Alright, due to the constant begging, I'm going to start this over and do it the right way. First two competitions:

Silversun Pickups vs. Spiritualized
and
The Shins vs. Pixies

SSPU is my second favorite band, and I prefer Pixies over The Shins.

Shame most of the SSPU fans on these forums have never heard of Spiritualized. Spiritualized never stood a chance, and they're infinitely better IMO.

This confirms my suspicions that SSPU are horribly overrated on these boards (in my opinion of course) and that more people need to hear Spiritualized. gasp, I used the "o" word

SSPU are horribly overrated on message boards, period. I still love them, however.

Not too much, but when my buddy was listening to them about, oh, 7-10 years ago, I heard the song "Electricity" and I think I remember a song called "I Think I'm Falling in Love" or something. I don't have much to go off of, but I love most of SSPU's stuff, so I picked them.

Still, I think it's unfair that some people (not singling anyone out here) vote for one band when they aren't familiar with the band they're going against. At least give the other band a chance and check out a song or two so you're at least being somewhat fair to the opposition.

This should apply to any band/matchup, not just here, by the way.

i enjoy all 4 bands this time around.

the 1st match-up is really tough, because i love both bands and consider one album from each to be a "perfect 10" (carnavas and ladies and gentlemen respectively).
however, i've got to go with silversun pickups.
not only do i find myself listening to them more frequently, but i consider their work after ladies and gentlemen to be much less consistent (and sometimes actually very meh).
spiritualized technically have more good music, but that's not quite fair considering i remember purchasing my first album of theirs over a decade ago.

the 2nd match-up is MUCH easier... i like the shins and all, but yeah, pixies all the way.

Well, its a little late now, the previous rounds are erased, but I do know this: if I had kept going like how I originally had it, The Shins would be against The Smiths.

The Shins have nothing on the Pixies. Nothing. Though they should of been grouped up with a similar band in their scene or something. Maybe Bloc Party, The Strokes or something.
