I got Rock band delivered in the UK last Saturday and i got a few questions. I've bin playing guitar hero on expert for years now so i assumed picking up RB guitar would be pretty simple, however :-
1. For the fast solos in rock band is it better to play on the lower frets, i dont seem to be able to nail hammer-ons in RB like i could in GH, is the timing different or the method of doing them different?
2. Im terrified of strumming as fast as i do in GH cause of breaking my fender strum bar, it feels stiff and cause of these forums i keep thinking if i strum to hard or fast (like i would in GH) im gonna break it and have no guitar until they release and update. Is it likley to break and did those whose guitars broke see any signs of this before it broke, or is it supposed to feel like that and i should just strum harder and faster to hit the notes?
Thanks guys:D

1. Which GH game were you playing? The hammer-ons in RB are pretty much exactly the same as in GH2, but if you played GH3 a lot before RB that could be what the problem is. The timing window in GH3 is VERY loose, so you don't really have to have any timing in your fretting hand to hit the hammer-ons. It can make transitioning to a game with a tighter window, like RB or GH2, pretty difficult at first.
And personally I never use the solo buttons except for in the Big Rock Endings, but I'm sure there's people who do otherwise. It's just a matter of preference, I think.
2. I dunno what the guitars that break feel like, because mine hasn't broken. :p But the strum does take some getting used to. I've found that mine responds very well to just barely flicking it--it feels less like a switch you're pressing down on (like on a GH guitar) and more like a real guitar string. I still haven't gotten the hang of doing fast strumming on the Strat yet, though.

I've played all the GH games but obviously alot of GH3 the past few months - i did try GH2 a few days ago and noticed that the timing window was alot tighter than i remember, i knew it was something like that, just couldnt quite put my finger on what it was.
Looks like im gonna have to adjust back to my GH2 days for RB and lay of GH3 for a while, couldnt believe i failed 'run to the hills' yesterday i would never fail that kind of solo on a GH game (i blame my girlfriend on the drums for that though:o)
i suppose strumming fast is just something im gonna have to get used to, but you're definatly right, the strum bar barely needs moving to register, i'll have to keep that in mind tonight when i play.
