View Full Version : Ummm stop making me be leader?

It's really getting annoying waiting for 20 minutes to hook up with a guy in game that will drop after half a song anyway, but forcing me to pick songs when I DON'T WANT TO is REALLY annoying. There really needs to be some sort of voting system in place because I really do not want to pick the songs. I'm sick of being stuck with leader and then picking a song where there's only 1 guy playing with me and he drops because he doesn't like that song.

Don't like picking songs? Don't want people to think you're biased in your choices? At the top of the set list, you'll find "Random Song". Problem solved.

Just leave a game when you are leader man if it annoys you that much. Eventually you are bound to not be leader.

Heh, out of the hundreds of times I've joined quickplay, I've been leader twice. I just don't like being leader in general for a lot of reason, including the ones you stated. I would recommend, if you don't like picking the songs, to just go random. That way the other person is less likely to leave because you're not picking the songs.

I've been leader 8 times, out of the 8 times I have played... *shrugs*

It's tough to be king.

I'm sure I missed it in another thread, but how does one become the leader? I have a hard time playing on line because my wife wants to pick the songs (yeah, she's a singer go figgure). I'm talking about on a PS3 in quickplay.

Go to "multiplayer" "band quickplay" "online multiplayer" and then invited friends off your buddy list. By inviting people that will make you leader.

If you join randomly the leader is probably randomly assigned.

For me, becoming leader has always been a completely random occurrence. I think you're more likely to become leader if you're the leader of two or three people trying to fill out the band than if you're a single player just looking to jam.

And I actually do think it's a good idea to have leader default to the singer more often than not: the singer relates to the song more thoroughly than anyone else in the band, and so is more likely to have a really annoying experience if they have to repeatedly sing songs they don't care for or have trouble with.

I think leader is based upon the number after your name. I started out on drums, so my drummer is drummer(1) and my guitarist is rocker(2).

Anyways, I am ALWAYS leader on drums... except for once when a guitarist with a (1) next to his name was the leader.

Not me =) I love the thrill of wondering what someone's going to choose. It can get dull singing the same songs all the time, I agree, but I'm slowly mastering the ones that are overplayed. When I choose songs I like to pick ones that aren't played too often and I'm not the best at, but people tend to leave a lot when I do, because they're not that great at it either >.>

Well, I think that applies to any instrument. For this purpose, I'm focusing more on the singer's relationship with the song: nobody else in Rock Band is as physically involved with the music...heck, nobody else even needs to worry about pitch!

All I know is that when I play a song I don't care for in this game, it's a wholly more miserable experience when I'm singing it than when I'm playing guitbass.

The game could use a more democratic method of choosing song, even if it was just some colored halos that players 2, 3, and 4 could put around songs so the leader could tell what people wanted each time.

Matchmaking preferences would also be cool too "I want to play on medium!" "I only want to play with other expert players!" "I want to play with people that like to challenge themselves!" "I want to play with people that will 97%+ a song!" "I want to play in order to attempt a super high score!" etc.

I've also played about 40 times and been leader once... and it was not fun. No one gave me any suggestions even after I asked. Thankfully I was able to play some songs online that I would never get to otherwise.
