View Full Version : OXM : Beatles:Rock Band will NOT import into Rock Band 2.

Most of us have already assumed that this was the case, (and if this has already been discussed here on the forums I apologize for the reposting of old info) but the newest issue of OXM contains the quote "We are sad to report that you will not be able to import the Beatles into Rock Band 2".

So there you have it. Official word from an interview with HMX on the game.

I'm glad it's finally out there, if it wasn't already. I wasn't expecting it.

I'm surprised that you're posting this, as we have had official word from HMX since E3 about the lack of importability.

And honestly, does this really come as a surprise to anyone?

That's okay, they're just biding their time before allowing an import into RB3. Muahaha.

Not to me. I haven't really been following the Beatles news(I'm getting the game, but I'm not researching every detail kind of thing).

With the announcement that Beatles would have its own DLC I had assumed that it wouldn't import, but I didn't realize there was official confirmation from HMX yet.

The only thing funnier would have been if you posted that and then locked this thread.

There's enough sniffers out there that we'd be able to see a wonderful visual graphic of "the day that part of the internet literally exploded".

I still can't believe that anyone thought they would be able to import it. Separate game, separate licensing, separate technology, from day one. The only thing that's mixing is the marketing, since they decided to put "Rock Band" in the name.

What about exporting all data from Rock Band 2 into The Beatles: Rock Band? Also unlikely, but it's at least a bit more believable than TB:RB exporting into RB2.

Just as unlikely, as the only characters in TB:RB are The Beatles (obviously) and you can bet they won't let you have them play any other song - The Beatles performing Hammer Smashed Face? Not going to happen.

^ ^ im with this guy. i left guitar hero because of all the discs and refuse to buy dlc off them for the same reason. rockband gets my money because its all put together like it should be. **** the beatles and their arrogance.

We knew this for quite some time no? Either way I made the decision to not buy the game due to this fact. I'll be all over it if we ever do get the import option. Until then I won't be getting The Beatles: Rock Band

... I do kinda dig the guitars though, lol.

General Lein979

I notice that it said import to rock band 2 but not export from beatles. I'm guessing one of the next years e3 announcements for rb3 will be:
We are pleased to announce that you will be able to Export your Beatles track list and be able to use you Beatles dlc on RB3 which will have full harmony support. (Cheers) Alex Rigopulos

This because at the time being the RB2 vocal code can not read the Beatles vocal code nor Drum fills. This buffer would also let people have time to admire the beatles art and so the extra microphones have a use.

Too bad, that only makes the worth of the game even more risky to buy.

Question: Why not have Rock Band 2 import into Beatles? Is it just disc space? I'd love to see my band open for the Beatles on Ed Sullivan playing Sir Psycho Sexy.

I'm pretty much in agreement with those who's response is "Well duh."

HMX is not going to take their newest release and make it exportable to a game that's going to be a year old by then.

What was the point of introducing harmonies, putting together dreamscapes, and creating Beatles character models if everybody just dropped the Beatles songs in their HDD and threw out the disc?

But before we push the panic button (as this forum as known to do), let's wait to see what they do with RB2 and LEGO before deciding grabbing the torches and pitchforks.

This, of course, is five-week old news and the torches and pitchforks were already out in full force back then, so I'm not even going to try to rehash my arguments on why failure to export was such a terrible idea for this game.

But a quick response to this point in particular: I don't think for one second that "everyone" would just drop the Beatles songs in their HDD and throw out the TBRB disc (like they did with AC/DC). Even with the ability to port Beatles songs into RB proper, I (and many others) would still gladly play TBRB in addition just for the aesthetic/atmospheric/historical value.

(***EDIT: Plus, achievement junkies -- like me -- would still play the separate disc just to earn bonus points for the 360.)

It would be great to mix my Beatles songs in with the main setlist, but it would also be great to play *as* the Beatles in their historic venues, and to learn more about the band, and just to reminisce.

With an export feature, I'd still gladly play both games.

Yeah, it was announced at E3.

Also, HMXHenry went on to say: For a variety of technical and artistic reasons it made much more sense to all involved to have TB:RB available as it's own game. …we've done a pretty stand up job maintaining the platform mentality of RB over the last two years…and TB:RB shouldn't be viewed as a step away from that … The Beatles: Rock Band is simply a different game. It may make more sense to some people once we reveal more game details or once people actually get a chance to play. But I think if you ask people that got a hands on at E3 they'd tell you that this doesn't feel like a part of the RB universe.

You won't see me throwing money on a game for songs that should be playable on Rock Band 2.
ROCK BAND! PLEASE DON'T OVER DO THIS STUFF!
you'll become watered down and boring like the Guitar Hero series.

Rock Band 1,2,3,4, etc.
but when you start doing things like Rock Band Lego, and Beatles. it becomes warn, and stagnant.

why not just release their catalogue as a special over the store. and if you buy a special Beatles Instrument, then you get a $5 voucher towards the Downloadable Catalogue.

Rockband Lego sucks. But THe Beatles? Don't you ever say that about the best band of our time. It's so good, that it deserves a different frigin' console. Play Station Beatles (PSB).

They made a different game for an awesome band, okay?
Don't wanna buy it? Don't buy it.

There's a difference between this and the Guitar Hero band-themed games: The Beatles are awesome and deserve their own game.

Rockband Lego sucks.

So you've played it?

It's the RB2 engine with Lego models. What exactly sucks about it? The soundtrack is pretty good so far (minus, what, 1 song?) and it plays just like RB2 would, plus it has some added Lego features. So, again, how does it suck?
