If you guys are taking enhancement requests, here's one. I'd like to be able to take the character I made (for say Guitar) and be able to use him on Drums. I spent a lot of time customizing my character (tattoos, hair, etc.) and having to go through that all over again on Drums or Vocals is pretty annoying. So, if you guys are listening, consider this enhancement requested.
Band Name: The Funk Druckers
Working our way up to the top 11.

I concur. When i go online i want to be able to choose any of the characters i've made regardless of the instrument i'm playing.

Yeah I hope they change this. I don't know how it'd effect the overall game though from the way they have it all set up to play out.

Why are you responding to this thread in a completely negatively irrelevant way? Sure, there's a search function, but the poster left that option back when he created the thread.
Pertaining to the thread topic, yes, I am with you. Although I don't believe Harmonix will actually take any of our expressed concerns into account (at least not from this board), the character creation function definitely needs to be redressed. I'm sick of drumming online and having to choose my friend's tackily dressed, metrosexual drummer.

It was not completely negative. Seeing as this is the poster's first post on this forums I thought that he might be unaware of the existence or uses for the search function. I'm sorry, I was attempting to inform, not to insult. I figure if we all help the new users to the forums not make repetitive posts it might be a bit nicer around here for everybody.

I agree as well. I mainly play with my gf, since we live together, and I'm either on the lead guitar and drum while she's the bass or lead guitar. It just sucks that even in free play, we can't switch characters around. If I can play multiple instruments, why can't the character do? At a party last weekend, I think everyone played each instruments. It just sucked that we couldn't use our rocker when we weren't on our original instrument.

Umm... so create your own drummer? I guess I don't understand the actual problem.

It would be nice, but in reality forcing the play to be creative is nice. My roommate and I each have a drummer, singer, and guitarist. I wanted my drummer to be my singer initially, but once I got into my singing career I took a totally different path.

At least for quickplay, you don't have to worry about the "leader" problem like you do in BWT. You can just have each of your friends make one character per instrument they play. They may even be able to have the same name, I'm not sure. I may make up a bunch of characters for quickplay so people who don't play often will still have a chance to choose someone different looking.

I've seen this more and more in the three weeks since RB was released. Topics degenerate into fragfests and are closed. What worries me is that we don't know what's being done (if anything) about the points that were raised. We still have no clue if anything is being done about:
- Band Leader issue
- Solo BWT (allowing you to choose bandmates also)
- Hyperspeed option
- Solo bass tour
- the execrable fan cap buzzkill issue
- being able to change instruments
- some kind of song manager enable/disable songs
and more. I'd like to use this thread as a way to keep our requests alive, so to speak. Let's keep it civil!

The things I want are....
Solo Band World Tour Mode....fans and all.
The ability to pick your band members too(don't like half the ppl I get stuck with solo)
Voice Chat.
And throw in Bass Career too.
That's all really. Maybe the ability to play multiple instruments with the same character.

I don't own a PS3 but I feel their pain -- give 'em voice chat!
Overall I want:
* The ability to make NPC band members / a logo, for either normal solo play or some solo BWT variant. This is absolutely important if you want people to use your upcoming site's photo system... they don't want to appear in band pics alongside three generics!
* No fan caps, or lower ones; I don't want to kick my friends off the drums because they can't move up. I don't have to do the 'epic' extra content but don't block my ability to get Big in X achivements or reach the "finish" at the HOF without kicking my friends off the drums because they're casual gamers!
The goal is to make the game more fun, more accessible, and more robust. These two would help tremendously.

Thanks, keep'em coming. As a small note: scope is a large factor when determining what we can, and what we want, to patch. That being said, I would love to keep an ongoing tally of what changes the forum community would like to see go into the game itself.

Here are some character creation things people want.
-Not having to rebuy hats when changing character's hair colour.
-Ability to transfer art between characters
-Not having a character locked to an instrument
-Money linked to account, not character

Yay, an HMXer is listening! (Believe me, just knowing it's not being ignored helps.)
...although "scope" is a dangerous term, since it'd be very easy to say "All of those things are too big in scope, ie aren't a quick and easy feature, so we won't be doing it"...
I'll second "Money on account, not character". I like making characters but I don't like "grinding" easy and fast DLC for cash so I can clothe them. And with the pitifully small payouts on the first tiers it's a waste of time to play through the main solo tour again and again...

In fairness, the only problem that I really want changing is having one character for each instrument. It just strikes me as daft that I have to have "Gary" on guitar, "Gary." on vocals and "Gary!" on drums ready made incase I want to switch instruments. This would solve most problems with the "band leader" issue also.
Other than that I don't think there are any other pressing issues (apart from the compatibility on PS3, but that's for another thread.). Disabling songs from random set list generators would be nice, though.

Adding a big one I don't see here yet: a music video viewer/recorder.
(Which would go beautifully with being able to pick your NPC bandmates.. ;) )

- Ability to switch instruments
- Remove fan cap in BWT
- Solo BWT, but I doubt this will happen
- Somehow fix the adapter things for the headsets, but I know that can't happen
- As bland and repetitive as it may get, I would still like a Solo Bass Tour

Here are a few things I would like to see
-Song manager for enabling/disabling songs for random setlist. This could
work if you were only allowed to disable...say...ten different songs, that
way you would have to have some variety, but be able to avoid really
easy songs, or songs you REALLY hate.
-Multiple instrument characters- A character that is allowed to sing and
play another instrument and is represented by one character onscreen.
-Changing instrument in BWT. I want to be able to sing and play songs,
but can only do that on songs I have vocals memorized on. I want to, on
BWT, be able to switch between my cousin and I on vocals. We play
guiar/bass and drums so it would be nice if we could just do one of the
two on songs we aren't familiar with.
-No fan caps. Self explanatory
-Uploading music off of CDs that you have bought if the songs on the CD
are available for download. For example, I own the album Synchronicity,
and I don't want to have to pay $1.40 for a song I already own to buy
the rock band playable song. I would be more than willing to pay, but at
a reduced rate.
-Instrument changing between songs- I don't know if this is already
implemented, as I can't play the game just yet ;-), but I would like to
change guitars and use specific ones for different songs just like I do in
real life.
-Single Player BWT- I don't always want to have somone over to play
BWT. Also, I want to be able to make my own characters that back me
up in the band, because I hate generics.
-Fill practices- It would be nice to go into practice and play fills of
different lengths to figure out how to maximize your score. It would be
much appreciated as a strategy tool.
Sorry for the long rant, but I have lots of ideas. If I get any more, I'll be sure to edit this post :-).

Just FYI: this isn't really possible, since each song has to be specially authored and formatted in-house.

Just FYI: this isn't really possible, since each song has to be specially authored and formatted in-house.
Well, people could use the CD to "unlock" a free or reduced price download of the song data... but the problem is this could be EASILY cheated by burning a copy of the CD. CD detection software like CDDB can't tell the difference between a burn and a real mccoy. So I doubt it's happening.
Others from the thread I want to second:
* Music video / performance viewer... coupled with DIY NPC bandmates this could be YouTube fodder for generations to come.
* Solo Bass Tour... it could be shorter, dropping some of the lamer bass songs, and offering less achievement points -- but I bet if you posted this as a for-pay DLC feature enough people would grab it to justify its existence, if you're looking for reasons to do it.
Here's a new one...
* USB mike support... I have yet to find an alternative USB mike that works with this game, not even the Karaoke Revolution headset. For solo BWTers trying to sing+guitar supporting the headset would be a boon.

My main one is the fan cap thing. My fiancee and I play the BWT together, and he has JUST started playing (never got into GH), so he gets easily frustrated on medium, let alone hard. We shouldn't be restricted to 1/2 the game because he wants to play on easy. Let us do the whole tour on easy if we want. What does it matter? Like someone above said, we don't want to kick members because they aren't 'uber'.
Second, yes please let us disable some songs from the random set lists. It's very irritating to get two 8 year long Metallica songs in a row, lol. For some reason our RNG really really likes Metallica.

I'm not sure if we're including anything hardware related in here, but I think most everyone has been wanting a re-designed strum bar on the Strat. Or a new model (including a new strum bar mechanism) of the Strat somewhere down the road that would maybe be based on a different Fender guitar. Although HMX/EA have said that the one batch of guitars had strum bar issues (especially with downstrums breaking), many of the guitars that are not "broken" still don't seem to always work correctly during very fast passages without breaking streaks.
I've always assumed this was a hardware issue that could be fixed with a newly designed strum bar, but I've been unable to personally test this theory because I have the PS3 version so there's no other compatible guitar to play the game with yet. However, I have heard many cases of people with the 360 version having trouble with fast passages on the Strat that they can coast by with a RedOctane guitar. Nailing an easy song in an attempt for gold stars on Expert guitar, but messing up one row of three quick yellow notes through no apparent fault of your own is never fun.
Everything else with the hardware needs to stay the same though in my opinion, because it's all awesome.

I'll add support to the following issues and add my humble solutions. ;)
Band Leader Issue / Switching Instruments
Best way to solve band leader issues is with instrument switching, imo. That way band leader can continue to be used as save location, leaderboards, etc. And it does make sense that at least one member of the band must always appear when the band plays.
That said, it would be nice if an actual player didn't have to play the band leader's character. That way 2 or 3 band members could play other characters and just have the band leader appear on screen. (This also implies that you no longer get random characters for the computer controlled characters, which would be very nice.)
Picking Characters / Managing Sign-ins
One nice touch on 360 is when the game prompts you to sign in on a controller, you don't have to sign out on the previous used controller first. This little thing is actually huge.
I'd like to see it beefed up even more. When you are picking a character, it'd be nice to see a list of all the characters for ALL signed in profiles. This would make it very easy for players to switch instruments and their characters/profiles. It would also solve a problem with Band Quickplay where non-signed in players can only access characters of the profile that was used to pick Band Quickplay (if that makes sense!) A system like this is almost mandatory for instrument switching anyway.
Fan Cap
I think the fan rate should be reduced significantly so you hit the cap much later. It happens too soon to work as an incentive to raise difficulty, imo. Also, a hard cap adds too much discouragement, imo. A tiered system (where higher difficulties earn X times the fans) or a soft cap with diminishing returns would be much preferable. (For RB2, I'd love to see a more complex fan system where geography/continents play a part.)
Solo BWT could be cool.
Deleting songs
Disabling even one or two of the songs you really don't like would be nice. Even if it was just for random playlists.
Smaller nits:
- Dolby Digital surround defaults to off even though it's set in the 360 dashboard. Several times we have been playing for an hour when I realized it was off! We've now turned it on for all profiles... I hope!
- When picking a character it often defaults to "Create New...". Would be much nicer if it defaulted to first character in list.

I agree with Alphadown99 on many of his requests, here's my slightly edited version
-Song manager for enabling/disabling songs for random setlist, particularly for DLC songs. I admit, I've been a bit hasty in downloading stuff. And I really don't want to see some of those come up when I'm not expecting them. In part because they can be difficult, but also because some of them suck (I'm looking at you, Sweet Leaf)
-Multiple instrument characters- A character that is allowed to sing and play another instrument and is represented by one character onscreen. This sounds like a big change, since it would require new artwork. I'd love to see it but won't hold my breath.
-Changing instrument in BWT / Freeing up Band Leaders - I'd like to see the guy I created for guitar also able to switch off and play drums or sing. This would make the whole Band Leader thing a non-issue, since it makes sense that MY band should have me in it . . . just not always playing guitar.
-Transfer art between characters - When I create an awesome tatt or shirt design, I'd like to be able to share it. Or - OOH - be able to upload it (I know, that's asking a lot, but everyone should experience the majesty of Domo-Kun)
-Customizable backing band during solo tour (whether making your own band or just being able to choose from the available pre-made characters)
-Check into the voice recognition for spoken parts of songs. I can never get an awesome on these and have no idea why. They usually come up as Messy or just OK. If the game will give me an awesome on my SINGING, I should be able to get one for just talking.
-I don't care about Fan Caps. Don't care, no matter how much people whine. I admit, it seems like you reach the fan cap awfully quickly even on Hard difficulty, but it's not a big deal. It just makes me want to master Expert difficulty.

Fan Cap: The fan cap is a good challenge/reward structure for opening up later parts of the game, but the problem is with the pacing. As others have noted, you hit the Medium Fan Cap too quickly. My six-year-old son, my wife, and I love to play Band World Tour, but we are just not ready to tackle random setlists or hard songs at the Medium level yet. My son is getting better and better, but we need a little more variety while he is working his way up.
Song manager: I would like the option to play BWT with or without a Song manager. If you play with a song manager, you don't get published on the leaderboards, and your band is clearly denoted as having used one. Song managers are for casual/fun play, not for competitive play. But our family band would like to be able to filter some songs for content because of our six-year-old, and also pull some songs that my wife just doesn't enjoy playing.
And it really goes without saying, of course, but we would love some online BWT.
Edit: I will borrow from Wizzer's post, and second his suggestion for an extremely simple free-form drum play mode.

Most of these are going to just get repetitive, with people asking for the same things over and over, but I guess that'll help determine what is most wanted....
Also, let me start by saying I LOVE this game. The things below could help make it more playable and enjoyable, however.
Song Manager: Would be a big plus. My wife and I are trying to play a new BWT on Hard, and even in the first couple cities, random sets are frequently giving us top-tier songs. Sure, having to play songs you don't like can suck, but it's not too big of a deal most of the time. However, you shouldn't be getting "Run To the Hills" in your first venue. Granted, I prefer the variety over having to play the same 6 songs repeatedly in the first couple cities, but at minimum, there should be some kind of difficulty cap to keep you from getting burned in the earlier part of your career.
Fan Cap: Not much new to say here. Seems like you gain too many fans too fast, thus reaching your caps too quickly. I'm ok with having some venues locked away for the harder difficulty levels, but it should be kept in mind that some people will NEVER reach Expert, or even Hard, if they are more casual gamers. It also takes away from the fun of BWT a bit, since many of the long sets are restricted to those who can play on Hard/Expert.
Changing Instruments: A must. I understand that there are instument-specific costumes, but I think most people would gladly trade a few silly T-shirts for the ability to easily change instruments. Really hinders the "Party Game" aspect of this experience.
Solo Bass Career: I've seen the official reasons this wasn't included, but to heck with balance and excitement. I want to be able to practice bass parts and get something for it. I am one of the many who would HAPPILY pay a couple bucks to get this, though it should have been included to begin with. Also seems a little insulting to bassists to have omitted this.
Music Video Recorder: Certainly not necessary, but would be totally cool.
Xbox Headset (from instrument) as Mic: I'm really surprised this wasn't seen as being essential. Buying a mic stand is no kind of solution. Tethering yourself to a controller to use a headset is also a poor solution, as those controllers are really too big for a pocket. I assume the wireless headsets would solve this problem, but most people probably don't own these...
Customizable NPCs: Even if only in BWT, it's kind of lame to have a new singer at every other gig. You should be able to set your band, even if they're just absent PC's, and have them be consistent.

OK, here's my vote for what I want to see:
-Bands associated with Gamertag instead of Characters. That way, as long as one of your characters (regardless of which one) is in the band, it's still that band. But, I guess if we can have characters switch instruments, that would work, too. I still like the fact that I have 3 different characters for 3 different instruments...
-More options for physical appearance. There are too few types of faces and body types.
MisterSchulz

Local Leaderboards: You guys had them in GH I and II, but have gotten rid of them in favor of online leaderboards. I appreciate the online ones, but I'd still like to be able to compare say the scores of my Drum Solo Tour songs versus those of my brother's Solo Tour; different characters, but under the same gamertag.
One possibility would be to upload all of the scores from each character on a Gamertag separately, and show them all on the online leaderboards. This is what you basically did for the Band Leaderboards, which I think was awesome. You allowed multiple bands from a Gamertag to be shown on the Band Leaderboards. Perhaps you can do the same with Solo: allow multiple characters from one Gamertag to show up on the Solo Leaderboards.

I don't believe this was mentioned except for a post about practice for drum fills but I would love a free form drum practice where we can assign drums to pads and then just go to town.
Like an open ended free form where we can set:
Red = Snare
Yellow = Hi-Hat
Blue = Tom
Green = Crash/Ride
Pedal = Kick Bass
Essentially it would just be a poor mans Electric drum kit, but all the stuff is there, might as well use it!

