Play-Asia just cancelled pre-orders for an Asian version of Rock Band, saying the following:
"We are very unfortunate to inform you that the release has been cancelled by the manufacturer.
Even though the game has been announced for quite a while, we just got the information from our distributors that there will be no Asian release of Rock Band.
We do not know the causes for this decision and can only apologize for the inconvenience cause."
What's going on? -CampingKev, Xbox owner in Tokyo, Asian version

I didn't think it was ever announced for Asia. Were any of the GH games released there?

If I were to guess (and I am guessing), its that the prospects in the Asian market are fairly low due to this game being a re-hash of the guitar-mania and beat-mania games.

Holy $#!% on a stick!!!!! Was gonna preorder it too 2 days ago when I came upon THAT... Oh well...I'll just have to buy a US 360 then, probably the Arcade one which is $278 without an HD, I can live with changing HDs from console to console. It really sucks a$$ that you have to buy another version of a console that you already own to play just ONE game. THANKS EA

You could consider picking up a PS3. Sony doesn't region-lock their games.

I'm quite aware of that, thanks for your suggestion, but the thing is I really don't have the money for a PS3 right now,and I've already bought another guitar for it,seeing as guitar hero guitars work on the 360 version of rock band because of open standards, which is one of the reasons I didnt hesitate to buy the game in the first place, knowing that I could buy another guitar for bass right away. But as I said plunking down 278 for a core system's not that bad. :p

Are you planning on buying the external hard drive later? I'd imagine if you plan on buying a lot of the DLC songs in the future, the lack of hard drive in the Arcade system is going to cost you more in the long run as you buy more and more memory cards to store additional DLC songs.

Just import the non-PAL version and a non-PAL version of a 360, or just get a PS3 (PAL is fine) and import RB from America or something.

Thanks for the replies people! I guess my replies have confused people since I didn't specify where I'm from and what system I had (have a JP 360 BTW). I live in Puerto Rico, which is part of the US, PLUS I work at GameStop, (For those few that don't know,a leading videogame retailer in the US)(Also got RockBand for $130,pretty good eh?) So it's really easy for me to get a 360 arcade system at a lower price, trust me. The reason I want the 360 arcade system right now is because I can't be paying $349 + TAX (Yes,Puerto Rico has tax now :( ) Instead of $278, as I don't have enough money for it at the time. I'll definately buy the HD later, but for now I'm fine swapping HD's from my JP 360 to the US one ;)
P.S. To the people that live near the Humacao area in Puerto Rico,we have alot of Rock Band bundles available in case you want 'em, Our little storage room's full of 'em :)
