Hi :o
I'm new here, so go easy on me lol. Anyway, I'm faced with a big challenge here this holiday season. First off I was getting Guitar Hero 3 for the Wii [i own that and a ps2, and NO, i will not buy another console]...but then I saw Rock Band. And behold, there was glory. I knew I HAD to get it. Me and my friends would jam, and I also have 3 sisters that play video games so we could play like anytime I felt like it.

So I tried to find it for the Wii, but surprise..it was left out. Supposedly it's coming out 2008, so I dunno about that, or if I should even wait that long. One alternative would be to buy GH3 now, and then over the summer next year get Rock Band, so that way I'd have 2 guitars. But I dunno..is waiting for the Wii version really worth it, rather than buying it for ps2? I have no idea how the online is, and I don't know how many songs there are, so I dunno if I wanna DLC. Then again, my dad would probably never let me seeing has how it's a $150+ game, so forget DLC.

The other resort is to buy the ps2 version this holiday, when it supposedly comes out next week. What to do..what to do

I suggest you buy the PS2 version because the possibly won't come out with a wii version till early 2009.

But WHY. What's the point of leaving out the Wii version? It's just stupid >_>"
I mean, GH3 on the Wii sold freaking more than the Ps3 version..it pisses me off how they think we're all casual gamers or something.

Anyway, I also had a question. What if there's something wrong with the Ps2 version and they have to distribute a patch? I don't think that'd go too well..

Oh, and is there anything WRONG with buying the ps2 version? Is it like, "inferior"?

1) theres even a chance that there wont be a Wii version.
2) No DLC means ps2 version is no problem, no online play u say... than go out and socialize and make friends and play with them, instead of with ure so called 'friend' in Jamaica.

So...
ps2 is $10 cheaper so it better for ure father....
BUT
i highly sugest u get a 360 and buy it for that with ure christmas money (or whatever other holiday u celebrate).

1) awh, that really sucks..makes me rethink everything. i mean, i really don't feel like buying gh3 after seeing Rock Band [never played it, but it looks SO cool. how many songs are there btw?]

2) i have friends, lol. i was just wondering..is online play really THAT good? like will it make much of a difference, or does playing with people irl totally blow online play out of the water. I mean, if I wait for a wii version chances are there won't even be voice chat.

and i already tried that, lol. my dad won't lemme get a 360 >:[
he said i already chose the wii, and that's too bad for me..my fault :\

You mean they'd have to make the wii instruments wireless? I guess that's a valid argument :0

Well, he just said that he's not gonna buy a whole new console, so I think buying a 360 is kinda out of the question for him.

Yeah, it sucks for my friends who bought a Wii because we're not sure if there's ever going to be a Wii version. The PS2 version would be kinda cool, but there isn't gonna be any online play, downloadable songs, or leaderboards.

So, take a look at the track list, listen to the song on YouTube, and see if you like the music in the game. If you don't, then I'd advise against the PS2 version.

1)58 songs i believe
2)well its cool, and if u cant have friends over EVERY day, then yes it can work wonders and add ure songlist.

Then i will suggest this, pay for ure Xbox with ure holiday money, or split the price (makes i guranteed ure getting it :D)

Ah, I see. I looked over the track list, and it's all right. Not that many killer songs, and I'll put a vote that GH3's is better. Why is there FoB there? :'[

2) well, i have my sisters which uhm, live there..lol....so if i get it i'll be jamming everyday w/o a doubt.

and paying for it w/ holiday money would probably work, if i didn't have to pay another $170 for the game itself. that just kills it right there xD
dunno what you man by split the price though

What about selling your Wii? Its near christmas and if you sold it, it could damn near pay for a 360.

Personally, I wouldn't buy it for the PS2 as there will be no way for you to receive DLC or patches.

At least if they release if for the Wii you can count on it working RIGHT unlike on other platforms. Nintendo is very picky about what they will allow for release on their consoles. I've yet to find a game that was full of glitches.

Just get it on PS2. The Wii verision,if there is one, will likely be a PS2 port. Both verisions will be equally inferior to the 360/PS3 verisions with not as good graphics, sound and no DLC.

I suppose there's a small chance some of the first DLC will be on the disc with the Wii verision but other than that might as well get it on PS2 now.

What about Online Play? Does that play a big role in this game? How does OP even work? o.O

I'm Canadian (we didn't get the game yet) and normally don't play online anyway so I wouldn't know. Though the Band World Tour seems to be the main mode and that's not playable online.

You're mistaken about the Wii. It WILL allow for both on-line play and for DLC.

I'd NEVER even consider selling my Wii. It's a completely new platform that even Sony recognized with their SIXAXIS controller being able to manipulate movement rather than the use of archaic buttons.

I never said the Wii won't have online play..nor do I doubt it having DLC, I just said I don't NEED DLC.
Anyway, can anyone explain how online works in Rock Band?

But WHY. What's the point of leaving out the Wii version?
Porting from XBox360 to PS3 (or vice versa) is easier than porting from either one of those to the Wii. Under the hood, the Wii technology is closer to the previous generation than to this one.

That ain't a bad thing, in and of itself -- they concentrated on innovation instead of more pixels. If I could find a Wii anywhere, I'd have one. But it means it's not going to be a non-brainer to port cross-platform titles to it.

Oh, and is there anything WRONG with buying the ps2 version? Is it like, "inferior"?
No network use of any kind at all. No DLC, no online play, no online leaderboards, nothing. For some people that's a show-stopper, for others it's a non-factor.

It'll be interesting to know if the PS2 guitar controllers work with it...