-The ability to disable songs from BWT (maybe there could be a 5 song limit or something)
-Voice chat
-Online BWT
-Bass solo tour
-Have our character name show up online instead of Lareden (1), Lareden (2), etc.
-Song unlocking in BWT
-Choice of band members
-86 band leader mechanic
-Drop the ledgers when there is nothing more to be played (outro on keyboard for example). Let us relax and enjoy the visuals instead of stressing over whether there is more to be played or not.
-The ability to view leaderboard scores by character in addition to account and band.
Something else I'd really like to see:
It would be cool if extra content came with song packs. It would give more incentive to buy them. I'm not talking about anything crazy. Stuff like a stubble-beard with a Nirvana pack, Grateful Dead logo as art with a Greatful Dead pack, Van Halen's electrical tape guitar with a Van Halen pack, Sting's weird rag outfit with the Police pack, maybe an outfit of David Bowie's with the Bowie pack or--oooh--a dilated eye character option, and so on.
I don't see the point of allowing band members to switch instruments at will. Most musicians in a rock band stick to the same instrument. But I also don't really see the allure to making "myself" as a character either, which is what people who want it are probably doing. Maybe that could be implemented in a more limited fashion? Like allowing it to be changed under "manage game data" or whatever that's called under Options. For the record, I like the current setup.

Great thread.
1) Not being able to choose any extra band members takes away from the band aspect in my opinion. My number 1 pick is for selectable (customizable) band mates. Actually I would like to have "Joe" controlled by the AI if real-world Joe can't make it. I'm fine with the Leader still having to play at all times.
2) Having to create 3 versions of each avatar sucks. Being able to switch instruments is my second choice.
Zach Attack
12-11-2007, 07:22 AM
(1) Switching Instruments.
(2) No band leader. If anyone on the band roster is playing, the band can play with any three substitutions.
(3) Take the molasses out of the strum bar. Keep it quiet, though.
(4) A system that awards more fans based on how many people are playing at a given difficulty level instead of requiring *everyone* play at a certain threshold. For instance, right now Albert and Bob can both play on Expert so they can go get new fans. But if Cindy wants to sing, and can only play on Medium, they get crap. That blows. Adding more people should never be bad. Or, to put it another way, the more people play, the more fun I have. I shouldn't have the choose between world tour advancement and more players participating. That's just bad design.
(5) When someone is missing, the person assigned on the band roster still appears instead of a random person.
(6) Put some rubber on top of the drum pads to keep them quiet in Rock Band 2. Like this: http://kotaku.com/gaming/diy/rock-band-drums-mod-tested-verdict-good-328443.php

Something I'd like to see:
It'd be cool if they had a transition mode for people making the jump from medium to hard and from hard to expert. Like if you're playing in transition mode it would show you all the added notes you'd have to hit if you were in the harder setting but you wouldn't be penalized for not hitting them. Like they could be transparent and you should try and hit them but if you miss them or whatever you won't fail. I think this would be good mainly because (if you take my friends for example), they all play on hard but I'm still playing drums on medium. I can play most of the easier songs on hard but when we start moving up in difficulty all my friends have to sit by and play the song over and over again while I'm trying to figure it out and flailing/failing. Also, I can play every song on medium and get well over 90% so I get bored at times.
Now granted if I had a 360 and copy of Rock Band of my own this wouldn't be an issue as I could practice whenever I wanted and then when it came time to play with my friends I'd be set. However I still think a transition mode would be useful for many people.

am I the only one that was really disappointed with Vocal practice? Can't slow the song down, can't select a specific section....
I'm doing really well on vocals so far, but I think there are a few parts that are wholely unrealistic for me to expect to "get" unless I can slow the song down or just do one specific part over and over (ie. Soul woman "whoaooaoaooaooaa" part of Gimme Shelter anyone??) I hate that I have to do the whole song "Sick, Sick, Sick" Just to get the last few phrases right. I hate it so much that rather than practicing them, I gave up and played something else.
Better Vocal Practice anyone??

I would like the ability to choose backing band members in single player and to do at least some rudimentary customization.
I would LOVE A BASS TOUR for single player. Right now if I want to play bass I have to play and sing and that's really hard on anything beyond the first couple of tiers. And there are soem killer songs for bass in this game.
I would like it if the fan cap/difficulty gimp were removed in band world tour. I don't have people over all the time and it's nice just to be able to burn through as much as we can. I would also like to see a single player BWT, and there a fan/difficulty cap would make a little more sense.
Money linked to an account instead of an individual.
The ability to have one character to play muiltiple instruments.
Better QC in the hardware department. I love the feel and design of the strat. The rounded neck keeps me from cramping, even after hours of play, the flush frets make it easier to navigate more difficult passages and the strum bar has a more "real" feel to it. It feels more like i'm strumming rather than "toggling." That said, please ship stuff that doesn't break before you finish the single player game. Good idea, bad execution.
If I could only have one thing it would have to be Single Player BWT or Solo Bass. I think the latter could be easily implemented by allowing the player to select bass or guitar when picking a song in the play list.
Single player BWT with customizable band members would be cool.
AND FOR RB2
I would like it if you could choose your band's style like "metal" "punk" "goth" etc and then have a broader play list that lets you play more music in your chosen style. Like playing a lot of Metallica, Maiden and such for Metal while if you play punk you get songs from Clash, Sex Pistols and Black Flag early on..
I would also like a larger style variety too. Throw in some Jazz, some Django Rhienhardt, Les Paul, Chet Atkins. Some classic Leadbelly type blues. And, people will laugh, but some Bluegrass. On expert things like "Wildwood Flower" could be as difficult as Iron Maiden. Maybe you could call it "Jam Band" and release it as a stop gap, like guitar hero rocks the 80s was.
Just my 0.48$ (was going to be just 2 but I got carried away.

seeing how a HMX guy is here watching I should post other suggestions for the patch
Money, clothing and songs you beat based on instrument should be based on account not character.
Being able to remake your character like when you make a new one. Such as being able to reedit your hometown, attitude and physique.
Oh yeah if you can play the Bass on solo tour. Add a Gold and Silver Bass Guitar to get too......

Now I'm not sure if support my own suggestion or not, but its just a thought: money should be put to not only accessories like clothing and instruments, but also Required things, like a van or a PR rep. Maybe, in addition to needing a certain amount of fans, or beating a certain setlist, you have to use your earned money to purchase a new van, or rent a jet, to open up new cities. It would make the whole Tour system more realistic, maybe? I'm not sure, i'm not in a band, HMX probably knows better.
Not that the current system is bad or anything. Just a thought.

the only thing i want is something that could put more than 1 person from 1 xbox 360, online. Like a 2v2 duel mode or a battle of the bands or something.

In order
1. Voice Chat - necessary for not guessing if people will drop out online if they don't like the random choice.
2. Online BWT - necessary for unleashing the true power of RB. Also, please keep the fan caps. Perhaps the suggested restructering of fan numbers could be cool, but experts should definetely get goodies 'casual' gamers don't.
Honorable Mention: Bluetooth mic compatability, one avatar for singer/instrumentalist combos, video recorder, and more customization for avatars.
Can't stress enough how awesome the game is and these minor additions would just improve the best game out there.

Things I'd like to see:
Solo BWT
The ability to choose band mates when playing solo.
The ability to turn songs on/off in BWT (of course this would not apply to solo career modes, couldn't have a guitarist turn off GGaHT ust because they couldn't beat it :P)

Id like to see a few things -
1 - Ability to rate songs - For example, It'd be nice to know people's preferences to songs when you join or host a quick play band.
2 - IF a player disconnects from a band the 360 would take over for him (not BWT, but the online quick play)
3 - When you play BWT with less than 4 people you should be able to create the rest of your band members. It really loses the authenticity and feel of the game when your band members keep changing.
4 - We should be able to sing as well as play guitar or bass with one character - I can understand that character not being a drummer but singing and playing guitar is common enough.
5- DEFINTELY the ability to turn off DLC songs from BWT. It's incredibly frustrating when I play BWT with my friend who plays drums, we both play on expert and a song like Blackened appears as the 5th song on a random list. Again, this should only be towards DLC songs.

The only things I'd like to see are UI tweaks and a few bug fixes.
1. After a song in solo tour, you're taken to the stats screen. From there, it would be nice to be able to select "retry" to restart the song without going through multiple loading screens and re-selecting the song out of the setlist.
2. The default hover option for characters selection is "create new" ... in both solo tour and at the multiplayer select screen. This is the most situational and worthless option... as 99% of the time you'll be selecting an existing character. It also leads to a lot of confusion among first time players when you're trying to do multiplayer. They will unwittingly select it and then get railroaded through a bunch of menus they don't want. It would be preferred if the list could be sorted alphabetically with (create new) getting put at the very bottom instead of the top of the list.
3. It's possible to glitch out Timmy and The Lords of the Underworld if the vocalist fails on the last phrase in the song. The big rock ending only revives players when it starts... yet the vocalist failure is not calculated till after after this threshold. The BRE then fails since the vocalist cannot do their part.
4. If possible, a more elegant solution to the "band member fails while the drummer is in his drum fill" problem. Ideally it would make sense if the drummer can continue the current fill for instant revival.
5. The "searching for new content" loading screen seems to be increasing substantially in length as I add songs. It is a reasonable concern that if someone had a hundred extra tracks, this could be a problem.
6. After you fail a song in solo career and select "quit/exit/back to the setlist" a prompt asks something about "are you sure you want exit and lose unsaved progress?." This prompt seems unnecessary since there is no progress to save... since you failed.
7. The new user screen navigation on game startup. For those who have played the game for more than a day... clicking through the extra 2 screens of popup information is annoying. I know how to navigate the menus and calibrate for TV lag... thanks!
8. Leaderboards: I am 87th on Don't Fear the Reaper vocals... but out of how many? The leaderboards do not give an "out of X users" so you have no way to judge your percentage of success. Am I in the top 1% top 10% etc?
9. DLC: It is wierd that DLC is such a highly touted piece of the game, and yet there are no links in the game to direct you to the marketplace... would be nice to see that added to the "Community" tab in the game shell.
10. Chat: If you have a user and a guest account on the same console on Xbox live, the voice chat functionality is disabled.
11. Extra distinction: I see there was an emphasis away from stats, 100% gold stars, etc. However, I enjoyed the challenge of them and would like something like a "platinum star" distinction for a performance... which would require 100% note accuracy in addition to the points requirements of a gold star.
12. Random band mates: When band mates are computer controlled, it seems to pull from a pre-made pool of characters. It would be neat if this pool could include the other avatars you have built on that account.

Here are some character creation things people want.
-Not having to rebuy hats when changing character's hair colour.
-Ability to transfer art between characters
-Not having a character locked to an instrument
-Money linked to account, not character
Bingo! Man do I agree with these simple changes! Also, one that bugs me is the Leader priority when going online. Instead of the Leader picking each song, the choice should be alternated, say left to right. If only 2 are playing online, then the Leader alternates. If a complete band is playing, then on each song the next player in line is the Leader and so on. Bugs me all to crap when a Leader picks 3 songs in a row I HATE but this alternating would solve the problem. While I'm at it, the Leader whose "turn" it is to lead also by default gets the guitar (if they're guitar/bass of course). Too many times I'm at the mercy of the Leader and they always pick guitar. They don't have the concept of at least alternating between guitar and bass. This way, EVERYONE gets a shot picking a song THEY like and playing guitar on a song they like. The Leader option should also carry over into the versus modes also. One opponent picks one song, then the other's turn, to and fro. Then there's voice chat (PS3). Harmonix, it's up to you guys! You can do what this member and I have posted!
The ability to make certain songs active/inactive. For example, no present or future RB setlist will ever make everyone happy. I understand having to play through the songs on solo career even though there are songs one may DESPISE (Fall Out Boy drives me COMPLETELY INSANE everytime I have to play it in solo). How about, as other members have posted, disabling certain songs in BWT? Nothing drives me more nuts than having to play Fall Out Boy on mystery setlists back to back, venue to venue! So if you could somehow implement that option to disable songs, that would make this game PERFECT for me.
Not tying a character to one instrument. Yeah, I'll admit that's pretty maddening, especially when you've created an avatar you're totally happy with, only to have to go through the motions to re-create them but for a different instrument. 'Nuff said...
Everything else is GREAT on the game Harmonix! The fan cap I don't have a problem with. The generic characters I don't have a problem (although admittedly it would be cool to pick your own players when doing solo or BWT). Everything else is cool!
That's all I can think of right now, but more will be coming if I think of it!

I'm a forum staaaaaar! :3
Anyway, here's what I'd love to see changed in a patch very soon, preferably 5 minutes from now at the outside:
1. The Fan Cap - I dread playing RB with new people, not because I really care about that particular rubric, but because I know that the constant 'You gained 0 fans!' just when we're finishing a song is seriously discouraging to a lot of people, just as they're starting to get the hang of things. Besides, does the Fans Leaderboard really mean anything when every single non-Expert band is capped at exactly the same score? There are plenty of complicated solutions which will leave all the sacred achievements intact, but seriously, please just scale things so that Expert players earn fans at a vastly higher rate so their beloved ranking isn't in danger. Everyone I know would be willing to start the BWT over again just to fix this problem.
2. Extra costume/gestures DLC packs - I love the way this game focuses on the players as rockers, not as cliché cut-outs. That said, I do notice gestures and general stage manners repeating when I'm going through the same songs time and again. It'd be awesome if, at some point in the future, we could pay for more and varied options for our rockstar avatars during songs.
3. No Rock Band 2!!
- I mean, seriously. Just release higher-cost peripherals as an option if you need to; release huge chunks of DLC on disc (à la GH: Rock the 80s) to reach a bigger market. I don't see why everyone is just assuming 'hey, this game is great, I can't wait to pay for it again in a year or so!' when this game could simply be a platform for continuing greatness. As long as you keep releasing great DLC as as has been the case so far, we will keep paying for it that way. Adding minute features which could be patched in after awhile anyway and calling that RB2 will just divide the fanbase and reduce the number of people I can play with.
(Reminds me of that Henry Rollins bit about bands getting famous and deciding to add a full orchestra to their hits because "we just feel that a guitar, bass, drums, and killer vocals aren't enough to express the full range of our artistic vision!" :D
The punchline is: yes, they are, and good bands realize that.)

I think there should be more downloadable content. Not just songs, but new instuments (personally I'd like to see some more drum sets as the current selection is... shall we say lacking and as far as I know there are only 3 microphones... come on now, you can be more creative than that), new clothes, new haircuts, new styles (rock, metal, goth, and punk are clearly not enough), new cities to play at, new venues, and so on. The possibilities are essentially endless. Why limit the DLC to just songs?

Many probably already mentioned but here we go...
- Add Thrice to your upcoming band list
- Then ad more Thrice to that list
- Allow Single man bands to do world tour
- Ability to adjust mic levels
- Characters shouldnt be stuck on one inst.
- The delay for the mic KILLS it
- Create a Karoke style option (mic loud, drums, bass, guitar loud) with voice for original singer.
- Make it so we can hear others sing when doing online mode and so they can hear us. (i know its a technical issue, but thats my request :)
- Music, music, music! Keep adding more music and more diverse. Don't want more 80's rock please! Some rage against the machine would be killer for the guitar

Bass for solo tour, please. I'm loving playing bass.
A better sliding-scale for difficulty in BWT would be great. It doesn't seem fair that if everyone's playing on Hard except for one newbie playing on Easy, there's no fan gain and no expansion of songlists. BWT is really the point of playing Rock Band, as far as I'm concerned. I'd prefer it to be more inclusive if possible.
I want the crowd to sing along in my downloaded music. Please. I know it would make the download bigger and maybe make the songs cost more. I don't care; I'd be glad to pay more for that bit of functionality. We all love when the crowd goes nuts, that's part of what makes the game so cool.

I think this game is great, but there are two things I would love to see either added now, or included in Rock Band 2.
1) Rock Band World Tour on Xbox live. I was bummed to find out you can only do this locally.
2) When creating a character, let us use our Xbox Live Vision camera to put our face on our rocker. (Like EA Tiger Woods, Rainbow Six Vegas and others...)
Actually the vision thing should be included in every single game that let's you create a character.
Thanks for your time.

I'm going to mention #1 here because I want my vote counted. The rest are not already listed elsewhere (that I noticed).
1) Remove BWT caps, or adjust them. As others have said. Don't penalize my wife because she sucks (she won't read this, will she?)
2) Practice mode for all band members at one time. I know you probably couldn't slow it down, but it would be nice to practice a song as a band without fear of getting booed off the stage. After all, bands practice together in real life with no audience, don't they?
3) Choose a consistent color for which item is selected in a menu. Sometimes Yellow means selected, sometimes Bold White means selected. Pick one and stick with it. (Sorry, a pet peave of mine, being a UI developer.)
4) Have some more variety in DLC (songs). Not all of the songs have to be selected based on being challenging. Sometimes it would be fun to just play songs I really like, regardless of whether they're challenging or not. And a vote for the entire Dark Side of the Moon album, even if there are long instrumentals without vocals. Come on, you guys LOVE music -- how cool would this be??? I'll send you a check for $100 dollars right now, if you'll give it to me (I'm not kidding, and yes, I know it costs a lot more to procure and master the song than that, but it still doesn't hurt to beg, does it?)
5) Fix the lag issue, or at least comment on it please. An official word from you guys would really help cool us down. Perhaps someone could blog on this?

