View Full Version : How about letting us download any 3 songs for $5.99

I'm sure there are many of us that plan on buying plenty of songs but maybe not as many packs. Single songs are $1.99 and 3 song packs are $5.49. How about a deal where if we buy 3 songs at one time, we still get them for $5.49?

OH NO I HAVE TO PAY AN EXTRA 50 CENTS IF I DON'T BUY IT IN A BUNDLE!
Jesus, what do you people want? Their pricing is already far superior to Guitar Hero.
Be thankful for what we get:
Cheap songs
Cheaper bundles
FREQUENT UPDATES
And they havent even released the albums yet.

Yea, I think it wouldn't be so bad if you could buy "songs" instead of points and then buy w/e songs you like. iTunes does that a lot with their promotional stuff.

It seems as if you're late to math class. Better run along now.
Where did I mention anything about GH3? How did it even come up? Is this a GH3 forum? DId I compare anything to GH3? No I didn't. Take a logic class while you're in school buddy.

What are you even talking about?
And what the hell is a "logic class?" Might want to lay off the Natty Ice dude.

I dont think they could do this if they wanted due to the current limitations on xblive marketplace... notice how it is already very messy with a huge list of tracks and bundles.
I dont think MS has a very useful interface to accomodate something as ambitious as what we're seeing.

I think the way the licensing worked out was similar to the on-disc content. The labels are probably willing to charge a little less for the licensing costs if they are guaranteed to get a cut of the 3-song set.
Take, for example, the Black Sabbath pack. I likely wouldn't have bought Sweet Leaf on its own, but I did in the pack. The labels, knowing this would be the case, charged less for the licenses to HMX for the three song packs, knowing that the package would get suckers like me to get all three. They get more money, and I get a discount, so everyone wins.
With make-your-own packs, Black Sabbath isn't guaranteed any extra sales. I might have bought NIB, War Pigs, and I Fought the Law as a three-pack. Black Sabbath's label gets nothing from lowering the price, aside from a lower profit. I don't think they'd go for that.
This is all just a big guess, and it might not even be possible on the XBL Marketplace, PSN, or both. Maybe it's a combination of the two. I just wouldn't hold my breath, because there is really no similar model in the music industry (you don't get a bulk discount on iTunes).

My guess is the way DLC is set up on the systems. You can either buy a pack or the single song. You can't buy multiple songs at once, so the DLC system is not set up to allow a company to give discounts on multiple purchases unless they specificly group songs together and load them up as a seperate purchase.

I guess you don't understand the concept of bundles. It's a special price to tempt you to buy things that you don't really want. That concept is totally scrapped if you can make your own bundle.

$1.99 X 3 = $5.97
$5.97 - $5.49 = $0.48
$0.48 =/= $0.50
Hence, back to math class.
A logic class will teach you how to make logical arguments. You GH3 nonsense was completely irrelevant.

and I understand the concept. I also understand that it's not likely to happen. Furthermore,, i understand that the best that can happen from posting this suggestion is I'd save a little money. Worst case scenario, it stays exactly the same.

would love to see this, but it won't happen.
i do c a way to do it though, at least on live. make a song pack titled "creat your own" or whatever, once you're in there, pick your 3 songs and pay the discounted price for each. just have to set an interval limit of 3 before they will DL

Way to nitpick.

48, 50 or whatever amount of cents is not killing my wallet!! I just love the idea that you don't have to buy the whole song pack if you don't want. Choices people!! choices,
and if the ability for me to make that choice sets me back 50 cents, then I'm fine with that. End of story.
