It's more like GH, a preset list with bonus songs. And your bandmates are random, premade characters by HMX.

You don't get a bus, roadies, or anything of the sort. It's pretty much exactly like GH, only you can do drums and vocals as well. You also score $ ($150 for 5 stars) on the bonus tour and all the DLC songs, unlike GH, which gives you no love for finishing those off.

Also, each character has one pool of cash, so money you earn in BWT and Solo is cumulative and can be spent however you like. So if you earn $20k in BWT and then earn $30k in solo mode, your character will have $50k. Money earned in easy, medium, hard and expert modes are all cumulative as well, so trucking through the songs on easy mode solo is a quick and easy way to net up some $$ for a character.

Then say if you so BWT one day can you have two people and the next have three and continue with the same career or do you have to start a new one when you change the number of people.

yes you can continue it, however, whichever character you made as the Leader when you started must be present in order to play, and on their instrument. Say you started the band with the Leader being a Guitarist/Bassist named Jeff, he must be there in order to continue.