My biggest thing is actually portability of characters. My friend and I actually went half-zees on Rock Band because we were too broke to afford it by ourselves. We both have PS3s, and foreseeably, one of us will break down and buy out the other. But for now, we have no way of playing with our character from eachother's PS3s. The Rock Band save game is all one big chunk in the system, so we can't carry our person around with us like when he comes over to my house, or even if I want to play with the character in my profile within my wife's profile on our PS3. What I'm getting at is I want an export feature, so that when I go to someone's house to play some BWT, I can pop in my character that I have already built up and designed and be ready to go. Right now, I have to create him again every single time and, when it's not on my PS3 or even ON my own PS3 but in another profile, I have to create him and deal with crappy clothes, all the time to remake my tattoos. . . It's just a pain, and it seems like it would be an easy thing to add to the Data Management screen so people can take their characters with them on a flash drive or something.

many people have said it already, but ill say it again. remove the fan cap for world tour. the group i play with is never going to beat expert. we like to drink beer and play! were probably never going to beat it on hard (although we are trying). its a drag that were going to be missing out on content because we'll never be able to put in the time necessary to master the higher difficulty settings.

.) Open strings on the bass line, represented like the bass pedal. You don't press any fret button, just strum. As a bassist I know that bass players use open strings a lot, and it would give the oh-so-desired bass career a little something extra.
.) Multi-instrument character.
.) Solo and online BWT.
.) Timing score (idea developed here: http://community.rockband.com/vbforum/showthread.php?t=15435 )
.) More character customization, like Fight Night for example
.) Show the character's name online, not the GamerTag.

I want to add something else.
Why is it that my band can't practice in our "practice space"? You should be able to go to your garage and practice any song you want without fear of losing fans (Of course you gain nothing).
It just makes sense and shouldn't be too difficult to add would it?

Hello folks,
I've been lurking around these forums for a long time but now that I've been playing I too have some things that I would like added/changed and would like my voice heard.
1. I think that you should be able to do a "Make Your Own Setlist" with as many or as few songs as you want once you beat a venue. I remember when they annouced the Grateful Dead content, my wife and I were so excited because we figured you could just load up all 18 songs and do a whole set. But now the only way to do it would be to do a 2-5 song set, finish, go back to the loading page, pick the next 2-5 songs, finish, etc... Same thing with downloadable albums. I am the only one who wants to play the entire Who's next album in a row in London like a real show without having to stop every few songs and start the show again? I haven't really heard this issue mentioned and I am curious to know if anyone else feels strongly about this.
2. Fan cap. I know it's been said but seriously, my wife and I love this game and this is the first time i've ever got her to actually want to play a game with me but she will NEVER play on expert. She loves the bass and loves to play it on medium because it is fun an relaxing. We come home from work, sit down and play for a couple of hours to have fun and I don't think it's right that we are blocked from playing many of the higher tier sets.
3. I agree with most of the other things people have posted here but the above 2 issues are the biggest for me.
P.S. Please do Dark Side of the Moon....please.....please.... Oh God please....
Thanks for listening to my first post. Cheers folks!

How about a bass career that would require you to buy DLC. like if you buy and beat 5 on expert you get this special bass and beat all of them and keep up to date you get this special super bass whatever. It would remove some complaints.

1) HYPERSPEED. Seriously, I can't read some of the later note patterns, and they're moving so slow that there's this weird clash in my mind between how fast I see the notes moving and how fast I know the song is going that screws up my rhythm (that's the best I can explain it).
2) Let my characters switch instruments. As much as I love Pierre, the punk from Paris with the purple pompadour, it just ain't me, you know?
3) Loosen up the timing window on hammer-on/pull-offs to GHII levels. I find myself going "What the hell? I hit that note!" at least once per song, usually more.
4) Make the hammer-ons easier to see. I'm getting used to them, but it's still hard to tell which are which.

First off there are some bands i want to see in the game which also go hand in hand with uncensored dlc these bands are:
Lamb of God
Pantera
Jimi Hendrix
Megadeth
Static-X
Slayer
More Nirvana
More Red hot chili Peppers
more Metallica
There are others things i'd like to see like maybe a logo creator for the band
the ability to use your character on other instruments and still be leader
maybe cheap dlc for new character clothes and styles and things
online bwt of course
and thats basically what i would like to see some of those bands especially lamb of god is the thing i would like to see the most

I haven't really heard this issue mentioned and I am curious to know if anyone else feels strongly about this.
I've been thinking about something similar (though neglected to bring it up in my earlier post). I'm sure we're all wondering how the full album downloads will work. It's not really a full album if you can't play through the whole thing top to bottom. I'm currently placing my trust in HMX that they'll have a good way to do this when it finally comes out.
First off there are some bands i want to see in the game which also go hand in hand with uncensored dlc these bands are:
Lamb of God
Pantera
Jimi Hendrix
Megadeth
Static-X
Slayer
More Nirvana
More Red hot chili Peppers

See above - features, not band requests. There are about 6 million threads for this stuff, and a whole section of the forums devoted to it.
There are others things i'd like to see like maybe a logo creator for the band
Already exists. You can create it the same way you create tattoos, facepaint, and clothing/instrument art.

-Voice chat for PS3
-If no voice chat then maybe a message box during song choosing
-Allow PS3 users to use the "Players Met" option in the XMB to find people that we played with instead of having to remember the exact PSN in our head and then type it in ourselves. I can tell numerous times I was playing with someone but forgot the name, so I could not add them as friends.
-Release a working "Rock Band"(if you will) PS2-PS3(usb) adaptor that works 100% with the game unlike the poor Pelican adapter.
-I would like to retry a song even if I pass it with out going back to song choosing
-Fix the glitch(?) that causes a drummer who is in mid fill when another player fails to be forced out of the fill.
-BWT online and solo
-Lose the Fan Cap, or set it much higher
-Local Leaderboards
-Leaderboards online but tell us that we are Xth out of X number people
-Ability to Disable songs
-Character instrument switching
-Online Player filter (such as Expert only)
-Switch leaders in BWT and ONLINE(sometimes I want the other person to choose the songs)
-Allow a local player to join while in an online game (during band choosing if you are past the first part it says "remote player only") I'd like to have someone be able to join locally during song choosing or if I go back to the "find band members" area without having to start over (thus kicking a remote player I have)
-This goes along with the one above, I'd like to sometimes play guitar with a guy for a couple songs then play my drums with him without having to leave and then invite or search for another player. So I'm saying the ability to switch instruments while in online mode. (maybe make it a choice under under search, invite, kick, continue)

First and foremost by a mile: solo and/or online BWT
Ability to choose a set of songs in quickplay.
Other than that there are a lot of good minor suggestions concerning choosing your own bandmates and such. Either way congrats you guys at HMX have created one of the greatest games ever. Finally PLEASE tell us the next wave of DLC.

There are several things i want, but for Harmonix's sake, I will only post ones that are withing normal scope, but not only that, are things that should have been in the game to begin with!
-Being able to chose what instrument to play with any character. Seriously, Hmx, what were you thinking on this one? It's such an inconvenience. Especially being stuck with the same instrument with a certain instrument since you cant switch out the band leader.
-Solo BWT. When i first read about BWT i was SOOO exited. It was such a HUGE step up from the old GH formula. Then i get the game and i realize the solo tour is the the same formula, that i need someone else or sing an play at the same time to be able to enjoy all these new awesome features. Needless to day, i was deeply disappointed, and this is my biggest disappointment in the game. Please, for the love of God Hmx, make a single player BWT since it's the coolest thing ever.
-Reusing tattoos and band logos. I wish i could transfer tattoos i've made from one character to another. I would also like to be able to use the band logo i made as a tattoo. I don't think this should be too hard to implement and would be super cool.
-File back up. I'm not quite sure the reasoning behind not being able to make copies of our files. Might have to do with leader boards or something, not quite sure, but it would be very useful to be able to back up our files. What if i want a bigger hard drive? Or what if my hard drive gets corrupted? I will have lost all of my characters and progress completely because i was unable to back up my save to a memory stick.
I hope you put deep consideration into these Hmx. They should be withing acceptable scope and are things that should have been in the game to begin with. Thank you for your time and for an otherwise phenomenal game!

Things I'd like to second:
-Being able to switch instruments
-Being able to change band leaders
-More clothing
-Bass World Tour
-Option to Reduce/remove fan caps....some of us are never going to be "experts"
-Song Manager....I'm open minded, but there's a handful of songs each of my band members HATE...(none of us ever want to hear/play Dead or Alive EVER again)
-Also: as far as DLC goes...I hope we get a broad range of stuff. The classic stuff is fun, of course, but the idea of playing Bloc Party or Sleater-Kinney is what gets me really excited. Cherry Bomb was a nice surprise, but doesn't lend itself to great gameplay...but still, that's the kind of stuff that gets me excited, random songs I love but never expect to see on RB.
Overall, this is the best game I've played in years and my family loves it. Just a few minor annoyances, that I think actually might be patchable (except maybe the band leader thing...)
THANKS!

ONe addition I'd love to see is creating "outfits" for our characters closet. For example, if I buy all the skeleton or mummy clothing, I'd like to save that configuration so I don't have to go into the closet and manually select each one. This could be similar to the way you can save face paint.
My bandmates like to get in matching gear for big shows or certain cities and there's certain outfits we reuse all the time and it's a real pain switching between them.
Also: A quick change feature would be nice to. I mean, there's a long history of flamboyant stage attire in rockdom, and I think part of the rock band experience is making our characters look and act like rock stars. So if we could somehow access the "outfits" prior to getting on stage (prior to the show)...Maybe this could be dressed up as a "backstage" menu.
But those might all be RB2 suggestions.
That reminds me: I REALLY want to be able to choose and customize our AI controlled character. We go through a lot of effort to coordinate our band, only to have some freak who looks nothing like us join. I don't understand why we can't choose this person.
Okay, that's really it this time. Thanks again, I love this game!

I'll second those suggestions. I also find accessing "My Closet" to be a bit tedious. Moving it to the top of the list or even up a level in the hierarchy would be nice. (Or enable wrap around navigation so pressing up at the top of lists will take you to the bottom.)
And... to encourage "quick changes" between songs/shows, it'd be pretty cool if all 4 members could switch outfits at the same time... I can see that'd be an interface nightmare though.

I hate the idea of Rock Band 2. A Rock Band 2 means you can't play any songs from the first game unless you switch disks. Please never make Rock Band 2. Just give us more DLC. A year from now, I want to be having Rock Band parties with 300 songs to choose from. Not... "hang on everybody, that song is on Rock Band 2, Let me switch disks real quick." And then "Oh wait, Enter Sandman is on RB1, let me switch back."
If you want to make major updates, please do it through patches or downloadable expansions.

I know this is an extremely long post, but the opportunity of having my thoughts actually being read by a Harmonix employee is too good to pass up. I want to explain why I think my suggested changes are reasonable and needed, hoping that the explanations will make changes more likely to be implemented. I will color code my suggestions to make life easier on people with Giant Wall of Text allergies. :)
At this point I think all of my ideas have been mentioned by others in this thread, so props to whoever posted things before I did.
Make the Band World Tour work online. Don't put it off, don't wait for an expansion, don't procrastinate until version 2. This is the single largest problem I have with the game and, judging by what I've seen hordes of other people say, I'm not alone. I understand that it will require time and resources (AKA "money") to make this a reality, but it absolutely should have been present in the first place. I honestly feel that I've gotten less than I paid for.
I'd love to see changes made to the fan restrictions in BWT. There is a huge learning curve in Rock Band, especially for people who have no prior experience with rhythm and/or singing games. If you are an expert at other games in the genre it isn't a big deal, you were most likely able to transpose your prior expertise with a short adjustment period, but there are plenty of people who need lots of work before they'll move up to the top tiers of difficulty.
It takes a shockingly short amount of time to run into the fan cap on all three of the restricted difficulty levels. I'm not saying that the cap should be removed altogether, but I do think some fairly large adjustments are in order to create a gentler transition period between skill levels.
My suggested solution is a combination of increasing the limits and instituting diminishing returns. The purpose is to encourage people to move up if they can without being so quick to deflate their morale with the dreaded "you earned 0 fans"
Easy - Double the fan limit, but at the halfway point only earn %50 of the fans you normally would. This should afford visitors (i.e. people who visit to play the game as a social activity and don't own it themselves) ample time to get good enough to move up without constant failures.
Medium - Triple the fan limit, earn %50 of the regular fans after reaching the halfway point.
Hard - Yes, quadruple the fan limit, still only earn %50 of the fans after passing the halfway point. The leap from hard to expert is nasty, let's give people time to become more adept at this level before leveling the NoFansForYou gun at them.
I also like the idea of at least earning a percentage of the fans based upon how many players are at the requisite level, but I'd take it a bit further. Personally, I think that if you have two people playing at expert (or whatever level is needed to gain fans) then the band should get the normal amount of fans.
Please, stop making me choose between excluding other people in the room who want to have fun or not earning any fans. You only need two people for a band, there is no real in-game penalty other than higher scores to only play with two people, so let people earn fans/rewards based upon the top two players' difficulties. For example, my buddy and I are experts, so our two man band can earn unlimited fans. Hooray for us. Our girlfriends want to play with us and have fun, but they can only handle a lower difficulty level. Now comes the tricky part... if they play with us they feel like they're holding us back back because of the stupid fan cap that gets rubbed in their faces after every song. Fix this.
If you insist on forcing people to have multiple characters simply to access different instruments then store the money on each profile, not each character. Enough said.
Disabling songs that were built into the game as progression content is a little sketchy, as far as I'm concerned if you're a good musician you should be able to perform any type of music on your chosen instrument in a competent manner. The core songs in the game cover a wide span of styles and difficulty, so forcing people to deal with them isn't really a bad thing. With that said...Bonus songs and DLC are not core requirements of the game, you don't need them for anything, so they should always be optional. We need a way to individually tag them as being fair game for random set lists. I unlocked all of the bonus content just to get to Timmy. I encountered some other cool music along the way, but I also found some that I absolutely detest. I most certainly don't want to listen to those songs ever again, let alone play them, so stop forcing my hand. DLC is shared by everyone on the system, just because it's present does not mean that the person playing wanted it to be there, so don't force it into the rotation when the person who wanted it isn't even around.
Add more clothing and accessories. Don't misunderstand me, there's a nice selection of clothes right now in the basic game. In comparison, the accessories are very limited. With that aside, I support this request with an eye towards the future. Things aren't bad right now, but give it a few more months and I have no doubt that lots of people will have bought everything available (even if they don't particularly like it). Earning money is fun, but it becomes pointless when you get to the point where there is absolutely nothing to spend it on. Please don't let that happen.
Changing outfits is a tedious process, mainly because there is no such thing as an outfit. Between selecting each individual piece from a large closet and choosing your colors it can easily take over five minutes even when you know exactly what you want to wear. When four players all want to change... egads. I know that it isn't feasible to let everyone go shopping or customize their clothes at the same time due to space limitations on the screen, but that limitation doesn't have to be a complete roadblock. Please add the functionality to allow people create and save collections of clothing/accessories and allow them to be changed during the difficulty selection screen.
Add more in the instrument shop, especially for singers and drummers. The guitar players' options aren't horrible right now, but the other people really seem to have gotten shafted. Three microphones? A couple handfuls of colors of the exact same drum kits. I know there's only so much you can do with those things, but give us something to play with. Mic stands, custom drumsticks and drumheads spring immediately to mind.
At the character select screen "create new" should only be the default selection if you do not have a character that matches the controller you're signed in on. This seems like a no brainer to me, but somebody in charge obviously disagreed. Maybe the Harmonix staff likes to create new characters every single time they play, but I'll bet you anything you care to mention that the vast majority of the players want to play one of their saved characters %99.999 of the time.
After completing a song please add "restart song" as an option. When people want to play the same song repeatedly for any reason that's a prime opportunity to generate some goodwill by NOT making them sit through a long loading screen.
Ok, it's way past time to end this post. Thanks to all of you who actually read this monstrosity.

