Ah, god...

Jorma Taccone will direct MacGruber, based on the "Saturday Night Live" sketch parody of the TV show "MacGyver," reports Production Weekly. Filming begins next month in New Mexico.

The sketch stars Will Forte and Kristen Wiig (who replaced Maya Rudolph). Richard Dean Anderson (who played the title role in the "MacGyver" series) has also appeared on "MacGruber." The shorts are written by Forte, John Solomon, and Taccone.

Taccone is responsible for creating the character and directed most of the spots with the exception of the Jonah Hill and Shia LaBeouf episodes, which were both directed by John Solomon.

The sketch revolves around MacGruber always becoming consumed with some sort of personal issue, to the detriment of himself and his assistants.

If they get Richard Dean Anderson on board, it might (and I stress, might) be good.

But I doubt it.

You're kidding, right?

I watched it on SNL, there are a couple of bits that are worthwhile. But a movie? I can see this falling flat on its face.

Wayne's World
A Night At The Roxbury
Superstar
The Ladies Man

What else?

The funniest part about the sketch is how it's short, and ends with them all getting blown up. That's the punch line. How does this translate to a movie and end up funny?

EDIT: the theme song is also usually funny, but for a movie, you only have it once.
