i hereby declare RB the new undisputed champion of party games. it's not even close.
i brought RB and GH3 to my skihouse this weekend. i may as well just left GH3 at home. it was never played.
there was however an extensive RB set from the skihouse band Saturday evening, with a special late-night encore set at 1:30a after the bars closed. while we were at the bar, there was lots of talk of "putting the band back together" as soon as we got home. LOL!
the one thing GH has over RB is the wireless guitars. they rock. drum solo? i need a beer. i'll be in the kitchen getting a beer if you need me. :)

Being a former GH fan, I will tell you that since Launch Day of RB, GH HAS NOT BEEN PLAYED AT ALL.
I still dont understand why the XBOX guitars are wired.
The wireless PS3 guitars work sweet, (now that they have been replaced).

Two good friends came into town for my birthday this weekend. We started a band from scratch, and by the end of the weekend had been inducted into the Hall of Fame and completed the Endless Setlist.
All three of us own GHIII, and playing it was never even mentioned.
And yes, if any game ever needed wireless controllers, it's this one. I'm still amazed that we didn't destroy anything tripping over all the wires.

I have GH3 and Rock Band on PS3 and given the terrible implementation of online connectivity on GH3, this was never likely to be a contest. That aside, Rock Band's gameplay has so much variety that it's mostly killed Guitar Hero for me (at least for the moment). When I'm not playing BWT with friends, I'm online with a full band or I'm soloing the BWT with guitar/vox, bass/vox or maybe eventually drums/vox.
I did put GH3 on once just the other day because I missed Cliffs of Dover and Cult of Personality. Then I realised how much I hate the PS3 wireless Les Paul. :D

Same thing is happening here at the office, where we have two guitars and play almost every day.
Part of it is the addition of vocals -- all sorts of people are participating that didn't used to when it was just two of us on guitar up there. Another part is that the game is more interesting for people who are not playing to sit and watch. We get more people in the lounge watching what's going on, and eventually they're brave enough to jump in.

Drums as well. I have a friend who hated every time we played GH (which was frequently). Once he sat down at the drums he felt compelled to run through the solo drum campaign.

Had a pretty big gathering (party) a couple of weeks ago and my sentiment's exactly as the other posts here... there is NO comparison. Sure the difficulty is harder in GHIII but who wants to stay stuck on the last 3 songs on expert like I am? Anyway, back to the party- I have friends calling ME asking when they'll get re-invited just so they can rock-out. Mind you I enjoy the online play more than company. So yeah, HMX has done a GREAT justice to the world by introducing this game. Guitar Hero is History on my console.

Yeah, I can't comment on that, as we don't have the drums yet. I didn't buy the bundle. At home I play with the wireless guitar from GH3, and at work we have a pair of wired guitars from GH2.
I hope to see what you're talking about in February, when I talk my wife into getting me the drum kit for my birthday...
