ok, just was shopping around thinking about getting the kids their own rock band for PS2, but while reading the features on gamestop's website I noticed a couple troubling things.

A)I was told PS2 version would NOT have online/DLC capabilities, yet there it is.

B) the first couple lines leads me to believe I can do a solo world tour w/bass, yet this is impossible w/360 version.

clarification plz from someone in "the loop"
thx

I don't claim to be in the loop, however, if it's not extremely prohibitive I would suggest perhaps going a little extra and getting an xbox360 with the game. Even -if- all the features are the same, graphically it's going to pale in comparison, the quality of the hardware is significantly worse, PS2 is without a doubt going to need lag calibration if you're on an HD-TV (even when I calibrate lag for myself on other games, it still drives me crazy because you can definitely feel it's off)... those are just a few things.

I know an xbox360 is another ~$350, but you can use it for an already vast (and ever increasing) library of games as well as a media center. Just something to think about if your options are open. Last gen systems typically get poor support, don't hold as much information on the discs, lag, display weird resolutions, etc.

Im not in the loop by any stretch, but you cannot hold Harmonix responsible for any descriptions a website lists. If anyone is to be accussed of false advertising it would be the website listing the wrong description.

If this information is on the retail box you are purchasing, than that would be false advertisement.

That isn't false advertising by Harmonix. Gamestop just got lazy and copy & pasted the description for the 360 and PS3 version for the PS2 version. There is no DLC or online for the ps2.

well, someone better jump on this cause it's on EVERY major distributor's website in the description.
I only brought it up to get clarification and hopefully spearhead any probs w/this platform release before they actually happen, it could be more "problems and bad press" for an amazing game.

also, w/all the PS3 issues i'm wondering if PS2 will have the same guitar issues ect.
all this RIGHT before Xmas, just seems like alot of grey area for a HUGE xmas sales season, but very bad in terms of customer relations. that's ALOT of pissed off kids on Xmas morning if the peripherals have the same issues and the activision probs carry over to the PS2 and the GHIII controllers aren't able to be used.

call me crazy for thinking ahead. ;)

360 guitars are just as bad. Unless you're just talking about compatibility issues.

And i don't think the PS2 version is even worth it. No DLC or online play and i bet the character creation will be dubbed down. At least i dont think a memory card could hold the data for all those tattoos and stuff. I could be wrong but...

Well it was simple logic really. If they no longer support the PS2 hard drive and a memory card is 8 MB then of course there's no DLC because there's no where to put it.
