I was just curious but which do you think has the best music? Beetles or Nirvana.

Beetles101

I would say the beetles.

RockerJoe123

This should be in the General section.

Also, your name is a bit of a give away as to which one you prefer.

And I would say the Beatles.

I can't choose since they are two completely different styles of music, and the only thing they have in common was the fact that they were HUGE influences. And Dave Grohl played with members of BOTH bands. :D

Yeah, just noticed I got it wrong. :P

I meant History of Rock.

There are way too many of these pointless battles... If they fit anywhere, they fit here, though they really aren't very compelling.

Nope, the Rock Band sub-forum is where you discuss Rock Band. What the hell isn't this thread in history of rock?

It got moved from the Rock Band sub-forum. You can see the thread there with the arrow that signifies that it moved.

It's a trick question. There isn't a band called The Beetles. The correct answer is Nirvana because that's the only real band he said.

Kurt Cobain is John Lennon (or also MDC, depending on what you believe)
Dave Ghrol is Paul McCartney
Courtney Love is Yoko Ono (and MDC, depending on what you believe)
Layne is Dimebag
Chad Channing is Pete Best
Krist Novoselic is Ringo

Any others?

If by style of music: Nirvana could win personal opinion due to the harder edge of the music and the lyrics of Cobain. This is a completely subjective idea open to debate. If by importance: Beatles, no debate. By popularity: Beatles, no debate.

Now ask what if the Question of Michael Jackson, Elvis, or The Beatles. NOW that is a discussion worth throwing around since all three would major pop acts that sold around the same level.

A sh**ty cover band of the Beatles, who are probably not nearly as good as Nirvana.

Well I think even Kurt Cobain himself would say the Beatles given that he was a huge Beatles fan.

NIRVANA is one of my favorite bands, but the Beatles are one of my favorites too. I don't think I can choose. It's like asking about toast and waffles, you know?

Beatles would win; not so much for how good the music is but more because they are considered unquestionable by most people.

Well, apart from the two of them being almost completely impossible to compare, you can't even spell Beatles right. Great job. Really.

The Beatles probably had "better" music in some weird definition, and obviously had more influence, and while I absolutely adore The Beatles, I actually enjoy Nirvana more.

Who are Beetles? I have no idea who they are so I vote Nirvana. You should've included this band called The Beatles.:p

"An entire generation now regards Nirvana as its version of the Beatles. They are of course hopelessly mistaken, but I would not recommend you tell them so."
— Lewis Grossberger

Nirvana? That's Dave Grohl's band before Foo Fighters, right?

<sarcasm>

Nirvana even steals jokes from the Beatles, as the original joke was "Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings?"

EDIT: Where are the Pearl Jam fans? I figured they would've weighed in by now.

That actually makes a bit of sense, which is a first for one of Robafa's ramblings. Especially the Courtney/Yoko and Dave/Paul comparisons.

Rockbandfan23467

Layne and Dimebag are only on there becaue they both share a date of death (not the same year, however) with Cobain/Lennon, for those of you who don't get it.

What does Pearl Jam have to do with this?

There's a certain type of Pearl Jam fan that immediately denounces any attempt to glorify Nirvana because Ten was released before Nevermind, and they believe the credit given Nirvana for exploding the grunge movement should be given to Pearl Jam instead.

(I think they're nuts, personally, but they exist)

Man, that hurt.

I second this. Why does something have to be glamorous to sway one's preference? According to that logic, David Bowie = best musician EVARRR.

Fergie's up there too, because she has a song callde "Glamorous" lolololol.
