Well assuming he was being truthful about that skin condition all those plastic surgeries would have gone down anyway. This accident may be responsible for his drug addiction, though.

It's pretty well known that the accident was what started his drug addiction.

As for the plastic surgeries, a combination of vitiligo and lupus certainly didn't help in that regard. They've found evidence of both in his autopsy. That's one hell of a one-two punch, though... between the uneven pigment-flipping of vitiligo and the potential rashes that lupus causes, it would have been incredibly grating on somebody in the public eye.

With regard to the video... that's just painful to watch. I'm impressed he kept going for as long as he did... I think, even if the heat from the flames wasn't so bad, the smell of burning hair would have definitely caused me to hit the dirt and look for something to cover my head with...
