Hey Guys... Congrats again on your recent wins at VGA here in my home town, Las Vegas.
So, any chances we can get some FREE XMAS music for Rock Band for the Holidays?
I recommend a track or 2, but you should for sure do the song for us...
below are some recommendations..
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12-24)
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - A Mad Russian's Christmas

i'd love tso as well ( Siberian sleigh ride, carol of the bells, wizards in winter ) but all the popular ones don't have vocals.

While I do love this game, the VGAs are by far the least prestigious award in gaming. They are biased, commercialized, and not voted on by anybody that matters. Sadly, they don't televise the important awards given out by the industry, which I'm sure would give a few to Rock Band.

Yes, let's get some transsiberian orchestra, so vocalists have nothing to do. Doesn't anyone like vocals? Everyone wants non-vocal songs all the time.

You must not know TSO very well... They have tons of songs with vocals, as a matter of fact most of their songs have vocals.

Man, "Wizards in Winter" would kick so much ass. It would be tremendous fun to play. The vocal part can just hit the mic to make the bell noises. See, they too will have a part in this. Come on, Harmonix, make this happen.

How bout 'Happy Christmas' by John Lennon?
C'mon, Yoko loves selling everything. Why not the rights to that song?

THATS WHY THEY ARE TYHE MOST IMPORTANT ONES BECAUSE THEYRE TELEVISED AND PUBLIC.....YOU NEVER HEAR A BIG FUSS ABOUT ANYOTHER AWARDS SO YOU WANT TO WIN ONE OF THESE BECAUSE OF ALL THE MEDIA ATTENTION.

Free or not... I'll just be happy to have some additional DLC available on Christmas. I've already planned out all the current tracks we're going to download when we bust open the game, and am eager for more. Since XBL updates happen on Tuesdays, there's always hope.

TSO has some songs with incredible vocals.... there should be a couple with and without. id love to be able to play/sing the song "Old City Bar" thats one of my favorites by them.

There won't be any free DLC unless the party who owns the rights to the music doesn't want any royalties. That will rarely happen.

I'd pay for TSO in Rock Band....it doesn't need to be free. That would be really fun to play!

It can happen for promotional purposes -- the company/band in question can think of it as advertising rather than as a revenue source on its own. That's how they got the Steve Vai version of the Halo theme into GH3 for Thanksgiving.
Would some DLC of TSO holiday songs get me to actually go out and buy a TSO holiday album, for those times when I'm not in front of the game console? Maybe!
I certainly tend to buy songs that I play in these games, so I can load them onto my iPod and study them while commuting (plus, they do tend to rock). Been doing that all the way back to FreQuency/Amplitude.

I wouldn't mind some Christmas DLC. Maybe "Do They Know It's Christmas" by a bunch of Harmonix bands or something. Oh, or Santa's Beard by They Might Be Giants.

Father Christmas - The Kinks
Santa Claus is coming to town - Springsteen
OK, not so much on the Springsteen, but BRING US THE KINKS!
I could also do with:
Christmas is a Time to Say I Love You - Billy Squier
Please Come Home for Christmas - The Eagles (or Bon Jovi)
The Waitresses - Christmas Wrappings

Well, there's always the public domain option, which includes many, many Christmas songs.
And since you can't copyright arrangements, they can be done in any style without paying the people who stylized them that way.
