Please Explain Music Elitism

I really do not understand this compulsive need of people here to immediately bash anything mainstream, or to immediately assume a fan of a band is a troll.

I will be the first to say that I dislike Linkin Park, Nickelback, F.O.B., M.C.R., etc., but I don't call their fans morons and trolls for their opinions.

I also don't understand people who listen to music about which no one has heard anything because they think it makes them "cool".

Please explain to me your side of this story.

Musical ignorance leads to musc elitism. When you see an MCR fan call MCR "punk or alternative", it makes a person who is a fan of real punk and alternative mad or annoyed.

Now since you are talking about regs in HoR, you are probalby referring to the recent flaming of ImHotterThanYou. There is nothing wrong with liking a popular band, but when you go around parading around saying *insert band here* is teh best evar" and claiming that you have the best music taste ever then you are3 bound to have people with conflicting opinions.

if you truly think you have the best taste then you will never branch out to continue looking for new stuff to listen to, because your taste is perfect as is, no need to try to improve yourself then

Conflicting opinions are fine, but insulting others because they like a band you don't is not fine. I'm all for rational discussions and passionate debate, but "talks" of this kind usually just end up with people flaming each other.