Wolfwere gave me an idea to expand on my post about characters. As I said in an earlier post, you should be able to make characters that are not attached to an instrument. You should also be able to select what character you want just before or after the difficulty selection when you're in quickplay mode.
When I have Rock Band parties, people would like to play with their own characters, but we all rotate instruments.

I know this goes against "Quick play" but I'd like create set lists without having to go into tour modes. I'd also like to change camera effects/angles, watch replays of a performance and be able to save still images (Forza like) to be used for ????????.

Glad that my obnoxiously large post was good for something, Briz9. :D
Speaking of reminders, Turnthree jogged my brain. I'd really love to be able to record performances or, barring that, at least have the option to make the system play through entire songs like a music video.
It seems like a waste that Harmonix put so much into creating all those spiffy animations that are hidden by the note charts. I think it'd be cool to play a set and then get to watch your performance while your band is taking a break.

First, a way to pipe your personal instrument track to your headset output (like a normal monitor on stage) would be very handy. Also the ability to add a 'click track' to this output would also be handy for people with very little rhythm. You have the white lines on the screen, the system has to know the BPM.
I'd also like to see a MIDI converter for the drums. The stock drumset is OK, but it's going to suffer horrific wear and tear, and mostly just fail on hard an expert
(especially things like the kick pedal). Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, just make a box with the standard controller layout and a MIDI converter. Or maybe (in the case of the 360) something that snaps into the expansion port (like the keyboard). MIDI drums have a base standard, so you know how to map note->Pad if you don't want to put the configurability in. You'd probably want to map Tom 1 and all the hi-hat notes to yellow, and Tom 2 and the ride notes to blue. That way the person can switch up on their own, and it would still trigger as if they were hitting the pad. A peripheral like this also opens up what software you could sell in the future.
I'd also be interested in the ability to specify the rest of my band in solo mode (Seriously, how many GWAR-looking people do I need in the average band?).
Also, it would be nice if a character didn't have to be fixed to an instrument. I can play multiple things IRL, it seems strange to have to make multiple versions of me to do it in game.
Being able to save multiple "outfits" in your closet would also be cool, and possibly randomise which outfit you're wearing when the gig starts.

First post here, because as someone said earlier this opportunity is too good to pass up.
I unfortunately have nothing new to add, but I wanted to reiterate a few things.
-Fan caps. My wife is never going to be a Hard/Expert player, and I think it's stupid for us to have to get one of our friends to come over to sing or play guitar on Hard on Run to the Hills because we can't both be in sync. I vote for completely eliminating them, with the suggestion about 100% fan gain on expert, 75% fan gain on Hard, 50% on Medium, and 25% on Easy. Great idea there.
-BWT Solo & Online.
also, did I read on here that you can only have one person per console playing on Xbox Live at a time? If so this is an atrocity and needs to be fixed! I was really looking forward to this but haven't tried it out yet.

No, you can have multiple people play at once, but the other people need to be logged in as guests under your profile.

I would really love to see a double bass pedal addition in the future Rock Band releases. I dont know if this has been discussed in other threads but i think it would be awesome. I have noticed a couple of times playing on my friends Rock Band that i would try to use a different bass pedal for certain sections.
Anyways thats just my two cents

Please add a feature to allow multiple instruments to practice at the same time or have a free play mode.
Things I would like to see:
1. Make each instrument have its own calibration (lag) settings (including voice).
2. Fix the mic/drum lag so we can turn the mic volume up.
3. If the mic/drum lag can't be fixed, I'd like to see an option to mute the drums during fills.
4. A demo part to practice mode where you just listen so you can see and hear how it's played to help you learn timings.
5. Ability to choose a focus and/or camera angle while the band is playing.

Okay, after playing some more, and going back and playing Guitar Hero II, I'm pretty sure the timing window is the same....so the problem is all mental. The only way I know how to put it is that the chart moves slower than my mind. I'm missing notes because I'm hitting them too soon. I suppose I could practice each song enough to know exactly when to hit things, but -- and pardon my french here -- **** that, I'll just go learn the song on my real guitar. Please, hyperspeed!

Please make all songs in Expert actually Gold star-able. Apparently a select few aren't due to the math formula. This stinks as I try to gold star every song, and when I have the 2nd best score and 100% a song, I expect the stars to turn gold every time. But they don't. Rockaway Beach is the only example I have but I suspect the Vagiant song has the same issue as well. If someone 100%'s the song that is not mathematically gold star-able, just gold star it. (or better yet, change the formula so that all songs can be gold starred). Thanks in advance.

-BWT Solo & Online.
I agree with this. I'm the only one in my band that can play hard/expert, and the fan cap has stopped us from even playing BWT anymore. Having scaled fan gain per difficulty level per player solves this problem in my opinion. It still gives incentive for players to get better, but without forcing them to plateaus that they just can't reach. The fan cap needs to go, or at least give an option to those of us who could care less about leaderboards to turn it off. If the fan cap is removed, then if you fail out of a song then you should lose some fans whether you are saved and finish the song or not. That way it's a little harder.
BWT is the most interesting part of RB, and one of the best aspects in gaming I've seen in years. It's too bad that the fan cap kills it. I wish I could force my bandmate's improvement, but some people just aren't able to play on hard/expert/need more time than the current cap allows for improvement/are perfectly happy playing on medium, and they shouldn't be punished for it.
BWT Online: Hoping for this so I can play with my friends that don't live nearby.
BWT Solo: I don't really care if this happens or not, but I think a lot of people would really love it.

Amongst the many other things that have been posted, i mainly want 2 things, ones an annoyance, the other is something everyones asking for.
1- I play lefty, my character is set to lefty, yet hes playing right handed, that bothers me, its just a minor annoyance but if its set to left shouldnt he play left?
2- The ability to change the instrument u play. I made a character of me, and i made him to sing cuz i wanted to test that out, why is he stuck only singing? real bands the bandmates usualy switch it up from time to time, and itd be nice to be able to do that in a game if u want a character who knows how to do it all, like my brother does, hes a one man band if he had the extra limbs to play it all :P

I just learned that there was no world band tour mode for ps2! It's a linear mode like solo tour mode, but multiplayer. Theres no character editing too. That's really disapointing. Ps2 versions should have those modes too. I'm not sure i'm gonna buy it now. It's only of a gh3 with other instruments. Maybe i'll buy it instead.
Noooo ok, I'm not buying gh3 but i'm very disapointed anyway.

I agree w/ Bass solo tour, instrument changing, and most of the ususal.
One different thing Id like to see is maybe some type of mode to let the singer play along without being scored. Face it. Most of us arent great singers. Some type of karaoke party mode or something so when our drunken knuckle head friend who can barely speak let alone sing wants to play, we can get through a song without getting booted.

Just want to second the fan cap limit removal. I love playing BWT with my wife and two young sons. Neither of my boys can play many songs on Medium, so we've already hit the limit of 50,000 fans. While we continue enjoying playing, it's going to be a long while before can get past that limit.

My list of suggestions I'll try to keep new and obviously within the realm of what's doable:
1. Update Streak Meter Visuals - The circular streak meter under the chart target could use a small but very worthwhile visual update. As the "pie" gets filled the first time around between 1x and 2x, the background is black. Unfortunately the 2nd and 3rd times around the background is still black! Going around the "clock" 301% looks almost identical to 1% around. I suggest the color backgrounds to the "1x" "2x" "3x" "4x" icons all be different colors black/red/green/blue instead of black/black/black/blue and that the background for the "pie" after the initial 1x revolution is gray or some other color instead of black.
http://www.squick.org/ffa/bin/4x%20copy.gif
At a glance one sometimes doesn't know "Did I miss a note or is it simply in between 3x and 4x?" and that's a pretty big fail for a visual indicator.
2. Separate lag settings per instrument. Some people have noted that they would calibrate the game for one instrument and another and consistently get different results.
3. Band Practice.
4. Preference settings in the automatic player matchmaking system. "I am a blank that prefers blank."
5. Transfer band leader ability.
6. Band uses absent player characters as fill in instead of randomly generated.
7. Quickplay, online play earns cash. There's no reason to deny money to a character that played a game mode wherein he/she could fail.
8. Move vocal track/ mic volume/ mic sensitivity adjustment sliders off the vocal track area to some other unused portion of the screen, perhaps to the left of the vocal target line or simply below the vocal chart display altogether.
9. Full screen band logo canvas space with some guide lines. The 2D band logo area is super tiny and the 3D band logo area in the editor has the right 20-30% cut off. Also the red lighting on the 3D representation skews the colors. The editing should happen usually in 2D mode with a 3D preview on the "bed sheet".

The only real change I want is the Band leader issue. That's huge. My wife loves to play guitar and i play the drums. Last night I wanted to play guitar but could not because my wife won't play the drums.
I don't mind creating a new character per instrument, but maybe associate the band to the profile so that when the profile is logged on any characters that are under that profile will be able to continue the BWT.
I don't think the Band leader adds anything to the game, but right now it certainly subtracts from it.

I would love to be able to skip the instructions on the tutorials. Some of the advanced sessions would be really useful practice, but I just get soooo frustrated listening to the schpeal that I don't bother. If you are given the option to try again, it should just prompt you to the beginning of the test.
Also, I agree that you reach the fan cap way to quickly, my husband and I hit it the first time we played the game. I am all for there being a fan cap and a difficulty, and it even being harder to keep getting fans at the lower difficulty, but it takes more than your first time playing a rhthym game to get to the more advanced levels.

In no particular order this is my immediate wishlist:
- Bass solo tour.
- Ability to transfer art between characters.
- Ability to export pictures of your band/characters/venues. Like the Gran Turismo Photo Shoot Mode.
- Lose the Band Leader.
- Solo World Tour gold stars on all skill levels.
- Solo Bass tour.
- Being able to change instruments.
- Better Vocal Practice.
- Choice of band members.
- Fill practices.
- As bland and repetitive as it may get, I would still like a Solo Bass Tour.
- Have our character name show up online instead of AccountName(1), AccountName(2), etc.
- Money linked to account, not character.
- Not having to rebuy hats when changing character's hair colour.
- Online BWT.
- While yer at it throw in a Solo Bass tour.
- PS3 Voice Chat.
- Solo World Tour.
- Song manager for enabling/disabling songs for random setlist.
- Oh yeah if you can play the Bass on solo tour. Add a Gold and Silver Bass Guitar to get too.

1. Solo BWT-I love the BWT, but I live in ther country and cant just have somebody come over 24-7 to play with and I would really like a solo career beside what it is now.
2. Bass Career-espicially if they have a solo BWT

First off great thread and I'm glad to see HMX people reading our thoughts that is encouraging. A few reiterated points and maybe some new ones:
1. Solo and online BWT it would really enhance the game in my opinion.
2. Customizable NPC band members.
3. Bass solo tour.
4. An endgame of sorts- maybe an expansion for unplugged sessions. Since you are working with Mtv on this you should have access to some great unplugged sessions. Would be an awesome added thing to do after you beat the game.
5. Voice chat for PS3 please.
6. I know this is more of a hardware issue, but it would be nice if at some point in time you could sell replaceement drum pedals as our warranties aren't lifetime and all.

first of all i absolutley love this game its amazing deffinetly if not my favorite game ive ever played in my top 3 for sure anyways, ive noticed a few flaws wich dont really ruin the experience but do bring the over all experience down a peg or 2 and here some suggestions of what to change. all the things i want the most to least in order
1-Fan Caps, please this is rediculous i dont play drums in real life yet im expected to play like danney carrey  drums are the main reason i got rock band and the world tour mode i just wish i could enjoy the whole thing without having to worry about playing professionally.
2-Multiple instrument characters, i wish i could just use my drummer on guitar and everything else i wanted to play but i cant it brings me down:(
3-something is wrong with the pull-on pull-off system it just doesnt seem fluid like there isnt enough time in between notes sometimes or on the upper frets some pull offs just dont register its wierd if theyres something u could do harmonix id love it.
4-this doesnt bother me so much but possibly if u are playing a gig and u have a male singer and a song featureing a female vocalist comes on could u please make it so the singer is replaced with a female vocalist, i just think it would be easier on the eyes thank you
thats all......for now, i love the game please keep up the amazing dlc packs ADD TOOL PLEASE! and rock on \m/

I'll add my .02.
-Not adding online or solo BWT was a major oversight. If I'm without my wife (or she just doesn't want to play), I shouldn't be relegated to regular guitar hero mode.
-The fancap still totally sucks. Should i be able to own the leaderboards on easy mode? No. Should I be able to get fans on easy and medium? Yes.
-Changing instruments is a pain in the butt. My wife and I were playing BWT, me on drums and her on bass. I wanted to change instruments and she was done playing totally. We had to both sign out, change out the instruments, then me get the guitar, plug it in, and re-sign in back under my name. What a pain in the butt.
-One character should be able to play multiple instruments. Plain and simple.
-No band leaders. As long as the profile with that band is signed in, you should have access to that band. I am the drums band leader between my wife and I. If we want to sing and play guitar or have guitar and bass, we're SOL. Why would they make it like that? Another HUGE oversight that should have come to light during playtesting.
p.s. Regarding scope, Harmonix puts out one game every 3 years, what else do they have to do except fix the game they just released?
p.p.s. Don't make Rock Band 2. Just keep fixing RB1. There's nothing so wrong with RB that can't be fixed with just a patch. Otherwise it'll be just like GH2/3. They "meant" to put online in 2 but didn't get around to it. So they put it in 3. However, there's no reason that all of GH3 couldn't have been one big DLC for 2 since it's pretty much the same with online. That'll be RB2. Plus, if there's no RB2, people's DLC will be safe.

I didn't think that the blocking songs for random setlists was a good idea...until I remembered I can't even sing Flyleaf on Medium =( That chick can scrrreeeeaaammm

For drums, on the "easier" levels, have an actual drummer, sort of "proofread" these charts. I get it, you're playing less notes, but some of those notes remaining, are in just plain goofy spots. In some cases, the songs are easier in hard/expert mode. I'd like to see more emphasis on at least carrying a steady beat with simplified fills, vs. playing a bass drum note every 4 bars.

11. Random songs in a mystery setlist should be limited in some venues. Early mystery set lists should pick from an easier set and the last ones in the game should pick from the whole selection.

12. When failing a song in a multi-song set list you immediately lose N fans but you lose zero fans for subsequently quitting the set list after failing the song.
Instead you should lose 1/2*N fans for the failure and 1/2*N fans for quiting the entire set list after failure (as opposed to trying again).
It may be bad for a band to fail a song, but it's definitely worse for them to give up, not try it again, and leave the stage.

I was playing in practice mode and was thinking to myself about what would make practice mode better, and stopped playing, came to the computer, and registered specifically to ask this request:
Make practice mode match your ability - for example, start at 100% speed, and when you start to miss notes, slow down a bit until you can hit them repeatedly, for at least a few measures (if not the rest of the section), then slowly speed up. The speed changes need to be very gradual, almost so you don't notice it, otherwise it defeats the purpose. I was playing "War Pigs" on the drums on Hard, and there are certain sections that I can nail on 100% speed. However, there are certain sections of the song that I can't stick unless I slow it down to 70%. I found it frustrating to have to stop playing and reach for the d-pad to slow down the music for a few minutes, just to have to speed it up again once I was feeling comfortable with the section.

First I want to say that you guys did an amazing job with this game and I will probably never go back to playing any other game again but i have only a few things i would change:
Solo and Online Band World Tour
Solo Bass Tour with unlockable silver and gold bass
No fan caps
Ps3 Voice Chat
Be able to change body type and attitude after you already created someone
but most of all I want three things...
(1.)PLEASE PUT THE ABILITY TO CHOOSE YOUR BANDMATES IN SOLO AND BWT INSTEAD OF SOME RANDOM CHARACTERS BEING GENERATED.
(2.)PLEASE DON'T LOCK A CHARACTER TO ONE INSTRUMENT.
(3.)PLEASE MAKE AN OPTION SO YOU CAN WATCH YOUR PERFORMANCE WITH NO NOTE CHARTS OR ANYTHING
One last thing...don't make a Rock Band 2. Just keep working with Rock Band.
Thanks for your time, guys! :D

I would like to a see freeplay with the drums meaning I can play the drums as sort of a drum machine, or I can freeplay with the Rock band set list. Before each song starts I noticed you can play the drums so I think it should be pretty simple to do...

I'd like to have an option to completely turn off the drum fills that occur during a song (the end fills are fine). I feel that throwing in random drum fills (that lag :( ) completely screws up the flow of the song. After all, we're playing famous songs that were written other people, not our own interpretations. I mean, it just doesn't feel right... which probably is why they didn't approach the same idea with guitars.
Yeah, I know that could eliminate the use of Overdrive on the drums, but that's why I want it to be an option. I would feel just fine not using it at all.
To suggest an alternate, maybe overdrive on the drums could be activated at key points in a song, such as completing a sequence leading into the chorus. Or, perhaps nailing the white notes could contribute to the overdrive of the other player.

