metal, I am into punk a lot more. I really want there to be some good punk and psycobilly songs. I almost pissed myself when I saw Institutionalized and Psycobily Freakout on the GH2 set list.

Laid to rest and red lottery FAIL at metal too btw , they aren't the only sort of metal in the world... they are but 1 subgenre.
Edit: Wtf? how come I can get videos embedded in here but pictures don't work?

Lordi, Hammerfall, and Dragonforce are all great Metal bands. Metal is the best type of music, and that's just that. Yeah you have Lamb of God, but come on, who wants to sing like that? I think the best Death Metal band is Dethklok. The singing could be better, yah, but the rest of the band kicks major arse.

I prefer punk, alternative and just rock music, but I wont die cause of metal in the game as long as there is enough variation including the 3 styles I mentioned

I wouldn't mind if they had some Metal but I don't want it overloaded with it. I just can't imagine one of my friends or someone online screaming into the mic and doing all those really deep voices.

No, no Dragon Force or Sonata Artica.
Metallica will be a helluva lot of fun to play. Death Metal and really heavy metal is on the outs for me. But yeah I would love to have some good metal, but on my terms probably differs from most of you but some is good but not all metal.

No, Sonata Artica

Are your ears broken? Sonata would be really fun for the guitar and microphone........

I absolutly agree with you!! I've played the metal songs of GH2 once in career mode and never again.
There not fun to play, they are not fun to listen.
But still, I'm okay with having a few (like 2 :D ) in the list to please all the metalheads out there.
But well, you also have to sing in Rock Band, and you can't sing most of the Metal Songs.
And... hmm, well it's probably a question of taste. But I also hope for more songs that don't hurt your ears that much.

No uh my ears work fine. I don't see how people like them. I'm not one for fairy metal. Sorry. They aren't my cup of tea. But I would like to see another Pantera song in.

There's 2861 genres of metal (despite those that think there's only 3). 2856 of these won't work for Rock Band so there's not much to worry about.

Where's my 'Maiden dammit? I want some Number of The Beast or Powerslave.
I'm a fan of many music genres from ska to raegae to acid punk or metal. I'll listen to anything with a good beat, tempo, and lyrics, like any other good music fan.
Though repetitive, long, mind-numbing riffs and overused basslines can lose it's touch after a while. There are alot of subgenres in the main genre of metal. It all depends on the genre you're talking about.
To be honest, I think death metal and black metal are one of the most unoriginal genres in music history. Generic gutteral grunts, repetitive, over-distorted, guitaring, and ear-shattering drumming, to me, isn't what makes good music. I'm not saying all black and death metal bands are unoriginal, it's just that we're seeing too many carbon-copies of other bands every single day within every single genre, not just metal.
With that in mind, be careful of the generalizations you make in music genres. :P

good point. I'd like to hear at least a bit of metal in this game, but like you said, not the "gutteral grunts" or "over-distorted guitaring". Something with a bit of a melody would be good, as well as some actual singing like ZP Theart from Dragonforce (the 80's singing style). They can't please everyone with this game no matter how many songs they let you d/l. The metal heads are gonna want more metal, the oldies are gonna want more classics, and the "too-good-for-mainstream" guys are gonna want more indie (you realize that this is a MTV product? good luck on indie music..). So what they'll end up doing is taking a little from columns A, B, and C.

guys....calm down. surly metal will be in the game. but i doubt that they will look into the deeper not so well known bands but look what you guys are saying. your kicking out a gerne of music cause you dont like it. theres fans out their who enjoy this stuff. i mean if you like DragonForce and i dont....its just a matter of opinion. Harmonix has a job to do. they have to please their fans. PPL. Im sure you didnt like ALL the songs in GHI and II but others did. just dont play it if you dont want to. its all up to you. remmember. Its all a matter of opinion.
im not here to argue. just gonna type my Opinion on the subject

I wouldn't mind a VERY small amount of metal...i may get a kick out of the songs once or twice but after that it will just get rather...boring...metal is not very fun on guitar or bass...very fun on drums...and as for singing...which i will mainly be doing....near impossible..i can't sing that crap...all id be doing is screaming..i want some real music
