Ok I got my replacement guitar today. They seemed to have packed it nicely but there were so many scratches on the guitar, it kind of makes you wonder if it was actually new.

I would also like to say that this guitar is BROKEN! The Overdrive goes off randomly and doesnt go when you want it to.

If seems HMX is just sending out somewhat broken guitars for the fully broken guitars. They wanted to hold another 120.00 on my CC. Umm....NO.

I will be returning the whole game back to the store until they get their act together. I don't pay to become a beta tester.

For people who dont have alot of money, I feel sorry for them because they have to use the other method and wait and wait days before they get their guitar or whatever replacement.

What would happen if I finally get a working guitar and we all play on the game like it was intended and then after 60 days the drums break?

What kind of BS warranty is 60 days from purchase when you never get to play with it until 60 days because you have to keep sending the guitar back in.

LAME! LAME! LAME!

Of course there not NEW. With all the guitars their getting back broke, to save costs their most likely replacing parts in them and sending them back out the door. It's just like if your X-Box or PS3 broke. You send it in, they send you a replacement/refurbished one. AKA, someone elses broken piece of crap. No wonder so many people are getting broken guitars as replacements.

If you all think your getting brand spankin new equipment.....wrong!!

That's interesting because the tech support person told me they are NOT REFURBISHED and that they are BRAND NEW.

If they are refurbished why cant they TEST them before they go out so we are not stuck with a bad replacement?

Well I said that's most likely the case. I would take what a customer service rep tells you with a grain of salt as he works in a different dept than the people who are getting, fixing, shipping back out these guitars...if indeed that is what their doing. But think about it, you get a brand spankin new guitar off the assembly line and it has scratches all over it??? It shouldn't, the origional one you got didn't. Many people have said in different threads their replacement guitars are all beat up looking too. Just guessing of course, but I'd bet their not brand new but refurbished.

And to answer your question, they are probably making thousands of guitars, drumbs, mics a day, to test them all they'd have to hire and pay a few hundred people to test every single product. The general rule is, you make one that performs as it should and as long as you make all the rest the exact same way, virtually all should also work with no problems. Hence the 'assembly line' to ensure all get made the same.

But seriously though, if a guitar is all scratched up...unless if fell of the assemply line on the floor or some workers were playing with it before they packaged it in the box....I highly doubt it brand new.

Does that mean we should should spray the replacements with anticeptics because the last guy that used the refurb could have been picking his butt then pounding out mississippi queen?

Well that's up to you. Although I'm sure Mississippi Queen isn't what he was 'pounding out' and got all over the guitar after picking his butt.

If you think the crap you just spewed above was correct....wrong!!

This is an outright lie and nothing more than yet another attempt to spread FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) about EA.

See here the statement made by an EA employee on this very forum:

Hey David, I know thats what they post but there are deep scratches and stickers on my guitar that make me think its not BRAND NEW. I'm sure thats what EA probably wanted but that doesnt seem to be whats leaving the manufacturer.

I relate this whole problem to a pie factory I used to work at. The machinery lines can be perfectly in sync and everything, but you still have at least six people at the end of the conveyor belt catching the pies that mucked up, along with the testers that make sure contaminants and foreign objects are nowhere to be found.

Seems like the same thing here, minus the QA (quality assurance) staff posted throughout most of the assembly process. Too much/little soldering, etc. like that needs to be checked while it's still in the manufacturing plant. On the guitars that are being sent back, a report on all the malfunctioning parts of the equipment needs to be filed and categorized to help clarify whatever changes are necessary to refine their machinery.

And the way people's guitars have been pathetically replaced with equally or worse products, I wouldn't be surprised if the plant didn't have anyone that knew just how these things were supposed to be built...

can you actually return the whole bundle, cuz if I could, I probably would. But I doubt that Game$top would take it back...their return policies suck

I didn't say 100% that's what they was doing, I said that seems most likely that's what their doing. As the guy right below you just mentioned, he got a replacement guitar with deep scratches and STICKERS on his guitar. Brand new guitar???? I think not!!!!!