All of these are great suggestions, and this has been an awesome thread.
Here's my addition.
- Having the ability to have two instruments to one player. I like to sing and play guitar at the same time, but it looks awkward when theres a guitarist and a singer but your doing both.
- GET RID OF BAND LEADER! period.
- NO RB2 i agree that it would be pointless when you could just continually release DLC or release discs of DLC (i.e. guitar hero rock the 80s)
- Character able to switch instruments
- fix vocal and drum lag please
- Solo/Bass BWT
- Online BWT would totally kick ass
- More selection for all instruments in store
- Release new guitars to buy in real life because i don't have GH3 for my 360. Oh, same for mics and drums.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's all for now. if i can think of anything i'll add it later

I agree with everything Wolfwere posted, but the things I'd most like to see (in order of priority) are:
1) Online BWT via Xbox Live.
2) Solo BWT.
3) Progressive fan cap option, as others have mentioned. (on Easy you earn 25% of the fans possible; on Medium you earn 50%, etc.)
4) Song manager. (a.k.a., the ability to enable/disable certain songs)
5) The ability to choose your NPC bandmates.
6) The ability to use one character on more than one instrument instead of having to create a separate character for each instrument.
7) When logging in, highlight the name of the first available character for a given instrument instead of the "Create Character" option.
8) The "Restart Song" option after completing a song.
1hitwonder also had a genius idea: A karaoke-type mode where the singer isn't scored, or at least can't cause the entire band to fail; a vocal immunity of sorts. Under certain circumstances I find that having an exceptionally bad singer can actually make the game more fun (in moderation, of course!).
My hat's off to you, HMX. You made one helluva game.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but i think this above all is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. I bought the game as somethin for me and my brothers and sisters to do, and it ended up turning into a blame game, and everyone hating each other...its sad.
ADD A BACKUP FEATURE
here let me bold that ADD A FREAKIN BACKUP FEATURE
We went throught the endless setlist on medium a while back and realized you cant really fail (completly just lose). So we decided we would, WITH OUR EXTREMELY AMATUER SKILLS...muscle through it on EXPERT..We made it for the most part, just finishing Outside by Tribe, After 2 DAYS..So we paused it to pop fingers and rotate our rists to prep for Highway Star by Deep Purple..Brought up the xbox screen and said connect to xbox live. So we get ready to play it, and i clicked the connect option...GUESS WHAT FREAKIN HAPPEND?! It said a players profile has recently changed/logged out, and then returned to the menu...thats it..over. Didnt give us crap, its like we never even went thru those 53(?) songs. Now sure, thats nothin for some of you, but remember, weve never played intruments, or musical video games..One person blamed another, and there was fights, all over a video game..Please..for gods sake, add some sort of after song save feature, somethin, some sort of back up. Not only for the anger issues, but remember, im sure were not the only ones who had to leave the xbox on overnight to sleep, and microsoft is against leavin the stupid thing on more than an hour..HELP PLEASEEEEE :((

It would be awesome to see a freestyle drum practice mode. Someone mentioned this and I just had to echo it! Some software company is making money on software that will allow me to play my drum kit with GarageBand, but it would be really cool to be able to just play the drums as part of RB.
(One of the main reasons we bought this game was that we didn't have the space or money for a standard drum kit:) )
Also get very annoyed by the band leader function and my many recreations of myself playing different instruments.
I want fans when I do a solo tour!
I agree with the need for a headset mic - my 3 year old does not make a very reliable mic stand.
Love the game;) Love that I hand my husband's butt to him daily on the drums:p

Okay, I've been thinking about this a lot now. Here's my list--including things I've not seen anyone else suggest:
(Most of them would probably need to be implemented as "Rock Band 2", or a MAJOR patch, since I'm actually suggesting changes to the game design.)
1) Get BWT to work with networked players--I expect it will work a lot like cooperative online Band QuickPlay. But c'mon guys. You kinda promised us this one....
2) When you create a band and not all human players are there, please don't substitute random NPC's for them. Just let the not-present character BE an NPC who doesn't get any money or leaderboard standing. This should be EASY and I can't believe that it's not the default behavior of the game.
3) Rhythm Guitar: In the Guitar Hero games, some of the tracks (i.e. FreeBird) would have Lead and Rhythm Guitar instead of Guitar and Bass. For songs where it makes sense, include a Rhythm Guitar track.
4) More than 2 guitar tracks: Since the game treats guitar and bass as variations of the same instrument (I expect it's mainly because they use the same controller), on the screen where the guitar players select either guitar or bass, give them the three choices of lead, rhythm, bass. Heck, play the four-player game as guitar-guitar-bass-singer if you have the controllers.
5) Why stop at Rhythm Guitar? Imagine a bluegrass song where your choices are guitar, bass, or banjo....
(An aside: PLEASE, Dueling Banjos as DLC!)
6) Why is the guitar the only instrument with two parts? Why not songs with multiple drum tracks (Grateful Dead, anyone?) or with multiple singers? Karaoke Revolution has a great "duets" mode and it would be awesome to play a song as singer-singer-guitar-drums. Don't even get me started on Bang Camaro! ;)
7) Solo tracks: Not every song has to be the whole band. When real bands play, they'll have guitar solos and drums solos during the show to give the other musicians a breather. These "solo tracks" would blend in nicely with the career modes and serve as upper-tier songs. They could be either entirely solo, or have the band join in towards the end.
8) There should not be a Bass Solo Career. What there should be are songs played on the bass included in the guitar career. Take 5-8 of the songs with the most interesting bass parts (Are You Gonna Be My Girl, Won't Get Fooled Again, Highway Star are a couple of my favorites) and just make them a part of the guitar career. The same song can even be in the career twice--once on the bass and once on the guitar.
9) Change the "musician" avatar to be instrument-agnostic. I expect the reason behind this design is to have musician-specific things like the tee-shirt with the instrument logo. But the coolness of those exclusives is WAY overshadowed by the "why-can't-I-do-this?" factor.
10) A compromise: create a way to convert an existing musician to a new instrument. Maybe you'll lose the special stuff. Oh well.
11) Another compromise: create a way to "copy" an existing character when creating a new one. Just copy the physical stuff and home town at first, then later have a way of copying clothing, instruments, tatoos, etc., including making the necessary purchases IF the character has enough money.
12) If I can't create a multi-instrument musician, then at least allow me to create musicians of different instruments with the same name. Then even if I have to create three different persona, I can maintain the illusion of them being the same person by having the same look and name.
13) Allow us to change the band leader. Yes, this would have the effect of copying a bunch of data from one character to another, but it would allow the leader to hand off a band to another person, or allow the leader to switch instruments to another of his/her persona. If a we had multiple-instrument musicians we wouldn't need this, but since we don't, this is essential.
14) Create a way to designate that there is to be a microphone in front of a given musician on stage. If I'm playing and singing, I should be able to see that reflected on-screen. When playing Tom Sawyer, I want the option of having just the three people on stage. (However, I know that this is a big deal because it means creating a huge number of additional animations for the various musicians for how they'll act on stage--which is likely the second reason why they didn't do it in the first place. The first reason is that it violates the identify-the-instrument-by-the-controller design.)
Now for the biggee:
15) Design the "on-stage" graphics for 1-8 characters on-screen instead of always exactly 4. Why 1? For the solo tracks I mentioned above (#6). Why 8? Well, it's like this: Some bands are 5-piece and add a keyboard player. So put an NPC keyboard player on-stage (Styx, Dream Theater). Make the player characters interact with them. Also, if a song has additional guitar tracks (see #3 above) put that third guitarist on-screen as an NPC. Add backup singers. Add that second drum kit. IT'S A PARTY!!!
Just my two . . . err . . . fifteen cents.

I'd like to see a "Motor City Online" style massively multiplayer persistent state online world
Understanding that it'd be specific to either Xbox Live or PS3... there's still enough user base in either for it to work.
Here'd be my ideas for it:
1) Obviously, Online Bands.
2) The ability to "Gig" online.
3) An "experience" points system to offer online rewards. Play a gig, get points, more points for higher difficulties. You would also get experience points for ATTENDING gigs. For example:
You need 1000 points to reach the next level, which will allow you to gig at a bigger club. To get those points you could attend a gig, with experience points awarded based on the skill of the band performing.
4) Classifieds where you can sell custom outfits, instruments (I made my wife a bunch of guitars in the game with various designs... look pretty sweet if I do say so myself ), advertise for band openings, etc.
5) Battle of The bands tournaments.
6) Solo face-offs with crowds (players can watch)
7) Each character has a "home city" where they "live" each city has a rating based on how well the musicians play. The city with the highest rating gets bragging rights.
8) Music clubs, multiple bands in one club. More bragging rights.
I'm sure there's hundreds of other ideas... but like I saidl the point would be persistent state online.

This suggestion wouldn't be able to be realized through a patch, but it could maybe address people's desire for a bass solo tour. I'd love to see Harmonix come out with a bass guitar that would have a touch sensitive pad on it (it could be located slightly above the strum bar). This pad would allow you to either tap your fingers on it to semi simulate plucking, or allowing you to slap your thumb against it to simulate slap bass. This would give the bass a much different feel, challenge, and make it more fun to play giving a real reason to have a solo bass tour mode. Right now bass sections feel like "dumbed down" guitar, not really making it fun to play on its own. Maybe even make a bundle so that you get the bass, and a online code that would then allow a solo bass tour mode, as well as a few free song downloads to take advantage of the new controler (Chili Peppers & Primus to name a few). Yes it is more money to shell out later, but you wouldn't have to get it unless bass was something you really had a desire to play. If you don't get the bundle... you could still play all bass parts normally.

Yet another vote for Solo Solo BWT, or *some* way to incorporate DLC songs in the solo mode. As it is now if I buy extra songs I can only play them in "QuickPlay" which isn't nearly as interesting to me as playing with one of my characters.
Heck, I'd be happy if I could just set up a play list of songs and kick back and play through them one after another.
If you want to sell DLC, make it an interesting addition for both folks who play with friends and those of us who're beyond the age of easily having a couple friends over for a night of gaming. Between kids, jobs and spouses, getting 'a night out' together is pretty rare for me and my circle of friends.

As it is now if I buy extra songs I can only play them in "QuickPlay" which isn't nearly as interesting to me as playing with one of my characters. You can do that now. There are two special "venues" at the end of the solo-tour song list--one for the in-game bonus songs and one for the DLC songs. You even get money for your character by playing them there and it keeps track of that character's highest score for the song!

Well i'm probably going to sound like a skipping record but it's better to be heard than to let my gripes go unspoken..... We are the masses and all that after all.
First issue Band Leader and member management.
Band leader and account management is silly. Me and my GF both have Xbox live accounts, and in addition we have about 4 other friends without accounts who have characters tied in to our accounts. Though I dont mind the 1 character to an instrument rule, that, combined with the band leader restriction has caused INCREDIBLE confusion resulting in us having to keep two separate bands (one with me as leader one with the GF since we sometimes like to play while the other isn't around) and NONE of our casual players ever sure which of their characters are available for which bands.
For those who are confused by that last thing i'll try to break it down. Since only 2 of us have Xbox Live accounts which can each be signed into only 1 controller at a time. During a 4 player game only one of our characters can be on the account that isn't the band leader. Resulting in the other 4 casual players of my house needing to create not 3 characters each but 6. One for each intstrument on my account and another guitar/vocal/drummer on my GF's account, since we dont always play together.
Thats right our band lineup HAS to include 2 leaders and SIXTEEN additional members if we want to keep playing our own personalized characters. (what are we a Ska band?)
Second Issue Mystery Setlists and DLC
I accept the fact that there is some challenge required in a Mystery Setlist due to its EXTREMELY variable difficulty, but I feel that Downloadable content tips the scales of that challenge (Either way depending on the songs downloaded) My friends have requested nay demanded I stop downloading difficult DLC so that it brings the game to a grinding halt during these Mystery setlists.
It would probably be in your best interest to enable a feature to disable DLC from showing up in Random Setlists so that players could maintain the initial balance in Random Setlist challenges, while still purchasing DLC to keep their personal collections fresh and interesting. You would like us to buy more after all wouldn't you?
Last issue Varied skill judgement.
First off I say DO NOT remove the Fan caps in Band World tour mode. I believe you thought this feature through and it gives all of the players a goal to become better and aim for higher difficulies. Remember when beating a game was SUPPOSED to be hard? However I would like to suggest some form of reward for individual members playing at higher difficulties. Again I give you the example of my large household band with its rotating roster.
Me and my girlfriend, being die hard harmonix and Rock Band fans play through most of the game on the expert level, though our 4 friends all have varied skill levels with the different intstruments. (our bassist being the most skilled and she can only play on the medium difficulty) This has necessitated me and my GF to make a THIRD band simply so we can play at the expert level to reach the highest challenges of the game.
Now we have, our private band (which she leads), our house band (which I lead), and our extra band for when i'm not home, or not in the mood to sing since my lead band is stuck to vocals. As you may imagine playing through the same game three times in a row can get a bit tedious and frustrating.
While part of this can be solved by the fixing Band leader issue perhaps the Fan Caps would be less of an issue with players if instead of Capping the fans for the band as a whole, you penalized the amount of fans based on the number of players at difficulties below the fan cap.
For example in a 4 player game if Hard is required to gain fans, and two players are playing hard, but two are playing easy. Allow the band to get only Half the total fans they would have got if they had all played on Hard.
This way at least the band gains some form of reward for those pulling their weight.
Of course in the end i'm no programmer and I'm not sure how much of this can actually be changed without the developers having to create a brand new game. These are just the things I feel would streamline my Rock Band Experience and remove the few problems I have with an otherwise AWESOME game. Thanks for hearing me out.
Oh yeah and on a completely bells and whistles scale i'd like to be able to design the npc's who fill up our empty band spots. When me and my GF play our private band we've seen to it that our characters outfit's match and it would be awesome if we could make the other 2 guys match also.
And on a I'm probably dreaming scale, BWT online would be GREAT!!! I'd love to find new people (perhaps even through these forums) to jam with and have it actually mean something (unlike the current quickplay mode)

I didn't read through the entire thread, so this might have been mentioned before.
I don't know if it's even doable, but I'd like the option to switch the position of the note charts. I've been attempting to play guitar and sing at the same time, but it's really hard to do with songs you don't know, since the song lyrics are at the top while the guitar notes are going downward. Singing in single player puts the lyrics on the bottom. Having the lyrics placed under the guitar part instead of on top would be much nicer, IMO.
I'd also like to have song stats like the guitar hero games had, if for no other reason than knowing exactly which section to practice on if you should happen to have problems with a given song.

I noticed this thread a bit late...
I think there should be Funk songs in RB.
1. Because then there is some amazing music out there that would qualify.
2. It would liven up the bass part.
3. Because a "Funk Fashions" section would rule.
Funk Fashions would be soooo cool.
Oh and I would also like a different system for fan caps and being able to change instruments for characters. Once again I can rock out on guitar on hard and the drums on medium but my roommate can only do easy on guitar and only the easy easy songs on drums. It sucks that we can't play in Tour mode :(.

As everyone has said, the game is AWESOME FUN. thanks
top of my list:
- multi instrument characters
- bass solo career
- fix the fan cap somehow, it should not max out after a few hours of play (we are not all uber musicians/twitch gamers)
- allow saves to be copied, what is so bad about wanting to play my save at a friends house
- sell a bundle with 2 guitars
the rest:
- a way to disable/vote on random songs
- stats, these were fun to look at in GH and I would like to see them again
- choose what npc's are playing w/ me
- create a set quickplay (solo and group), pick number of songs, pick songs
- ho/po need to be more distinctive, maybe not have the wrapper, just the color, I keep mixing them up
- ability to globally save logo/tats so every character can access them (example tatoo the band logo on everyone) (not online)
- sort songs by bandname (example all queens of the stone age songs)
- dlc for clothes, instruments, venues
- bwt online (I know you tried)
- no fail mode
- ability to save outfits
- single play bwt, I like the solo career the way it is, but wouldnt object to bwt solo mode since so many people want it.
I like the money being on the characters because if there was one pot for the band or account, by hubby would spend all the money.
There is also an annoying bug where after you create a setlist and not the band leader has selected the level, but the band leader has not, if the not the leader person presses back, the screen goes back to the world map. this pisses off the band leader because he has to make the set all over again

I just have a couple requests to make the game better
I have the PS3 version and as we all know the lack of a 2nd Guitar issue
There are 4 of us over here that play the game and we each have an instrument which we prefer. One does the drums which she likes, one likes singing, I play lead guitar, and the other like doing bass. The problem is that we all can't play at the same time.
Another thing is the we all like to play solo when everyone else is away and the person who likes the bass feels cheated that they don't have and instrument and don't have a solo tour to practice with.
Also the characters need to be able to switch instruments. For example I sometimes like to play the drums as a change and to fill in for the drummer while they are away so the the person can play bass. I had to start a new band and create a new character just to do that.
Something needs to be done about mixed difficulty where I can play on the higher levels, but they can only handle easy at the moment, but its like we hit a brick wall with the fans and such since they can't play on the same level as I do. You should make it determined by the person on the highest level determines the cap not the other way around.
Hats should be added as an option under clothing acessories and not just as select hairstyles.
A better song difficulty rating menu would be good for the songs because we always have trouble figuring out which songs are easier for each instrument. For example one song might be easy to play the guitar part, but hard to sing and play on the drums and vice versa.

