Okay, this is quite random, I apologize, but I need a name for a metal show that I'm going to be doing on the radio.

I've thought about this long and hard and have been having immense trouble. I'm sure that you guys are creative enough to give an idea or two.

Please at least one person respond, I need ideas haha.

Tony, I'm in exactly the same dilemma. And it doesn't help that one of my fellow DJs already took the greatest name ever for her metal show... Bite My Shiny METAL Ass.

The other guy who does metal at the station has a very good one also: Mind Over Metal. It's too hard to come up with something that has such a good ring. I also need a DJ name, but I've got some ideas there.

What college station? Do you guys have a webcast, or just over air?

You can tune into WKDU (http://www.wkdu.org/summer09) over the internet anytime.

WRUV (http://wruv.org/) (Radio University of Vermont). You can stream it there. I won't get a normal regular show until the fall since I'm still going through training and starting to do irregular shifts. It's very fun, I must say.

That's pretty much the same for me. In theory I could have my radio show half way through the summer, but I doubt I will have enough time to finish all the training and random work by then.

i used to do the occasional radio show, mostly just filling in for a friend when he had other stuff to do... our show was called "lost" (and this was '99-'01 so no connections to the TV show).

best of luck.

Yeah. I feel like right now I'd be ready to have a show, but they run on a semester basis so I can't get one that is on a regular schedule until next semester, which would be the fall. I spent like 20 hours just working on my demo tape haha. I'm glad it was good enough to get me in.

You guys need a demo tape? All we have to do is 8 hours of random work around the studio/elsewhere (sorting albums, DJing events, mixing live studio performances, etc.), have 6+ hours of "new music listening" in the station, and have four sit in/training sessions with current DJs (the last of which is your test to make sure you can operate all the equipment and don't curse on the air). And normally it's done by semester, except we have a bunch of open spots because all the music industry kids are on internships for the summer.

Ah, ours is quite different. You have to hand in a demo tape that is a mock hour or so of programming. Basically just do a show with the songs shortened to 40 seconds. Then, you have to do 6 hours of shadowing DJs so that you get experience in the on-air booth and with all of the software and everything. After that, you must do 6 graveyard shifts, which are from 2-4 A.M. or 4-6 A.M. Unfortunately, my parents won't let me do those, so we're compromising so that I can do other shifts.
