Usually, when I listen to an album for the first time (usually on my iPod,) I just sit down in a room with no distractions and listen through, no breaks. After that, I just put it on as background music while I'm on a website or something.

If I can get it on vinyl (which is ideal), I'll sit on the couch and listen to it while looking at the artwork and reading the lyrics and/or liner notes.
In any other format I usually lay in bed with headphones on.

I tried doing it with TF2 before. I like it except for the fact that it disrupts voice chat majorly.

I listen to the record, simple as that.

Two things: air guitar/bass/drums (it's more an involuntary action than anything else) and pay close attention to the songcraft.

Usually I do whatever else I would do - go on the internet, play a video game, whatever.

I only truly listen to and pick apart albums I'm really excited for, like I did with Black Clouds & Silver Linings by Dream Theater (and all their other releases that weren't When Dream & Day Unite).

I'm either driving, being driven, or on the toilet. That's when I can concentrate most on an album

i unfortunately can't engage in any fancy ritual while jamming an album for the first time since i typically listen to at least one every day, but if it's something i've really been anticipating then it's not rare for me to smoke something first.

I depends
Here's what i did with my most recent albums -
Songs For The Deaf (QOTSA) - I think I was reading wikipedia's Queen's of the Stone Age article
In Utero (Nirvana) - I went for a walk
Number of the Beast (Iron Maiden) - Watched Sunday night baseball with the sound off
Vulgar Display of Power (Pantera) - worked out, ate some Doritos
Yeah, I don't have any kind of routine

Cleaning my house is a pretty regular activity. It's not mentally distracting, and the music keeps you from getting bored with the cleaning so you actually finish.

Its Blitz=Street Fighter 4 online.

Maybe BlazBlue. Haven't tried it out. Probably wont work. Ive had to adapt to a completly different fighting style for BlazBlue so I'm not sure.

Most of my music listening is in the car, while working in the yard, and while working out. Also practicing on guitar. So out of those 4 things, music takes up about 90% of my day.

It really depends on what kind of album and whether or not it's my first time hearing it. I actually feel kind of bad because, between moving out and going to college and stuff, I really haven't been able to get any of the new albums that I've bought the attention that they deserve on their first listens.

Typically, with a new CD, I'll immediately pop it into my computer and rip it to iTunes and then listen to it the whole way through. I like to try to focus solely on the music, but with Firefox just a double-click away, I inevitably end up getting distracted and not even realizing it until the album is nearly over. After that I'll get it onto my iPod and it becomes lost in shuffle-world, unless it's one of those immensely earth-shattering albums that I feel compelled to always come back to.

If it's a harder/heavier album (ie. Mezmerize), I'll often find myself playing the lap drums (slapping my legs; not an actual lap drum) as I listen, whereas if it's something a little more mellow (ie. The Moon and Antarctica) I'm either stoned out of my mind (which seems to be a recurring theme in this thread) or going about my day (cleaning, driving, writing, etc).

Holy hell, I used a lot of brackets.