OH MY GOD this is a great thread. I hope this is being studied for possibilities by the HMX people.
I would just leave it at that, but that would be weird, so I'll add my hopes for improvements. A lot of this is covered by others, and sorry for the length, but here they are:
First, and in a way, these first two thoughts are related:
- I know this is what everyone is suggesting: "Let the band leader play a different instrument." I want to be able to occasionally let an AI character play drums so I can sing. As the band leader stuck as the drummer, may I remind you that Peter Chris sang 'Beth,' you know!
- fan cap is becoming a bummer, as like many, my girl and I play fairly casually... I can safely say we are going to get frustrated and stop playing on medium/hard, and I know we're missing out on some great music that we won't unlock at this pace. We get stuck playing the same songs on medium forever, with no new fans gained. Even if we only gained a few new fans every show, we would still be playing a lot of those same songs on 'medium' for a long time, but we would eventually unlock more songs to play on 'medium.'
I know, we suck and that's really slacker-ish, but I don't see us taking it as seriously as it was probably originally envisioned by HMX. The existing cap on fans might eventually stop the casual-gaming fun with my girlfriend when we play this game... And playing 'Wanted Dead or Alive' over and over again is not helping the cause!
...The relation of these two things: We could go to other levels if we could skate by songs that are difficult on say, drums, by switching one of us to vocals or something we can maybe do better at. Finding the best combination of how to beat a song on medium/hard.
So, like the amazingly-named "Hungry Samurai" aptly stated earlier, the band-leader/instrument played issue might hold the key to dealing with the fan cap as well.
I know HMX has created a very balanced system, one that keeps a lot of 'gaming balance' and 'playability' in high regard - it's part of a developer's magic recipe to build something that we might think is too hard, proclaiming it "Impossible!" but with some practice, satisfyingly pass it a week later... but I also have to say "fuuuuuuuuhh** that!" We play casually and people come over to do the same, and I think a more "casual option" might be in order.
- I would suggest a 'F'n Party Mode' option, with an 'endless random songlist,' with the option to skip the song and pick another if no one wants to play what comes up. 'Shuffle' mode, I guess. But no menus or decisions, just random songs thrown at your partying friends playing Rock Band for 3 hours.
- DLC not randomly thrown in to BWT, or have the option to turn those songs off. I have avoided buying the 'Metallica' pack out of fear that I would have to play it in BWT mode. Other than 'Metallica,' I've bought all the packs. I'm hooked. I would have already bought that Metallica pack too if I hadn't heard horror stories about beginners battling 'Blackened,' and being beaten, beleaguered and belittled.
- I guess I'll toss a request in for some reggae, more punk. Essentially, The Clash's 'London Calling' and 'Combat Rock' should be full DLC albums. But an excellent dub reggae (more 60's/70's styles, like the Upsetters, Jimmy Cliff Trojan Records/'Rockers' soundtrack) DLC three-songer would be fun.
- PS3 chat
- Practice sesh. Different from the 'Practice Mode.' No band jumps on stage to play a song they've never played before - why do we have to risk precious fans to play Iron Maiden for the first time, at medium, no less?
- Practice mode should loop the selected section on time, not fade out, then fade back in totally off-beat from what you were just playing. Is it possible to set loop points so it's all one long groove while you practice a specific section?
- I feel that the drumming needs a free-form mess-around level, or some hyper-jazz mode where anything you hit, as long as it's on time is OK. This could even be like an option to encode your own music the way Harmonix does on their iPod game 'Phase.' Maybe even just charge me $10 for a downloadable Rock Band plug-in/expansion version of 'Phase,' so I can just get silly with some rhythm-game action. The only time you get to do that is in the opening bars of a song, otherwise, you just get a rimshot noise, not an awesome crash cymbal or a tom. And those opening bars are the most fun I have sometimes!
- First 'player selection' option should not be 'Create New,' maybe the last selected character would just be remembered by the game.
This is a great platform. I hope it just keeps growing, with more DLC to the point where we see entire genres fleshed out, like a huge karaoke book - lots for everyone to love or avoid.
If you made it this far through my post, thanks... I get a little long-winded.

I think I have a solution to the BWT Fan Cap debate...
Let's offer a seperate mode altogether. Call it "Party World Tour" or whatever. Do not have it count towards the existing BWT achievements in any way, shape or form, nor would this have any bearing on the leaderboards. Give the mode it's own achievement set, if you like, but this would hardly be necessary IMO. But this mode will have no fan caps, and all venues will be potentially available regardless of difficulty.
It's the simplest solution I could think of; it lets the hardcore have their rewards and achievements unspoiled by reducing any of the game's set difficulties, and it lets the casuals have a mode where they can keep plugging forward on all cylinders regardless of their skill levels. This also creates a mode where we can possibly make use of any downloadable venues (if anything like that ever happens) in the BWT format without throwing a huge wrench into BWT's programming. There's likely some problem with the idea I'm not seeing here, so feel free to pick this apart.
Oh, and put me down for DLC that aren't songs, IE clothing, instruments, haircuts, venues, etc. If we're not going to get a sequel, then definately give us these additional means of keeping the existing game fresh and varried.

My one major thing that I see lacking is that the singer cannnot be heard in multiplayer games. I do understand the dynamics of VoIP, so I DO realize this is a very tough thing to do since the way you're making lag look non-existent seems to be staggering gameplay and streaming data between all 4 games. BUT I do hope you can figure out some way to add in the VoIP voice...even if it is temporarily buffering it so that each person can hear it if they chose to hear the singer. Online, the singer really doesn't contribute THAT much, and it's an essential part to melding the band together....please at least consider looking into this and figuring out how to make it possible. Thanks.

You know, one option would be to have the vocal track cut in and out when the singer does poorly, just like the rest of the instruments do.
Also, I vote for video support. How cool would it be to have eachother's cameras displayed on screen somehow. Maybe as an available option, one could replace the background (the characters on stage) with the video feed. That would definitely add to the multiplayer experience and feel more like you're rocking together instead of with someone who you're so disconnected from, they could just be a NPC.

That's actually not a bad idea. A fair solution to the BWT complaints. That way I get to keep playing it the way I enjoy, but I could see people like my wife enjoying the other mode.
I suggested earlier that clothing, haircuts, accessories, etc should come with music packs. Nothing special, maybe just one item. Such as bleached semi-long hair and/or a stubble-beard with Nirvana, maybe Flea's stuffed animal pants with a RHCP pack, and so on. But separate clothing/accessory packs would be cool too.

The only thing I can really complain about is maybe a few more songs that I don't have to buy and a mode where I can watch my preformance after I played without having the notes in the way. Now that would be cool.

I was hoping that we could make a band online. But just searching for people online you run into people who only play on easy. And select songs you hate to play (I sing) All I would want to add would be an option to create a band online, instead of just having it be local players.

probably been said a thousand times already, but my wife demands MORE FEMALE-SINGER SONGS!
She likes all the man songs but she's bummed there aren't more female songs. I am too as she's the best singer in the entire group that comes over to play.
More please! Thank you!

If it's possible (and I'm not entirely sure that it is), I'd like to see new gigs in BWT based on the DLC packs. You could patch it into a new city if you didn't want to screw with the "Big in" achievements. Same with the full album downloads.
Example Gigs:
"The Metallica Pack"
"The Punk Pack"
"Who's Next"
"Nevermind"

Now that I've read the entire thread, here's my list of requested changes/additions (most of them already stated):
1. Fan cap removal or reworking.
2. As suggested a few pages back, once you finish the last gig in a city, allow for a pure custom setlist of any number of tracks in that city. Like others mentioned, I'd love to play through an entire album DLC in one set, but there isn't a custom setlist gig long enough.
3. Clothing, hairstyle, body type, and attitude DLC. I also like the idea mentioned of having some of this tied to a song pack - like a Grunge character pack with the Nirvana album DLC.
4. Ability to pick your own NPC band members in BWT. Or at least the ability to choose a style for the band, so you don't get Gwar members in your all girl punk band for example.
5. In-game link to the DLC.
6. And I'd like to add my vote to the "No Rock Band 2" club. Either this or make RB2 compatible w/ RB DLC. Personally though, I hope you go the route of Pop Tour or Hip Hop Band - that way a new complete experience will be available (vocals, keyboard, drums, guitar/bass depending on song) and Rock Band can keep going via DLC.
Thanks Harmonix for this awesome software - doesn't even feel right to call it a game anymore. Hope to see some of these implemented.

My band thought it would be cool if there was a recording/replay option that let you watch the show you just performed without the hud and instruments in the way on the screen. We don't really get to look at the cool action since we're focusing on the notes.

If it ever comes it would be cool to have the entire songlist from RB in RB2 (from the original 58 to DLC)

After reading 15 pages of this, I have more than my two cents.
First of all, as a bassist (yes in real life too, both upright and electric) I feel that me and my bassist brethren got the shaft in this. I will agree that the bassist is rarely ever in the spotlight, but it's a well kept secret that the bassist owns the band. He provides the rhythm and the root of the chords. The whole groove rests on his shoulders. His job is to take two completely different instruments (drum and guitar) and bridge the gap between them. And what makes bass extremely fun (the reason I choose to play it, rather than guitar) is the interaction. Have you ever sat around with a bassist and his drummer? They constantly rib each other, all in fun. That carries over to the stage. So I say yes to solo bass. Harmonix, fix this, yesterday, no three weeks ago.
Second. I don't know about the rest of the community, but as for me, my life is not video games. I work 40+ hours a week (graveyard shift), and on top of that, I write my own music and record it. Then I play games. I WANT SOLO BWT! Why should I get left out of the best feature of the game?
Third, and this may piss some people off, but I would like a better drum design. The way you have your drums set up now is Red=snare, Yellow=hi-hat, Blue=tom, and Green=crash cymbal. Fine. However put the Yellow pad on the other side of the red pad, and move the red pad down to where it's between my legs like and actual snare. I get confused with the positioning of it now. And when I'm playing I naturally want to cross my arms like I do in real life.
Also, please let us know how we can submit our own original songs to be included in your overall great game.

Performance Mode. I really don't see why that isn't in here. They took out Hyperspeed for "realism", why not include Performance Mode, which is the closest thing to genuity this game could get?
Though I'd like Hyperspeed too. It gets rather confusing in drum parts where the notes are so close together that you think you're supposed to hit them at the same time, but you're not.

A lot of these suggestions are really great, and I'm especially supportive of the DLC that isn't new songs idea, though if we absolutely have to pay for it (Free is always nice ;D), don't make it too expensive like most other companies do with their DLC. I think no more then 300-400 MS Points (What's that equate to over at PSN?) would be reasonable, if the Virtua Fighter 5 Accessory Packs are anything to go by.
Also, to REICHLEIN up above, I wholeheartedly agree. I'm a sound technician for a local band, and a lot of times during a jam session it all hinges on her to throw down a good bass riff, while everyone else in the band follows suit. Sure, the singer's the brain of the band, the guitarist is the face of the band, and the drummer is the attitude of the band, but the bassist is the backbone of the band, ya know?
Also, I'll join the No Rock Band 2 club as well. You've guys managed to make a rare game that actually works best as a platform and not a franchise...you could honestly support this game in the future on DLC and patches alone, which would probably be the best idea...though if you DO make a Rock Band 2, PLEASE allow RB1 DLC to be played in RB2. One of the biggest problems I had with when GH3 came out was that all that money I spent on GH2 content went to waste as soon as that game came out.
Oh, and on another note, since I realize I'm getting long-winded here, I'd like to cast my vote towards the other points issued, like picking your own NPCs, song manager in BWT, etc. etc...

What up peeps, Tiffany here from The Hairy Peckers.
I have seen it posted/requested to have the ability to record the songs you play. This is absolutely the number one option I want! My characters is awesome and we rock so hard that we never get to see ourselves perform:mad:. It would be awesome to be able to record the song as YOU played it and SUNG it and play it back and listen to your self play your favorite song. We really need this Harmonix, listen up guys and thanks for the best, most dynamic game EVER invented.

The fan cap is my most hated thing in this game. im the only one of my friends and family that can play on expert and only one is getting close to playing it on expert.
Also the ability for the leader to change instruments. im stuck playing drums all the time cause im the leader and i don't want to make a whole new band to change to guitar.
The ability to make the another band member would rock as well. i usually hate every other member in the band lol.
other than that good job with the game and i look forward to the continuing success

Howdy yall, Tiffany here from The Hairy Peckers.
I kinda like the fan cap, makes you move up and forces you to get better. We got capped recently, although I have to admit it was annoying to 5 star a whole 4 song set and get no fans! But it made us move up to hard, it's hard to jump up a level but you get used to it and then you are rockin' on a whole new level (literally as well as figuratively).
Keep Rockin' yall!!!!

This may sound lame to many of you...
I would like the ability for some kind of a cheat or toggle, that would allow auto kick drum (like the demo). Yeah sure it's kind of cheating but there are many cases where this would come in handy:
The kick pedal will break, it's cheap plastic, and what then?
Sometimes you just want to bang on the drums to get out some agression/not concerned with "High Scores"
Handicapped players who have trouble using their legs but do well hitting pads with their arms.
If you're not a drummer, then your leg gets tired real quick!
Just a though, great game, good fun!

This has probably already been mentioned, but just say it's mentioned again, pretty much everyone who has RockBand on 360 wants BWT to go online. I saw an interview where Dan Teasdale said:
"IGN: Why isn't there any online play in BWT?
Teasdale: Rock Band features several local and online modes from its deep solo adventure to its expansive full band experience. We want to make sure that the online experience with Band World Tour is perfect and bug-free, and as in-depth and fun as the other modes. In order to do that we'll be bringing online Band World Tour to you at a later date."
Any HMX guys wanna give an update?

Instrument switching without character switching. I find it a bit unrealistic that no one thought of this during development, but if the characters were programmed in such a way as to make going back and adding it a massive, delay-inducing job, I can sort of understand. It still needs a patch.
New playlists in BWT: For example, I've downloaded the Queens pack, and it would be really cool if there were an extra gig in New York or something that required me to play all four QotSA songs in a row. This isn't a big deal yet, but it'll be huge after albums come out.
Bass tour could be nice, but I wouldn't use it much. No fan caps and drum practice mode (so I don't have to plug my drums into the PC and keep restarting DrumIt) would rock.
Band Practice mode. To help out that special-needs family member (not really, but it's hard to tell) or inebriated buddy. Even a no-fail vocals on top of regular band quickplay for everything else would be great.
Also, a working strum bar. I'm going to guess that Redoctane patented the GH strum, so you're like microsoft or sega trying to find some other way to make a D-Pad after Nintendo created the perfect implementation (boned to the point of looking incompetent). Still, I'd expect you to be able to make something a little more reliable. Everything else about the Strat is beautiful, I just don't trust the strum.

I want the fan cap to go away (I can't possibly play drums on expert!). Also, a way to turn off certain songs. I can't tell you how annoying it is to get both "Won't Get Fooled Again", "Foreplay/Longtime" and "Next To You" in row on the Mystery Setlist.