Now stick that toothpick back in your mouth and continue riding cowboy...yee haaa!!!

I got mine at Walmart and it's still under 30days. So I can return it claiming broken guitar since it is broken. And voila, finished with Rockband.

I really like the game but I'm sick of having to deal with the faulty equipment. Perhaps by second quarter of next year they will have their problems fixed and I'll get it or I'll just read the bad news here and get a real band together...haha

Sucks because I can play guitar, bass and drums but not many people can play real instruments or have the time to learn songs without a game.

Thats why this game is so spectacular... it grabs everyone, the no talent musician as well as real band members.

Too bad.

Honestly buddy what I'd do is take your set back to Wal-mart, get your money back, take it home and put it in an envelope and hold on to it for another month or two until Harmonix redesigns their equipment so it's better quality and all the bad sets filters out of the stores.

Harmonix may be making better guitars today, but that doesn't mean every store has those good guitars tomorrow.

Wait and re-buy the game later. I don't have the game but I really want it. But in reading all these threads of all these equipment failures and people getting "brand spankin new" replacement equipment as the cowboy above with the poopy toothpick in his mouth swears is true, (dispite many people have been getting scratched, damaged, with Sponge Bob stickers on them that proves otherwise), I'm going to wait till the end of January or February till I get Rock Band.

I'd rather be safe than sorry!!

I'm going to try and return it at gamestop, but i dont think they'll give me anything back...maybe I should start buying my games from walmart, they actually HAVE a return policy

Don't places like Gamestop, EB Games, etc usually over price their merchandise in the first place?? Why would you buy from any of them if that's the case. Yeah they might buy your used games but they are stil ripping you off. Take a game to them to sell, before you take it up to the guy, go look for the same game and what they're selling it for used. Probably double what they're going to give you for it. It's a rip off. But maybe it's better than nothing I suppose.

But yeah, buy your games from a store that let you return broken merchandise.

If I went out and bought this game today and began to have all the equipment issues you guys do, ta hell with EA/Harmonix and their exchange program. I'm taking it back to the store for an actual NEW set or getting my money back. Doing it that way you instantly get new equipment, don't have to have 125 bucks held on your credit card, no shipping hassles, no waiting etc.

Take it back to the store for an exchange. It's instant, and you know your getting NEW equipment, not refurbished crap with scrathes and stickers on it.

it normally cost the same at gamestop as it does everywhere else, but your right about the trade-ins, they might buy your game between 20-30 and sell it at 55. but I was going to see if I could return it completely, but if not, maybe i'll just complain that I want to exchange it and then just see if I can take the fresh box to another store to return it or something

Dude, I'm getting really tired of seeing this response from you. You must have this little response typed up in a txt file ready to go. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've seen you post this same message to people thinking their replacements are refirbished.

I'm going to say this once. If you have anything else to base your response on other than "a person claiming to be with EA said so" then I might listen. Employees of EA say lots of things. Why is it that many people who are getting replacements are reporting that they looked used, scratched, scraped, don't work etc.

Why are you so quick to post this little message every time someone states the obvious? When I talked to a supervisor the other day I told him my situation and what I thought. He told me that from what he has been told, they are supposed to be new. He then said, but it does sound like they are refirbishing them. He didn't just say, "well they told me they are new so they must be." He told me that he has no idea what goes on with that side of it and neither does Violet. She just says what she is told to say. I really doubt they are going to admit to refirbs this early in production. The supervisor I talked to said he is going to look into.

Anyway, we know our guitars are not new. So do you have anything else to say other than Violet said they are new so stop spreading lies?

The one I got today is a refurbished guitar. There is no doubt and I am not at all surprised. The entire set up is in a box and I am putting my shoes on to take it back to Wal-Mart. This game is nothing more than Guitar Hero with a very loud annoying woodpecker sitting behind you pecking off beat.
