What's your opinion on the DLC you bought and what you expected to get from it?
I'm not talking about "Hey that song sucks because I've never heard it." I'm more interested in opinions on whether the songs sounded like you wanted them too or if they were particularly easier or harder than you expected.
I'm satisfied with the DLC overall, however I think T. Rex's Bang a Gong needs a redo. The note chart is fine, but the cover itself was pretty ragged in my opinion. I guess I was expecting more pronounced lyrics. Hard to explain, but the lyrics on this song are quite monotone and without feeling throughout...in direct contrast to the original. I wish I'd had the ability to listen to this one beforehand.
On the good side of things...I think the Black Sabbath covers were all pretty much spot on. I know it's hard to get a good Ozzy impersonator, but the songs were done in the spirit of the originals and that's what I like to hear. I also love Fortunate Son for the same reasons. That's one of the better covers out there I think.

The black sabbith pack wasn't really as good as I expected it to be it was the right difficulty for me.

I'll tell you one thing I didn't expect -- I didn't expect the DLC to earn me a salary in career mode or to come up in random set lists in band world tour. I'm pretty delighted that both work.
We were just playing here at the office at lunch time. I brought my memory card in, with my DLC and my band's save on it. A co-worker was helping me with band world tour, and we finally got to the gig that gets you a sound guy of your own. The set list was random tracks and then "Highway Star". One of the random tracks was "Juke Box Hero". We nailed it, and now I have a sound guy. It was great!

I bought the Police pack, Fortunate Son, Heroes, and Jukebox Hero. All were spot-on... the non-covers were, of course, great, but the covers were great too. The notecharts are well balanced, providing just enough challenge to casually cruise through the songs and enjoy experiecing them without any frustration. Singing's a delight on Fortunate Son, notably. (Jukebox Hero a bit less so but that's because it has so many random variations on the standard lines that it takes several playthroughs to get them memorized.)
I haven't really hit a "low" point yet... maybe Heroes. I got this because my sister wanted to sing it but frankly it's not that engaging of a song on guitar (too simple) or vocals (too scattershot).
I do wish more people online would get DLC other than Metallica and Sabbath, though... I've only managed to play DLC ONCE in a four person band, when for some reason, everybody had Jukebox Hero...

I've been pleasantly surprised by Cherry Bomb. You don't hear a lot about it, but I got it on a whim and it's become one of the most popular songs to play during get-togethers. If you have any ladies playing (well, even if not), it's a nice song to get silly on. Make sure everyone chants the chorus!
Also, the Wolfmother song is really fun on the drums.

I really like the difficulty jump on the Metallica DLC from the challenge perspective, but I'm concerned at the impact it might have on people doing random setlists in BWT mode. Personally, I'll take the risk and lose some fans but it seems like it's a real issue for many.
Hmmm, there's one track that escapes me (might be one of the Sabbath ones) that has a very washed out guitar track. Could be an artifact from the original track if it's not a cover, but it doesn't make it easy to listen to.
I'm ecstatic about My Sharona and the solo on Expert guitar. :D The Police pack gets a nice thumbs up from me too. I've always loved Synchronicity II especially.

I forgot to mention My Sharona as well. Not only is the song well done, but there's a good guitar solo in there that hits you out of nowhere. Someone had mentioned that on another thread, but I forget who now :(. I totally agree though, makes that song a lot more fun than I'd originally expected.
Oh and it's nice that I only have to play 1 guitar part on 3's & 7's (shakes fist at GH3).

I've bought And Justice for All, Blackened, Little Sister, 3s and 7s, Moonage Daydream, and Heroes. AJFA is easily my favorite, because all the instrument parts are really fun. Heroes is probably my least favorite, because it's a little boring both vocally and instrumentally. Also, on both of the Bowie songs (and actually Suffragate City as well), I don't feel like the pitch chart for vocals is correct. When I sing at the pitch on the charts it doesn't sound right, but oh well. I was surprised to find the guitar on the chorus and at the end of Little Sister to be really challenging until I practiced it and figured out the best method to get through it.

I bought the Metallica and Black Sabbath pack. They're not the best songs from them, but I don't like most songs on the original game, so I'll drown them in better songs. Problem is that the songs I prefer are usually harder to play, so I don't get much stars when I get a random setlist that I like. :P

Best song to play to break the ice when showing people from an older generation in my opinion. it reaches to all music lovers

Since i bought RB last weekend, and i havnt had another payday hit since then, i havnt been able to download much. BUT i did get the metallica pack (spent my food money on it actually lol) just bc iam a die hard (old) metallica fan. While iam glad they chose a bunch of their 80's stuff, the only one i was truly excited about was Ride the Lightning. I was hoping to see at least ONE of their instrumentals (Orion, Call of the Ktulu, To Live is To Die) which are imo some of their best songs ever written, 'Orion' especially, since its bass would probably be badass to play.
When i get paid again this thursday il be picking up the Sabbath pack for sure, but i might just go all out and buy em all, i want the complete RB experience!