Thanks, keep'em coming. As a small note: scope is a large factor when determining what we can, and what we want, to patch. That being said, I would love to keep an ongoing tally of what changes the forum community would like to see go into the game itself.
How about that promised Online Band World Tour? update or just plain RockBand 2? or a wireless mic, and that wirless guitar for threesixty(i know, patience)but most of all OBWT would be the most awesomest update ever :D

Adding my wishes in for a Solo/Online World Tour. I took it over to my friends this weekend, but it takes me almost half an hour to pack up my 360, the drums, all the guitars and then to try and carry it all requires 2 bags, plus a way to carry the drum pads/guitars that don't collapse. Simply put, it's a huge pain in the ass. :(
Don't get me wrong I LOVE playing with friends, but its simply not always an option, too many of them have lives.. and well.. right now I don't. *lol* So the ability to play World Tour Solo or at the VERY least online with others would help a lot as I feel I'll keep missing out on this part of the game except the rare times every month I can convince enough people to come over. So having my own little band with my own made band mates would be nice (as I hate when I get random changes to the singer or whoever in solo mode and I get grizzly adams looking WAY out of place in my band and annoying me).
Second thing I'd also like is at least some kind of change to the fan cap. At least if you have multiple people playing at multiple levels, it should even out somehow. As it is if two are playing expert, a third hard, and the last person on easy, you shouldn't be STUCK on easy, it should at LEAST average out to medium or hard somehow.
Minor agreement to some other issues, in that they'd be nice things I want to see, but I'm not really going to whine about them after this, just mention them here.
- Bass Solo.. would be nice..but not holding my breath.
- Enabling/Disabling certain songs. I can see why they don't want to do this, but well, if you get a Manager in World Tour and/or a player has already BEATEN the game technically... with all the Download Content coming, I don't see this as such a bad idea.
- Lastly, being able to change instruments between characters mid tour.. while it'd be nice, again it won't really break me. Just another reason to start up another band I figure. :)

I don't believe this was mentioned except for a post about practice for drum fills but I would love a free form drum practice where we can assign drums to pads and then just go to town.
Like an open ended free form where we can set:
Red = Snare
Yellow = Hi-Hat
Blue = Tom
Green = Crash/Ride
Pedal = Kick Bass
Essentially it would just be a poor mans Electric drum kit, but all the stuff is there, might as well use it!
i agree. as a quick fix, why can't they just put up a free download of a 10 min "song" that is nothing but a big rock ending?
(dunno if this was already suggested since i'm too lazy to read through pages of stuff)
edit: and for different drum setups, you could have different downloads whatever.

13. Make the D-pad on the guitar controllers cycle the guitar effects menu while playing. This would allow all guitar controllers to utilize the guitar effects, not just those with an effects switch. The D-pad is currently not being used (OK, it's the strum I hear but every guitar controller has a dedicated strum button).

Heres the problem I found.
Create a band while NOT signed into Xbox Live, name it say ABC and play for a bit.
Later Sign on to Live and get the message that the "Band Name already exists, and will not be used on LIVE".
There currently is no way to change your band name from ABC to XYZ in this case, so that in order to change your band name, you have to start the World Tour all over again.
Please and some way to change a Band Name in the same way that you can change the name of your Character.

Ability to disable the "tamborine/cowbell" stuff on the vocals so one person could sing and play and instrument at the same time.
I think open string notes for the guitars would add a lot to the game. Where the strum bar is used but no fret button needs to be held down. It could be shown on the screen the same way that the bass pedal is shown.

People have been doing this since the game was available. The Tamborine/cowbell stuff is entirely optional. Skip it, or just vocalize it, or as hmxsean has mentioned for when he sings and plays guitar just tap the microphone stand with your foot.

I only really have 2 issues.
Fan Cap. I'm still on hard for drums and my brother plays guitar for fun on hard, and my mom sings on easy. So we'll never be able to do half the stuff the game allows us to and that's really bogus imo. It's probably meant to challenge people up to higher difficulties. But not everybody can, or wants to go on higher difficulties and it's no fair that we can't experience the game to those that play on Expert.
Online Band World Tour. I only have 3 people in my house that play, and 2 of them aren't as good as me, not to sound cocky, I just pick up on music games very well. For instance, I was playing Expert on Guitar Hero 1 within 2 days of playing it at Game Stop (5 hour days, but still.) I just want to be able to have a band online that can do the same things as local bands can do. You know, go through the venues, do everything you would be able to if you were in the same room.

I know its pretty late to get in this thread, but here is my top 3 christmas wants for RB. Instead of just giving a long laundry list, I've tried to boil it down to the ones that would really improve the gameplay.
a) Make the fan cap related to the BEST or 2nd BEST person in your band, not the worst person in your band. Like many have said, I don't want to incentivise kicking people out because they are beginners -- that isn't fun. This seems like a low-scope change that would reap big rewards.
b) Online BWT -- yes I know this is hard to do right, but it seems silly that both GH3 and RB botched up the online multiplayer bit (GH3 with no online co-op career and RB with no online BWT). I think you'd sell a lot more DLC if people had an option to play the "meat and potatoes" multiplayer part of the game with friends online.
c) Voice chat -- again going along with (b). The game is intended to be social -- limited voicechat support is a buzzkill here.

2 things i'd like to see..
1) i'd like to see a multiplayer browser, similar to what you would find with fps games only instead of searching for servers to play on, you search for players to play with, those players can flag themselves as 'available' or 'not available' for quick pickup play, and search and sort players by instrument, overall point ranking, style, overall earnings, etc.. maybe even some rooms to interface with the consoles voice capabilities (and add voice to ps3). ability to search for players by a sort-type, or by name, and add them as friends for playing with another time.
maybe even just exposing some of the guts of the already implemented 'automagic' player/band browser with the above abilities could become useful.
2) bass option on the solo tour

This thread has been going on a while, could we maybe get a response from HMX? Like whether or not certain things are possible so if they can't happen we won't keep asking for them like:
Solo and Online BWT
Solo Bass Tour
Customizing band NPCs
PS 3 Voice Chat
Fan Cap Adjustment
Money for Accounts not Characters
One character, multiple instruments
No Band Leader, or changable (like if the BL leaves, it defaults to the next person logged in)
Now that I've reiterated the most common suggestions I'll depart.
Where are you Harmonix?!

im sure this has been discussed countless times in this thread already but i just want to throw another hat into the ring of "the fan cap is horrible" because it really is. i only recently got into the deeper ranges of the band mode, desperately trying to unlock for the first "final stage" for a location to no avail.
how can the game FORCE you and your bandmates to play on hard or expert? that is absolutely absurd. some of my friends can barely complete songs on medium and you expect me to find someone who can play on hard/expert with me? I can't even say I am *that* great at HARD but I can usually make it through a song, but that isn't going to get me anywhere when the only way I can get fans to beat these silly stages is playing on Hard/Expert.
as far as I'm concerned this is a glitch. fix it. it ruins the game because theres no way casual gamers can actually complete it in any realistic fashion.
with that said I would also love to see the ability to change the LEADER of a band, as well as a BASS single player tour, and.. yes... the ability to play BWT over XBL would be very nice indeed since right now the only point in playing on XBL with a band is essentially just to practice.. lame.
fix the game up, the instruments breaking is bad enough now im finding out the game has this insane flaw which makes it unplayable with friends. yikes...

This game has made my house the "party" spot all of the sudden, lol. Thats awesome but my neighbors probably all hate me now! Anyways, a couple of things i would suggest are mainly in support of bringing in new players or non-gamers easier:
No Pedals on easy drums, it makes sense to me, the guitar difficulties break you in easy but drums throws you out there. Everyone wants to try the drums but after causing the band to fail a song 3-4, it scares everyone off!
Again, addressing difficutly, I think there is room for something between medium and hard on guitar, for instance. Those that are musically inclined or have played GH before, medium is fairly straightforward, in fact, kind of boring on the easier songs BUT making the jump to hard goes faster and adds that orange button. I think the in between would be faster but without the orange fret.
I would love it if the whole band thing expanded. I would love to use my band pics as 360 gamer pics or themes.
The whole sign in profiles and then picking characters and jumping between menus wastes a lot of time, it needs to be more straightforward.
I would love to see more info from the menu, maybe adding top daily scores, or top achievers, kind of like the madden sports ticker.
I would also like to get a preview of the DLC ala GH2, sometimes I like a song but dont know the name or the artist so I am really hesitant to buy sometimes. This would help DLC sales!!
Finally, I agree with BWT online, fan caps=no fun, band leader switching or changing instruments w/characters, strum bar suckage, and something involving pics or video ala Halo 3.
Thanks, this game is awesome, though I hope it continues to be supported instead of forcing me to buy Rock Band 2 in 6 months to solve some issues!!

The only thing that really irks me is the lack of a hyperspeed option. Every other music game on the planet has one, and most of them allow for separate options for each player! It's a standard modifier based on your scroll speed preference. Some of the guitar charts are damn impossible to read because they're so squished together. GG&HT and Blackened specifically.

I couldn't agree more! My wife is ripping through drums on hard and I'm holding back the band because of my mediocre guitar skills! I can do most of the vocals on expert but I already do that in a real band. I like playing the guitar a lot more. (cant play a real guitar) I guess I'll need to practice more, because this is the most fun I've ever had playing a video game.

I would like to see leaderboards for each difficulty level. Also, a way to list your top scores on the boards, etc. It's a pain in the butt to select each song to see where you are. An overall listing of "your" ranks would be cool.

Here's my argument about why band members shouldn't be tied to instruments:
It makes the customization useless.
See, me and my friends make personalized characters that fit our tastes and kinda look like us. We also like every instrument. So we either have to make four identical characters with different names and four different bands with four different World Tours, or just switch between our characters and lose the associated and personal scoring and look. Which is awful.
I realize the realism associated with keeping character and instrument tied together, but it is NOT FUN AT ALL, and ruins the band aspect, and I would really appreciate it if you would let us choose for ourselves.
Brilliant stuff otherwise, of course, but this is kind of ruining the awesomeness, so I can't wait until you fix it... thanks!

One problem with the leaderboards is that Band Quickplay scores won't be uploaded to the Leaderboards, because I guess the main issue is there would be no band name to assign the score to. And since there is no Local Leaderboard (something which is needed), Band Quickplay scores aren't recorded anywhere. For example, 4 of us did Won't Get Fooled Again on Band Quickplay, and we got 1,200,000 something, which would have been good enough for top 15 on the Leaderboards, but since we did Quickplay, we didn't get an entry...
The problem is that the only way to try to get high scores to put on the Leaderboards is through Band World Tour. This is a problem because:
1) Its hard to find individual songs in BWT.
2) Some songs require fixed level of difficulties.
3) The only way to play DLC and set scores for those is to play a Make A Setlist gig... Which means you'd have to play another song in addition.
One option I suppose would be to allow you to select a Band to play as when you play in Band Quickplay. This way, you would have Band name to put with that score.
ALSO, separate Solo Tour scores on the online leaderboards, like you do for separate Bands! Or else, we need a Local Leaderboard....
I realized a bit earlier today that not a lot of my favorite songs are available to download... and I thought... wouldn't it be nice if i could choose the songs?
If it's legal royalties-wise and such... I would pay a lot of money for a downloadable application that runs like a demo game you get from the PS store (or w/e they do on 360) that can analyze music on your hard drive and create patterns/steps (vocals might be out of the question, but a database of lyrics could solve that) and save them the same way you save downloaded songs.

I agree with you completely, and I have an extension of your complaint. I find it annoying that a band is assigned a leader when it is formed. You can't change who the leader is and it serves no function, other than to make it so some one has to play that instrument (or else you're not allowed to play). I think they should get rid of the band leader all together (or at least make it transferable). Which brings me to another thing... a lot of band information can't be edited. Both of these things could be fixed with a simple patch and I think it should be.

whud up rockers?! New to the forums. Got my RB bundle for the 360 on Christmas morning. Absolutley love the game.
Other than online band tour, i think HMX should consider having a PLAY FREE MODE or a RECORDING STUDIO MODE. Where you solo or with other bandmates can make and record your own music. And have the hard drive save your custom made tracks. Much like how halo 3 has forge and theater mode. I think HMX should have a recording studio mode. Then you can share your song online. Who knows, maybe a record lable will get a hold of your songs and want to give you a record deal. =]
I thought this would be a good idea cause i find myself making my own drum beats before the song kicks in.

It definitely is a great game... but I also would love to have BWT on Xbox live and also i really agree with the fan cap thing.... My girlfriend loves to play but she's at a medium level and only plays for fun So she wont sit there and play for hours on end to get better... she'd like to stay on medium... So if they could make it so that we can finish the BWT on medium. I really hope they do something about this Fan Cap thing because it seems like it would be an easy patch.....
Thanks for an awesome game!! Keep up the great work Harmonix!!

I figured I would throw out my votes.
#1) Remove fan cap. I am decent at medium, and can barely play past the first couple of songs on hard. I like playing the game with my buddy, but we are definately medium players.
#2) Make easy drums, EASY. Drop the foot pedal. For Medium, I would like to see the foot pedal as OPTIONAL, or removed, as well. Leave it like the guitars... hard and Expert get the 5th button. To give me what I would LOVE to see, would have a toggle for the foot pedal, so you can play medium with OR without it. Or, possibly leave hard for playing with the foot pedal. either one.
#3) Have the ability to remove DLC from random song sets. I also like the idea of being able to modify the song list, that can come up in random song sets.
#4) DON'T tie a band, to a band leader. Maybe an Xbox live acct, but allow any character on that account to be the band leader.
#5) Have the same character be able to play all instruments. So, you only need to customize him once. (though, instruments would be seperate, obviously).
--- Below here, are things that I would like... but have NO problem not seeing ---
#6) Choose your own NPC band mates, or better yet, DESIGN YOUR OWN. :-) I would say, create a stable of 1 male 1 female singer, 2 guitars and 1 drum. Then, whatever position isn't being played, those NPCs step in.
#7) Change the color of the multiplier, similiar to this (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showpost.php?p=196256&postcount=85).
#8) Minor issue, don't care THAT much, but the line up the left side, that shows how you are doing, in the song... it would be nice if that was moved to the middle. Even have it twice, once on each side of the drummer, if you have 2 guitars and drums going. I am almost always playing on the right, and it is kind of a pain to see it, in a fast song.
#9) When in overdrive, reduce the filgree pattern behind the fret board. There have been a few occasions that the background pattern has confused me.
Those are in the order I would like to see them, as well. I think the first two would DEFINATELY up the fun of the game.

I beg you on behalf of every Rock Band owner to make it so we can play Band World Tour with people online. It's ridiculous that we can't get all those BWT achievements unless we have people at our house that are actually good at Rock Band. I think this addition is would make the game incredible and unleash the full force of it.
But I don't think there should be a solo offline BWT because that would ruin the point of solo tour IMO.

I'd like to see an stand-alone USB bass pedal accessory to enable playing songs with double bass. It'd also be cool to bundle some more challenging drum songs with the extra bass pedal. That, or maybe just bundle some downloadable content geared toward users who own the extra pedal.
Thanks!

I agree with this post 100%. I was under the impression that the whole point behind Rock Band (as opposed to Guitar Hero) is that people can play different instruments, not just the guitar. I just think it's ridiculous that the band member restrictions make this impossible. Somewhere in the Harmonix offices is one person, a project manager or lead developer, who made this decision. This individual made a serious mistake.
There is one other thing I would like: the ability to select normal hair cuts for guys. Like most men, I have short hair. I want my avatar to look like me, not like some punk-goth freak.

I know all these have a probably been mentioned but they need to be done
In a future patch or fix I would like to see:
Changing a characters instruments - I hate you're stuck with what you first choose
Changing a characters weight and face type - see above
More accessories - I think a added eye contacts section would be cool
Added band art creation tools
BWT online - This may be tougher to add but is so needed
Enabled headset support when two or more people are online on the same box - It really sucks having a friend over and hit up online quick play and not be able to chat with the band mates we found
Double Bass - I've seen mods for this but it be nice to have a official one
Don't know if these two are possible but...
Better vocal support online - I know lag and compression are an issue but if anything can be done I've love to hear people sing.
Can't hear drum fills - I don't know if this is a lag issue too, if some one can please answer. When playing online I can't hear a band mates drum fills, I see their flashes but no sound. If this is the way it is let me know and why it's like this.

The only real thing I see the game needing, and needing rather badly, is for the minimum members of a band for BWT to be reduced from two to one. That way those of us who really don't have anyone to play with on a regular basis can still access the set list builder and venues of BWT. The “quick play” for solo doesn't let you use your character and the solo world tour is lacking venues and any way to manage the song list. I would think reducing the minimum number of band members to start playing in BWT would be the quickest and easiest way to fix it and make everyone happy.
Thank you for an awesome game. I am a 36 year old gamer who has not been this hooked on a game since college.

2 Features I would like to see:
1) A "karaoke" difficulty setting below easy where the game doesn't judge you. I have young (below 5) rock star wannabees that think they can play along. I don't mind letting them play except that they're not able to actually play and I don't want to fail the song just because I let them play. I guess if the practice mode was extended to be a band wide affair, that would do as well.
2) The ability to have both guitars play lead or bass if they like. For that matter, let me play with four guitars. It's my game, let me play it how I like.
I really like the drum fill practice idea. That's a really good idea.

