It just got confirmed.
And there was much rejoicing.
...yay...
Yesterday it was reported that Justin Timberlake was in contention to play The Green Lantern. JT had shot a screen test for the film, as had the other three contenders Bradley Cooper, Jared Leto, and Ryan Reynolds. But at the end of the day on Friday, Reynolds was chosen over the other finalists to play the role of Hal Jordan aka The Green Lantern.
The Hollywood Reporter adds that the deal isn’t yet finalized, but Reynolds in the final choice (they just need to agree on money and specifics). The studio “had holding options on the three actors, but, except for Reynolds, those expired Monday. Reynolds’ option would have expired end of day Friday.” Producer Donald De Line, director Martin Campbell and the studio each had different favorites which made it difficult to agree on any one choice.

Ryan Reynolds is my favorite out of that group of terrible actors. At least he's competent and not a total douche. Though, I'm not really a fan (aside of Waiting).

I thought Ryan Reynolds was signed on to be Deadpool.
Horsesh*t, now who are they going to cast as Deadpool?

Uhh... he can play both? Correct me if I am wrong but Green Lantern is a DC hero, Deadpool is Marvel, I see no conflict here.

What logic do you use to say that GL > Deadpool?
GL is a B-List superhero at best, while Deadpool is probably one of the coolest characters in the Marvel Universe... his butchered role in X-Men Origins notwithstanding.

B list? Really? He's a space cop for crying out loud. His setting allows for far better stories than Deadpool.
Deadpool is probably the most overrated Marvel character. Only shows in third rate books or crossovers. His ability to break the 4th wall is a gimmick.

Hey uh..."isn't yet finalized" does not = "confirmed".
But great, I guess...National Lampoon's Van Lantern. Green Wilder?
Ryan Reynolds is a great sarcastic comedic actor who has the ability to play 1 role, and 1 role only. It's the exact same character he plays in every movie. Waiting, Van Wilder, Just Friends, every one of them was identical. Even the 1 episode of Scrubs that he appeared in was the same character. I thought he was a wretched choice for Deadpool. And he's a wretched choice for GL too. Thanks a lot DC, for raping another memory of one of my childhood heroes.

You must not read a whole lot then. Deadpool has some of the best stories out there. In fact the last Green Lantern arc that was enjoyable was about two years ago.
He is definitely B-list of DC though, I'd rather it be John Stewart to be honest.

I don't know if I'd call him B-list of DC. Lower A-list, maybe. But not B-list.

According to IMDB (Internet Movie Database) (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005351/) he very much still is playing Deadpool.
I can't say yay or nay cause I really don't know Green Lantern.

Not really a fan of the Green Lantern. But if the movie looks good then I'll see it anyway. Actually I'm not really a fan of DC except for Batman.
By the way, since I'll never actually read it who was it that killed Bruce Wayne in the comics? I remember reading that they were killing him off.

Nope. It was Darkseid (read Final Crisis).
Anyways, Reynolds is more or less a dbag. But nice to know he's a nerdy Dbag. Anyone else remember his role in Blade?
I don't think he'd fit at all as GL personally. Would have rather had David Boreanaz. And GL is most definitley A-List. Hell....the entire summer comics event is dedicated to GL

I don't know, apparently people actually like the Green Lantern (and Aquaman) I don't understand it, but they do and if it says DC Comics on the poster, it'll do well

There are other Green Lanterns. But I guess they're going with the first one.
That said, I like John Stewart more.
