O.O!

So I was doing BWT with some people and breezing through a 5 song set when this came up as the last song. I was dieing after the initial y + bass rapid section and then that insane red yellow red bass stuff comes up. I can't really explain but if you have seen this song on hard you know what I am talking about.

So the question. How in the name of the rock gods do you do this?

This is the same advice I gave to my buddy on bass that we had to keep saving on this song: Beat the solo guitar tour on Hard. Do enough guitar solos and you'll be able to easily 100% the bass lines...funky bass lines just look like slowed-down guitar solos.

Yeah that song is a kick in the chops. You just gotta get those triplets timed right. Ba-Da-bump Ba-da-yellow.

You can do it! :P

My first time through I finished with a score of about 35,000. I'm now up to a fairly consistent ~90,000. Still not where it needs to be, but getting there.

First tip: Go deliberately slower. I found in the frantic-ness of trying to hit the bass pedal I was do the triplets too fast.

Secondly: Make EVERYTHING deliberate. Divide each measure into the RRR RR(Y+kick). It's just a series of those, and the things in between are either those really easy fills or the drum roll fills (which I cannot advise you as I don't do those well).

Thirdly: Remember, for the most part, you're only kicking on the Yellow.

Fourthly: When you get up to the RR(R/k)RR(Y/k)RR(R/k)... and the following (R/k)RRRRRRRRRR(R/k) (R/k)RRRRRRRRR(R/k)... all bets are off. Have fun filling your way through the first time :p

How different is the Hard bass part to the Expert? I'm not sure if I've played it on Hard... but on Expert there's not much chance of me getting 100% on that anytime soon! :p

Just a slight correction, on Hard level, there's no kick on the yellows. So it's RR(R/k) RRY RR(R/k) RRY

I don't know why, but dropping the bass hits on yellow makes it HARDER for me. I hate this song.

You're right, they're on the red. Same strategy applies though.

In other, more interesting news, this song is apparently ridiculously hard because of a constantly wavering tempo. I didn't realize it had so many miniscule jumps.

There's another thread with a few good tips there as well:

Good luck beating it!

Here's how I break the song down by parts. I went into the song with a strategy of just trying to pass it to beat the career mode... if you want a 5* strategy this isn't it. This is Apples' patented "I want to beat hard career mode and be done with this lousy song" strategy.

Intro: Arguable the "easiest" portion of the song... try to focus on the orange pedal even at the cost of breaking combo and missing yellow notes. You'll want to use this area to hold as much rock meter as possible.

Main Riff: Treading this section is a make or break point. Either you learn it well enough to keep the rock meter afloat, or you fail. There are a couple keys to success.

First, focus on the red/pedal notes, even at the expense of keeping combo. The orange is predictable and the reds are in heavy supply.

Second, energy phrases. There are at least 3 very easy and legitimate chances to collect energy phrases. Stop what you are doing and collect them, even if you need to break combo to set up for it. Once you collect 2, you'll start getting "breaks" in the riff for fills which can help. You don't want to actually activate overdrive in this repeating riff pattern at all costs.

Solo Riff: During and after the guitar solo, the song goes into the real crux of the drum performance. It's a mess of fast red notes and massive pedal action. Here is where you want to dump that 2-4 overdrive phrases you have collected. Hopefully you've collected enough to survive and advance. There is a fill section about 10-15 seconds into that section which is the "sweet spot" for overdrive activation, but also one right before it starts if you're desperate.

Main Riff Repeated: If you beat it the first time, you're in the downhill slide. Use overdrive if you can get it, otherwise enjoy the big rock ending.

Here is my guide. Get a friend who has some coordination. have them play only the red and yellow pads while you play blue, green, and the bass drum. This is how I beat it with my friend. It was hilarious and awesome. His brother walked in and was like wtf... why are there 2 people playing one drumset?

Ya, this song is INSANE on the drums on Hard. But, like me, as soon as you beat it once you will be able to beat it everytime after that. Now for Expert, thats INSANE-ER, than Hard. Wait a second, your talking about bass guitar, nevermind....

If you're anything like me, you probably start your rolls with the left hand, and so Lefty Mode flips the R/R/R R/R/Y to G/G/G G/G/B. This makes the left/right/left rolls easier when they move from the Green to Blue pads, as it's your inside hand that's moving to the blue pad.

At least that's why I think it worked for me.
