The cover of Lonely is the Night in GHERT80s. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zuU7LPt7C0)
Honestly, forget bad artists covering a good song. This is a professional studio who have done some good covers making fools out of themselves. Really, for a project like this, you think they'd post an ad for someone who sounds close to the guy.
Plus, they also ruined the most important part for the game: the guitar. The tone is just horrible.

The first one to come to mind was Adam Lambert's "Ring of Fire", but Hillary Duff's cover of "My Generation" is probably worse.

"I hope I don't die before I get old"? At this level of missing the point, why ever bother doing the cover?

I have no idea who those people are, I haven't watched the show since Melinda Doolittle was kicked off two seasons ago, she's the only singer on the show I've really ever been impressed by. I'm just aware of the "Ring of Fire" cover from being directed to a youtube video.

Oh, I see. Anyway, when I first heard the Ring of Fire cover, I was like "... what the fu-", and then I rewound and watched again, and realised that, while being different (CULTURE SHOCK different), it's pretty cool, if you don't think "there is only one way to play this song"/listen with an open mind.

I still don't get what it is that people hate about this cover, aside from classic rock hipsters with hard-ons for AC/DC being predisposed against Celine Dion. I fully understand disliking Celine Dion, but this is a pretty serviceable and faithful rendition.

Like the comments said, fine until the chorus, then...yeah. It's not as though her voice can't get any higher either. Instruments are fine though, so it's not a truly wretched cover.

My vote is for Avril Lavinge's Chop Suey! At least on the RR cover I made it to the second verse. Avril's version I could only take 10 seconds before reaching for the close button like I was trying to abort a nuclear missile launch.

Limp Bizkit's version of Wish You Were Here is worse, since they were trying to plug for 911 they even added extra lyrics to make it more emo.

1. It sounds too good for a bubblegum band.

2. Since when do elementary schoolers know about Aces High or let alone, Power Metal. (Referring to the audience, OK? I had no clue what heavy metal was until the 4th (or 3rd, don't remember) grade, and a child-pop band covering a song I wouldn't know was made by Iron Maiden until a couple of years, and I expect the same from everyone else at my age at that time.)

3. It sounds too much like Dickinson.

I hear them compared to Joy Division a lot, but aside from maybe the vocals, I don't hear it. The guitar isn't de-emphasized, none of their songs are particularly bass-driven, and it's not dark and icy like Joy Division

1. This was DOtU-era, so Chris couldn't sing live if his life depended on it.

Ugh, I'm so sick of musical ignorance.

For the purposes of my argument, I'll just keep what you said in play. You seem to forget that some people like Masochism. Sure, its in the minority of people, and thats the point. Lets take something you like while we're at it, for example.. uhh.. *looks at username*.. King Crimson? Now there's a fickle band that I'm sure very few people like in comparison to the rest of the entire population of the world.

So one could say that saying you like King Crimson is like saying you like Beastiality, the negativity attached to it is what makes you so ignorant though.
I really don't get why people can't get over themselves and let opinions just be opinions, and respect artists for what they create even if it doesn't appeal to your own tastes...

Ok, well maybe I should change it to "musical opinion intolerance" or something. I just though his post was a bit extremist maybe, as opposed to just saying "I don't much care for Disturbed", or not posting at all.

In retrospect though, this is the internet, so these things are kinda expected anyways...

You're starting to sound like one of my friends who got on my account a while back...

Close call alert: I ran into a brokeNCYDE video with the title of "Brokencyde - 'Enjoy the Silence'" or something like that when I was browsing the internet today. I clicked the video, knowing it would be worse than Lacuna Coil's cover of it, which I thought was plain terrible. Turns out it wasn't a cover of Depeche Mode, but it was in fact a terrible attempt at a comedy sketch. Still bad, but at least not a butchering of a classic.
