I did mine with Mississippi Queen. Cause there's not many notes. Less chances to screw it up. :D

A good portion of the songs were recorded with the bassist getting a flawless groove, I'm pretty sure you could do the same with only 5 fret buttons :(

it just occurred to me why people might be having trouble with something like this.

You're playing a bass part. Stop pretending you're holding an electric guitar and start pretending you're holding an electric bass. For the most part, you don't use a pick on a bass (again, at least not for a lot of these songs). Use finger picking to "strum" upwards, it makes a lot more sense.