The sabbath pack was pretty good imo. I really like Joker and the Thief. Great song. Probably my fav DLC. I also have the metallica pack and jukebox hero but Joker is my fav.

Joker and The Theif I didnt WANT to get, but my bro convinced me and Im so glad I did. Its one of those ones where when it pops up in a BWT, we're all like "son of a..." but if you're in the zone and can just NAIL that opener, its one of the greatest "rock moments" ever.
The only song Ive purchased so far (I have everything BUT the Sabbath and Metallica packs) and REGRET is Bang A Gong. I pegged it to be a nice mellow tune to throw mid-set, but its just hard enough to be a challenge (on expert), and just slow and repetitive enough to be a challenge that no one gets hyped about. At all.

Moonage Daydream is definately my favorite. The lyrics are so bizzare and fun to sing, funky drum beat is great and definately helps newer drummers hit those off beat bass drums and the bass and guitar are a blast. i generally choose this whenver make a setlist pops up.
I haven't gotten anything I've regretted yet, although our guitarists regrets getting Bang a Gong.

I'm Canadian.
Anyhow, I've bought it all. I like Cherry Bomb, it's a lot of fun to sing.
I'm disappointed with the audio on "Sick, Sick, Sick" but maybe that's how it's supposed to sound?
Best (Favorites)
- "And Justice for All"
- "Blackend",
- All the Police songs (desceptive difficulty on the drumming there)
- "3's and 7's"
- "My Sharona" (I had no idea that song would be that difficult the first couple times we played it) are all most frequently played.
- I play JBH a bit but I'm like ranked 20th right now on Hard Drums but it's a middle-of-the-pack song (cover quality, charts, vocals)...
Worst (Least Played)
- I don't care for Queen ***** much
- nor Sick Sick Sick but that's purely a taste issue.
- While I like the song, I try to avoid playing Heroes because it's just so long and repetitive
Everything else is just 'good'.. welcome content for sure.. but I don't go out of my way to play them.
Looking forward to adding "Buddy Holly" to the favorites list next week.

The Metallica pack is good, but too long and tough for the beginners in the band.
Joker and the theif is great.
The David Bowie is kind of boring and dull.
Black Sabbath pack is great.
Is My Sharona available already?

I like the DLC for the most part, but I wish you could choose whether or not DLC songs get put in random setlists or not. I like that it's possible, but man, Enter Sandman totally KILLED us when it came up. I was on drums, and it's incredibly hard, mostly because throughout 2/3 of the song there's pretty much no pattern to the drumbeats at all... I was hanging on by a thread the whole time.
Sick Sick Sick is my new least-favorite song on Rock Band. Not only is it annoying to play, but the song sucks too.... it's like a double whammy.

Enter Sandman isn't DLC. It came on the disk.

You do realize that Enter Sandman was on the original disk and is not DLC so you would have been screwed even if you could turn of DLC.

We pretty much only DL things the group wants, but I have to say I was surprised how hard some of the DLC was.. don't like all of them go in the top 3-4 tiers?
Bang a gong I like as a training tool, on hard it uses lots of three note transition plays, which will help immensely on some of the expert songs.
Fortunate son and Metallica pack were good stuff too.

Naw, some of them are remarkably simple, eg. Roxanne, Cherry Bomb, Bang a Gong and Heroes.

I was totally excited to play Ride the Lightning, as that is one of M's best songs, but for some reason, it was not as fun to play as I thought it would be. However, And Justice, is way more fun then I thought it would be. I guess you never know.
Ive liked all the content so far, the song I truely hate is on the disk. I forgot what it is called, but it's some guy whining about turning over the record or something. Yech!

all the DLC has been great so far, there's a few things I haven't picked up yet.
bowie pack (mainly because of song choices, personal preference)
and some of the single trx.
just waiting for the content to start spanning more time and genre's, I'd like to see more 90's rock personally nirvana/PJ/AIC ect. along with newer/harder metal trx. (not so much black metal/death metal, but some good nu-metal and megadeth/pantera style material)
but so far it's been pleasant to have a game I can update/or at least have the option of updating weekly.

So far I've purchased...
The Police Pack
David Bowie Pack
Black Sabbath Pack
Fortunate Son
Joker & the Thief
Jukebox Hero
Played all of them, and I'm happy with each purchase. Yeah, "Heroes" is definately on the repetitive side, but that song, along with a lot of David Bowie's other major hits, has been a big part of my formative years and it means a ton to me that I can actually play it on a game like this. I hope another Bowie pack is in the offing sometime in '08, with another cut from The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust so I could do a three song set from that whole album if I so desired.
Right now, I'm looking forward to "Brass in Pocket" and "Buddy Holly" the most, and I'll likely grab the Punk pack, too, for variety's sake.
