I was just wanted to get a feel for how much pain people were going thru with this whole replacement.

I got a replacement and am debating whether or not just to take the whole game back to the store because I'm sick of dealing with broken parts.

Are there any of you on 3 and 4th replacements? And some that just have thrown in the towel?

First replacement here. The strat that came in the mail has a good, stiff strummer and none of the getting-stuck problems the old strat had. So, I'm keeping it.

Well, I'm on my original gear. My guitar "broke" twice and I fixed it myself. It could be that many of the strum bar issues are as simple as mine was - gently bending apart the contact plates for the strum mechanism to achieve clean separation at the end of a strum.

My broken whammy bar spring was as trivial as taking apart a ball point pen. :D

Not that I condone breaking the warranty conditions, but for those at the end of their tether with multiple replacements or with contemplating long waits for replacement equipment AND with deep enough pockets to feel comfortable with buying a new (improved) guitar down the road at their own expense, it's an option.

this will probably get moved to tech, but

I am on the third guitar (PS3), and it works quite well. If you like the game then keep trying. I finally got to play w/ 4 people the other night (1st broken guitar was bass with only upstrumming), and it is super fun.

I think EA is starting to get its act together.

I'm still on my original gear, but the guitar double strums and then sometimes doesn't strum at all, as well as the drums not picking up faster strums (i've taped down the outside pads).

I am waiting for all 3 pieces to breakdown (get worse) before I send them back for repair.

I am worried that they'll think something is up if I send all 3 back at the same time tho, but by waiting I am hoping to assure myself a little piece of mind that all the kinks, even with the replacement parts will have been worked out by the time I send mine back and get new ones.

Just sent out for a replacement guitar. My down strum pretty much broke after the 2nd day of using it. I've been using the up strum, but now even that seems to be screwing up. I also noticed that the drums are starting to break down now. Softer hits don't seem like they are registering like they used to, and the green pad makes an odd vibration sound, like it's loose. I think I'm going to test it out some more before I send for a drum replacement as well.

I'm on my second pedal which feels like its about to break. I'm not impressed with the guitar as far as the strum bar. Just seems like when I alt strum it doesn't pick up very well and seems very loose. I can alt strum pretty well and fast on GH. My drums seem fine, except damn EA, you know ppl are using their foot to beat down on a PLASTIC pedal. At least make the the pedal itself reinforced with metal or something.

I'm on my first replacement guitar & drums. Drums are perfect. I didn't like my new guitar strum bar because it felt exactly the same as the old one (very loose), and I was hoping it'd break. So far it hasn't and I have a feeling it'll be pretty solid until the warranty expires.

I will be on my thrid guitar when I get it, hopefully soon. My original drums were DOA, but the replacements seem good. The second guitar I got was worse the my first one!!

Using original equipment, so far (crossing fingers) and while I don't think I play as much as some of you :-) I have had the equipment since day one.

Drum #1 - Pedal Broke (my fault... non experienced drummer)
Drum #2 - Yellow Pad Broke (NOT my fault, it had a weak crack to start that eventually split in half)
Drum #3 - Yellow Pad started hitting like 50% (That's insanley frusterating to play on)
Drum #4 (Current) - Out of the box, red pad hits about 5% of the time. I taped it down using Shoom's Duct Tape Strategy, and now it's better, but when I hit yellow, it hit's red sometimes. (I've tried loosing and tightening the tape 100000 times I know... I just want a working kit!)
Drum #5 - On The Way!

Guitar #1 - Wouldn't Strum down AT ALL
Guitar #2 - On The Way!!

I haven't even received my first replacement. I sent it back last Monday, and I haven't heard or seen anything about it. I'm kinda worried actually, it seems like it's taking an extremely long time.

Guitar #2 from EA: WORKS LIKE A CHARM.

Drums #1 from the box: Red drum not responding to rolls.
Drums #2 from EA: WORKS LIKE A CHARM.

I'm on my 3rd guitar. First had down strum issue and 2nd didn't register repetitive fast strums. Haven't had a chance to see how the new one is.

Drums seem to be working fine, not pedal issues or anything yet.

Well, my drums finally started acting up. Yellow is hitting intermitently and red too. Green has the odd glitch and blue seems fine. Just put in the order today. I've had a friend using the guitar to see if it has any issues (all my equip is 1st gen release) and it's strum is starting to go so I guess a guitar is in the future as well.

Still, I'm happy - it's been a great experience for a great game. I can stand a few growing pains knowing how much damn fun this game is to play :)

I'm on replacement zero, I just fixed it myself. It was easy and has been a permanent fix. Much better than just getting a replacement that breaks later.

I'm on my third guitar and it's still not perfect. None of my guitars had functional overdrive sensors and my latest one's up strum is almost non existent. I'll return it once EA receives my other two so I can get my money back.

On Bass Pedal number 2, the original was DOA out of the box.
Original drum kit still works.

On first Fender Guitar, strum acts weird and tilt sensor wasn't working. Called for a replacement box, but I heard all of the horror stories about how bad the replacements are. I got a replacement "breakaway" cable from a local Gamestop and BOOM! Guitar #1's problems are 100 fixed.
No need to send in.

Granted, I didn't get mine on launch day or anything like a lot of people, but so far I've had no problems whatsoever with mine. It's been a relief, I remember reading all the people having guitars and drums break and getting really paranoid about it.

...Of course, now that I've said that, my Strat is probably going to stop downstrumming next time I go to play. -knocks on wood-

technically on my second replacement. put in the order after sending back the first (it was worse than the original). Still waiting on it to ship and them to update that they got the first. Though in all fairness, I still have a few more days (in my estimation) for things to process, etc. So hopefully by the end of the week, things will be sorted out.

I'm on my second guitar and just got my RMA to send it back. Eventually I'll be on my third and with luck that will be it.

The original guitar had downstrum issues and the replacement has the exact same affliction...only slightly more drastic. The original would only miss one out of every six notes or so, but this one misses three or four in a row in the machine gun sections. When I play with the GH2 guitar it's perfect on the same song at the same difficulty.

So is the problem caused by trying to keep it as quiet as possible? If so, I think I'd rather have the annoying clicks than have defective hardware. But hey, that's just me.

I got my third guitar last night.

My 1st guitars down strum stopped working after about two hours of play.
2nd guitar had an issue with the tilt, and a less pronounced down strum issue.
I played an hour or so on the 3rd one last night, and thought I was noticing some degradation of the down strum. I decided to sleep on it and hope it was me sucking and not having to go through this crap again.

I am getting pretty frustrated with this whole process. I think if this 3rd one is broken I will try the replacement process one last time before I quit and take the whole thing back to the store. I LOVE the game in general, but this is a huge mess IMO. I understand EA wanting to ship before Christmas and all, but this is just a huge slap in the face of their customers.

Im still on my Original gear, In fact ive taken my strat completely apart thought I broke it when I couldnt figure out how to get the metal rods at the top of the neck back in, but I did. ya mine had a broken downstrum but when I opened it I saw the contact was bent, put some tape behind it and pushed it back forward and bam working guitar, Im not worried about my warrenty Im waiting for them to get a 100% working guitar and have it made so 98% of them are free of problems then im going to buy 1.

My original guitar wouldn't even sync with my 360, so I filed for a replacement on Nov 21. I finally got the replacement last Monday (Dec 3) and, after playing for a week, the spring in teh whammy bar snapped last night. I'm debating whether I should send it back or try to fix it myself.