I definetly need to vouch for the double-bass pedal hardware option. For those of us who aren't capable of doing quick one foot doubles, it'd even further enhance the experience. It can't be a difficult thing to make either. Maybe make the pedals a bit sturdier. Heavier plastic and rubber would be nice. Sometimes the pedal moves around. Maybe some kind of locking mechanism to put on the aluminum rods to which it connects.
This would be awesome for the metalheads in us!

If we're talking about a patch I'd love to see the Dolby Digital mix fixed. There's a lot of talk about lag in other threads. The game works perfectly in stereo on my system but as soon as I turn on Dolby Digital the mic has a huge delay and the drum solos are way off. I've tried it on two seperate surround systems too. Not only that, I'm surprised by the small amount of bass. I have to turn my bass (12" polk audio) almost to max to get any sort of thump with the kick drum. I forgot to turn it down yesterday and started a movie, almost shook the house off the foundation.
Besides the poor bass (even with bass boost checked) I love the way the music and cheers fill the room with DD on, so I hope that could be patched cause it's pretty much unplayable right now with it on.
Other than that:
It would be great to keep my character for whatever instrument I'm playing. Even more so I'd love to create all my band members for the solo tour instead of always having random weird one's. Having a huge ogor with face paint and spikes on his shoulders singing Weezer was funny at first but now it just looks wrong. Seems everyone wants this one as well.
I like the Band leader idea but it should be tied to a created player, not an instrument. But this is another one I doubt could be patched. Out of curiosity, has any Harmonix developer given a reason to why the band leader was implemented? I'm sure there's a good one I just can't think of it.
I think the best option where fan caps are concerned would be to add a cheat to disable them, cause personally I think it's good incentive to get better.
Dagware had a great idea on another thread to use the mic to sync up audio/video for calibration issues. May be a bit much for a patch but definitely a plausible idea I would assume.
On the hardware side I'd love to see Harmonix release a specific mic stand for the game at a decent price. Something that's more practical but functional for the living room (that can store away easier) than a typical mic stand. And also a mic holder that could in some way attach to the drum kit for those drummers/singers out there would be awesome.
And of course, the number one thing I'd love to see is a drum fills practice session. I was really surprised to see this wasn't it in the game to begin with.
I hope this is possible to fix cause I would really love to just wail away and figure out solos on my own.
That's about it, I think. I'd love to see the Harmonix guys on here a little more to give some direction as to what could and couldn't be patched on the existing game as well.

I would like to see one thing *NEVER* show up in Rock Band.
I played Guitar Hero. Loved it. Played Guitar Hero II. Loved it, and I loved the improvements on the hammer on/pull off timing.
Then I played Guitar Hero III. Something felt a bit off. I go and play a song on Expert.
I was missing every note. Now, I am not a guy who can play something like Jordan on Expert and complete it, but I am a fairly competent player. I was missing every single note.
At first I thought the guitar was defective, but when I consulted the owner of the game about it he had stated that the timing for Guitar Hero III had gotten much, much tighter. I had to learn how to hit the notes a bit earlier, and this rendered a lot of my previous experience useless. Now I might be thrown off when I play GH and GH2.
(Note that I largely chalk up this decision to Neversoft making GH3 and not Harmonix.)
If you ever make a Rock Band 2 or change the timing of anything in a patch for Rock Band, for the love of Miyamoto please do not make the timing tighter. Don't change it. It really, really hurts the "pick it up and play" ability of sequels.
i agree. i find it harder to time notes for the guitar on hard cus its extremely slow. that and the drum "fretboard" n the notes can be made a bit smaller. i have a small t.v. n its already huge.
Since I've only read the first few and last few pages I don't know if this has been mentioned but I'd really love to be able to choose the section I want to practice on vocals, you can do this with every instrument but vocals which I find odd. Seems like It wouldn't be that hard just put up a list of each phrase.

I'd like to see Effects Switch turning on in Bass Groove like it does in the guitar solo sections. I'm sorry, but I just absolutely love the sound of the wah-wah effect on bass tracks.
I was also thinking about solo buttons during Bass Groove, but because bassists usually have a ton of notes in a row, it wouldn't work so well unless you strum them all, which defeats the purpose of it.

Oh, I would like to add something.
First, to the OP - I noted that you have taken the most common suggestions and listed them. There are quite a few good ones that you are missing, and there are some really good suggestions only made by one or two people that ought to be on that list. Perhaps seperate it into "Suggested by many people" and "Suggested by a few people, but a really good idea"? Use your judgement.
I have been through only 4 pages of this thread, so if this was already posted please forgive me for doing it. This would be a good solution to the difficulty and fans problem.
Let's say you have a band of three people and a friend comes along to play on Bass. Your three core people rock hard and can play on Expert, but the new guy can only play on Easy. In Band World Tour, this means no new fans.
Rather than doing this, why not average out the difficulty levels?
Difficulties can be assigned a number, from 1-4 (behind the scenes, it doesn't have to be visible on screen):
Easy: 1
Medium: 2
Hard: 3
Expert: 4
Now, in the previous situation, we have three Experts and one Easy. The calculation would be:
D / B = T
Combined Difficulty divided by Band Members equals Total Difficulty
Here are some examples:
Vocalist: Expert (4)
Guitar: Expert (4)
Bass: Easy (1)
Drums:Expert (4)
4 + 4 + 4 + 1 = 13
13 / 4 = 3.25 (rounded down to 3)
Total Difficulty Level for band: Hard (3)
Vocalist: Medium (2)
Guitar: Medium (2)
Bass: Medium (2)
Drums: Medium (2)
2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8
8 / 4 = 2
Total Difficulty Level for band: Medium (2)
Vocalist: Easy (1)
Guitar: Easy (1)
Bass: Easy (1)
Drums: Expert (4)
1 + 1 + 1 + 4 = 7
7 / 4 = 1.75 (rounded down to 1)
Total Difficulty Level for band: Easy (1)
Vocalist: Easy (1)
Guitar: Easy (1)
Bass: Medium (2)
Drums: Expert (4)
1 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 8
8 / 4 = 2
Total Difficulty Level for band: Medium (2)
Vocalist: Easy (1)
Guitar: Medium (2)
Bass: Hard (3)
Drums: Expert (4)
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10
10 / 4 = 2.5 (rounded down to 2)
Total Difficulty Level for band: Medium (2)
This would mean that if you have one lower level player in your all-Expert band, you are still going to qualify at Hard. Mixing it up, depending on the various difficulty levels, all depends on the numbers.
It is up to Harmonix as to how forgiving they want this system to be. Choosing whether the calculation rounds up or down will determine how forgiving this is. Note this example:
Vocalist: Easy (1)
Guitar: Easy (1)
Bass: Easy (1)
Drums: Expert (4)
1 + 1 + 1 + 4 = 7
7 / 4 = 1.75 (rounded down to 1 / rounded up to 2)
Total Difficulty Level for band: Easy (1) / Medium (2)
In this setup, if they choose to round down, then the one Expert player brought in will have no affect on their band.
However, if they choose to round up, then the one Expert player brought in will raise the band's level to Medium.
If you have only, say, 2 people playing, then the division number would change. If you have an Expert (4) and a Medium (2) playing, then the band's average difficulty would come out to (4 + 2) / 2 = 3 (Hard).
This is probably the simplest and most fair way to handle the Fans & Difficulty issue as it averages out the skill of everyone who is playing. And again, it could all be done behind the scenes. All that would have to be added in the UI is something on the difficulty screen (when people are choosing what difficulty to play the songs) that shows the averaged difficulty level of your band.

I really like the idea of bass groove being a "portable solo section" for guitar effects and solo buttons. And you wouldn't always have to restrum with solo buttons as you could finger tap the strings for each note which is getting darn close to recreating the play style called "slap base."

I dont want to see Rock Band 2 unless our players in music videos dynamically created are involved. I dont expect to see RB2 for 10 years at least.

don't feel like read all these pages so.....forgive me if my request is here.
I wish the select band/match setup sceen was more robust. Like add Manage Friends for that screen.
And when on invite friend list screen, it tells you who is playing rockband.

i think they need to put bwt online or work harder at gettin it cuz me and my friend wanna play it that way so he dont have to live at my house or me live there LOL (JK ABOUT THE LIVING THING but bwt is the funnest thing in the game and al my other friends suck at the game) alot more ppl would buy RB if it was online and you could beat it that way SO PLZ DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT
and what you should do with all the ideas ppl ask to be put on RB you should get them all together and make a poll so you dont have to read 1 full page for every answer (it makes it alot more eZ on you guys to do it that way but thats up to you)
and i think they should put some Dire Straits, Dokken - In My Dreams,Don McLean - American Pie, THE eagles, Eric Clapton, John Cougar Mellencamp
I KNO LIKE 100000 ppl that would download every song OR band/person on that list i would kill for just about any old song IT DONT EVEN HAVE TO BE HARD JUST SOMETHING FUN FOR ME AND MY FRIENDS TO PLAY and jam too lol
THANX FOR READING all that and i hope it helps

Okay, 2 more ideas:
Using Energy together isn't really any more beneficial than using it sequentially. I mean, if all 4 members use it, it's a one time (1x) 8x for a total of 8x. If all four use it sequentially, it's a four time (4x) 2x for a total of 8x. So, shouldn't the game reward you more. Like a 5x (instead of 4x) when two people use energy, 8x instead of 6x and 12x instead of 8x. Or something.
The closet should let you build "outfits." Then your character can appear in random outfits during gigs as opposed to the same one every time until you go change it. I know that might sound a little metro but... um... it's for my girlfriend... no, WIFE, yeah, that's it... I'm married... With kids.

1. Incorrect. The game awards points based on note-worth TIMES individual multiplier TIMES band multiplier so using Overdrive at the same time had a significant effect on your score.
2. Agree.

Please add the ability to create an online band and have it track your scores when you play together online. IMO, this site is useless without this feature, this site doesn't offer anything that isn't available in game, big dissappointment.

Oh really? See, I didn't know that. I didn't think there was an individual boost for overdrive, I thought it was just a team multiplier.

I really want to be able to create a band online with my friends on xbox live. I'm sure the same goes for those playing on the PS3 and PSN(playstation network)
It would be nice to make a band or join a friends band online. That is what i thought the game was about. Unfortunately it seems i was wrong in my assumption.

Right now, I have to create him again every single time and, when it's not on my PS3 or even ON my own PS3 but in another profile, I have to create him and deal with crappy clothes, all the time to remake my tattoos. . . It's just a pain, and it seems like it would be an easy thing to add to the Data Management screen so people can take their characters with them on a flash drive or something.
this is the biggest problem i have with the game so far. character portability. even with the one ps3. i created characters on my profile, then my roommate created characters on his profile. we cant add characters from each profile to create a band. its really annoying, especially since ive been told you can do that on the xbox360 version.

Yeah i would also like to take off the fan cap cause when my friend who barely ts to comeover and plays on easy, i have to kick em off , Also Your Rng likes metallica because there awesome, i also think rngs show a favor to downloaded songs.

The trick I found to not getting hard songs all the time on BWT is to unlock all the songs via the solo tour before playing BWT, this will give you a bigger mix of songs to select from for mystery sets and you will get more easy/medium tier songs.
As far as the cap, you can beat BWT on Medium, trust me you will eventually be good enough to play on medium, don't be in such a rush to beat the game. :p

I'd like to suggest a way to fix the accidental pauses that can occur while playing. Whether the problem is someone accidentally hitting the pause button or somebody hitting the x-box guide button, there can be a few simple solutions. A few solutions that I can come up with are this:
1) An option that disables the start button and the guide button (for the drums at least) during songs.
2) An option in the pause menu to rewind the song's track 1-4 bars so that the players will have a chance to sync rhythms before continuing where they left off.
3) Have the peripherals send out an electric shock every time one of those buttons are pushed. They will learn quickly for their accidents.

OK I'll mention all the obvious stuff just cause:
- allow a character to play more than 1 instrument
- online BWT
- leader shouldn't be locked to a band
But more than any of that, I want the ability to transfer a character from 1 PS3 to another. I want to be able to copy my character to a USB stick, go over to my friends place, and play with my character in his band. Or better yet, have the ability to copy my band onto a memory stick, bring that over to his place, and have him play with his characters in my band. Considering that rock band is primarily a group game, this seems like an obvious feature to have to encourage group play (instead of making us make new characters every time we go to somebody else's house).

15. The number of times that not-getting-what-guitar/bass-part you want in the "flip a coin" mechanic when two people online want the same part should be tracked for the duration of the session. The greater the difference between these numbers for each online player, the more likely that the game "flip a coin" mechanic will favor the player who has not gotten his desired part more.

One feature you guys NEED to add is the ablity to calibrate the motion tilt sensor in the guitar. It keeps going off when i dont wanty it to, and it wont go off when i do want to use overdrive. I have to press select. Even if its a problem in the guitar hardware, is it that hard to make a calibration screen of the position of where it goes off and where it wont. Its very disapouinting i cant rely on using the tilt to activate overdrive, as i usually have to think about where my hand placement is to press the select button, and i end up missing a note breaking my combo. Im on the Ps3 verison btw.

the one big thing i see missing is the fact that if you want to do world tour you have to have a house hold of people in your house that just happen to know how to play rock band then conieve them into playing world tour with you. like my buddies just want to hang out and play rock band all day. i would like to see the ability to be able to pick up online band members or pick band members and play world tour over xbox live. i just cant see why we would have left this out since most of the game is centered around world tour. so for now im stuck playing solo career in guitar then drums then solo singer then after that what, online pickup matches just dont see the fun. sorry im just disappointed that it was left out. would love the chance to pick online buddies that have the game and play world tour with them. so for now im stuck playing world tour with my 11 year old and my nine year old. see my frustration.

1. Bass solo career. On an earlier page someone suggested "open strumming" or something - plucking with no frets, possibly using the bass drum art. That'd be really, really neat, and make it a bit more immersive. I personally already find bass a lot more enjoyable using only up-strums.
2. Multi-talented characters. I have three different people to accomodate all instruments, but only my guitarist is decked out as I've only finished his career. It'd be nice to merge them (but still use my vocalist's name, as I wasn't thinking when I named my guitarist...)
3. Fan cap. Don't remove it. Soften it somehow. No, I don't have a suggestion, sorry. :(
4. Rock Band 2. Please don't do this, or at least wait a long time. DLC I am more than happy to buy!
5. DLC accessible (for purchase) from ingame.
6. A way to change band leader. Only really necessary if you don't let my guitarist play drums/sing, so that I can switch roles occasionally.
7. I LOVED the earlier suggestion to color-code multipliers on the bottom (as opposed to black black black white).
8. Drum solo practice section would be really neat.
9. "Karaoke" (penalty-less vocals in band) mode would be cool.
10. Band practice mode would be cool.
11. Letting me pick my rocker in solo quick play would be AWESOME.
12. Letting me choose which (or fully customize) NPC rockers I end up with would be great.
Thanks for the awesome game, I love you guys.

i'd like a mode added to where I can just play freely whatever i want....make my own songs. maybe it could save your songs you want to save too so your not just playing songs by bands already out there. Then they could have it setup where people could upload their own songs and they can pick out ones too add for DLC as well. Though the people making the songs should get some kinda game credits or points every time their song is bought off the DLC..could credit them like 50 MS points each download. that would be cool.

I'd like to see the lag on the PS3 versions microphone input decreased. As it stands right now, singing is nearly impossible on hard and expert unless you can sing every word and every pitch change about half a second early.
Also, Online BWT would be nice.

Here's one I just ran into. XBox 360.
You can only have 8 characters per instrument!
And yet, I've got a hard drive with 10GB free. (And no, I don't want to do the stupid multiple Xbox profiles crap. One profile has everything.)

16. The ability to switch around where the 3 vertical note charts are on the screen to match your physical position in the room in the pause menu.
17. Ability to alter the bass, guitar, drum, crowd, etc sound levels in the pause menu (or even better using the vocalist's controller).

Hi everyone,
I have some ideas to improve Rock Band. Nothing major, but small things that could maybe be added in a patch.
*Solo Tour*
- Add a quick filter option for bonus and downloaded songs(Like Guitar Hero 3). I don't want to scroll all the way down to get to those songs.
- Add create your own setlist in the Solo Tour.
*Mulitplayer*
- In Tug of War or online play set the default character to be the last one used, not some random one that one must changed back to their character for a new match.
- Add Tug of War Leaderboards to the website.
That's what I have on my mind at the moment.
