When the next gen consoles were released, did you wait in line for any of them?
I waited in line around 10 hours with my buddy for his Wii, I already had mine on hold, which we picked up right afterwards. Also if you have a funny story to share that happened while you were waiting in line, please do so. I know I met some pretty cool people, and had some great conversations while waiting and when we drove by Wal Mart, people were waiting in lawn chairs around midnight the night before the release of the Wii.
It goes to show, some of the nicest people you'll ever meet are gamers.

The last console I got on launch day was the Nintendo 64.

Hell no. Most consoles aren't worth the 300 bucks no matter when you purchase them. I'm near-retired from gaming as a whole, so this may sound like a douchebag opinion. But trust me, I know what I'm talking about. 300 dollars for an XBOX is like paying 25 bucks for a car wash.

Where could you even pay $25 for a car wash?

It's something you could do at home for free. Same with entertainment.

Nope, bought a Wii a couple months after it came out, I think.

The day after Christmas the year the Wii came out I strolled into an EB games around 12:30pm, my sister's boyfriend was working. He mentioned the UPS guy usually comes in around that time. About 3 mins after I arrived the UPS guy came in with one box...he handed it to my sister's boyfriend who handed it to me and I paid and went on my merry way with an impossible to get Wii on one of the most impossible days to find anything.

Washing your car at home kills the environment like whoa.
And about the Wii, I got one 12-21-06...
Sold it 7 months later. :D

Well, I play more games than just Rock Band, so I find it incredibly hard to shoot the sh*t out of zombies and run over prostitutes without a $300 console.
Hell I paid $600 for my ps3 back in February '07.
Before someone freaks out and starts calling me names for spending that much money on a game machine, it was a fiscally responsible move.
My ps2 had just kicked the bucket, a new one would've cost me $149 and the 360's were still $400 back then. i only paid $50 extra to achieve the same thing my expensive ass ps3 could do.
It was $50 well spent.
But I bought an Xbox last April, so now I get to play everything.

I'll probably camp for whatever MS's next gen is, if it ever comes out.
This year, I'll be camping outside of some random store for Black Friday. Going to look into buying a PS3 depending on the deals.

I made my mom wait in line for my wii because she was getting it for my birthday. I ending up selling it a year latter, she wasn't that happy.

I stood inline for a wii, fruitlessly back in December '06. I ended up getting one for Christmas.

We've found that launch consoles usually have technical problems some way or another, so we almost always wait a year or so before taking the dive on a new console to hopefully get a console that doesn't have any hardware problems.
The only exception to this rule lately is the 60 gig PS3 we scoured for just to get the complete backwards compatibility

The 60gb is king in my collection.... mostly because I can play all my ps2 classics.

I camped out for the 360 when it first came out with my husband (at the time), but ours was particularly painful as we got there at 10pm and the bestbuy opened at 7am - they said they only had 20 consoles and we were like 13th in line, so we were pretty sure we would get one. We spent 8 hours in sleeping bags with all sorts of layers of clothes on as it was 10 degrees with a -15 windchill out... 8 hours in that! Best buy brought us some coffee and donuts at 6am and gave us our "tickets to purchase" so we could warm up in our car for the next hour. I was cold for a day or so, but did not get frostbitten at all.

Stayed out 11 hours to get a Wii, wasn't worth it in retrospect.
