Playstation 2 release???

Iv search the forums but cant find much info on the PS2 version so here is my quesion. I have seen Dec. 11 and 18 both as release dates. After talking to my local Gamestop, I was told that they were not getting the bundle for the PS2 and the game was coming out on the 18th. I then went to my local Game Crazy and they said they are getting the bundle in for PS2 and it would be there on the 11th. I pre-ordered it at Game Crazy since I wanted the bundle, but does anyone know which date is correct? Any help would be appriciated.

I, too, would like to know the official release date for the ps2. I just called Best Buy and they are telling me December 19th.

As previously announced, Rock Band is slated for release on the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system on December 18, 2007 in North America. Rock Band will ship in Europe for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 and PlayStation 2 console in the first quarter of 2008.

We don't really know much as fact. We can only go by official press releases and tidbits on game sites.
Here's another quote:


The PS2 version of the game will feature "many" of the modes of the 360 and PS3 games, and will also incorporate some all-new gameplay elements.

We also do not know about guitar and/or game disk compatibility with the PS3.

The PS2 conversion was outsourced to another company.

Official details on exactly what features made it into the PS2 version have not been released, but it has been confirmed there will be no online features for it. So no online play and no Downloadable Content (the biggest missing feature IMO). Right now, I'm assuming the track list will be exactly the same and all the other big features (Band world tour, character creation, etc.) should be in the PS2 version.

We are certainly starved for official information regarding the PS2 version, I hope that gets remedied soon.

Bah, hadn't thought about no leaderboards. Guess I don't care too much about them :D. I'll miss DLC much more. Of course, ymmv.

That's my biggest gripe with this game, even though I have no idea what you can do in the online mode lol. I don't care much for DLC, since my dad wouldn't let me buy anyway.
