What do you want them to be? (For those of us who have trouble narrowing it down to ten... (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=152395))

Here are my choices.

01 She Loves You
02 A Hard Day's Night (Pretty much guaranteed to be included, and it will kick ass.)
03 Ticket to Ride
04 Help!
05 We Can Work It Out
06 Drive My Car
07 In My Life (It's a downbeat song, but it's one of my favorites; plus, the piano solo would be awesome charted to guitar.)
08 Wait
09 Run for Your Life (It's such a vicious song, I'd actually be really surprised if it makes it onto the disc.)
10 I'm Only Sleeping
11 Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
12 Strawberry Fields Forever
13 Lady Madonna
14 Hey Jude (If included, this could likely be the "biggest" song in the game. It's impossible not to sing along to the coda.)
15 Happiness is a Warm Gun
16 I'm So Tired
17 Yer Blues
18 Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey
19 Helter Skelter (I'd be really surprised if this wasn't on the disc.)
20 Don't Let Me Down

A few notes:
- Clearly, this list is just made up of selfish picks with no regard for how likely it'll resemble the actual remaining songs. It's really Lennon-heavy and I'm sure they'd want to represent both main songwriters somewhat equally.
- I decided to exclude "Come Together", "I Want You", and "Something" since we're getting those on day one either on-disc or as DLC anyway.
- I removed "A Day in the Life" because it's such a big song that it kind of deserves to be DLC with the full Sgt. Pepper's album.

Yep. Post yours!

I'll be surprised if "All My Loving" isn't on the disc. Furthermore, I expect a couple of tracks from Rubber Soul (Drive My Car is a good bet) and maybe Hey Bulldog.

Edit: And yes, I'm too lazy to find 20 :P

A clarification: Abbey Road DLC will not be available day one (or at least, a release day for it has not been given).

I've actually recently come to believe that Good Morning, Good Morning will be a sleeper inclusion after they toned down the horns and brought out the band a bit more. Why? Because I had totally forgotten the insane guitar solo that might be the hardest one that could be put in the game.

Not to mention that a barnyard would look pretty amusing as a dreamscape.

I would've included "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds", but I feel that song would be included with any possible Sgt. Pepper's DLC.

Hard to pick, but a few more I'd like to see in the game...

Strawberry Fields
Hey Bulldog
Rain
Helter Skelter
Good Morning
Sgt Pepper (Reprise)/A Day In The Life
Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except For Me And My Monkey
Ticket To Ride
Help!
She Said She Said

If Hey Jude doesn't make the disc, it better damn well be released as DLC. This game would not be complete without your entire band singing along to that song.

So far been lucky. Only two songs I didn't list have been announced. But now we are down to the wire, and we see that a TON of dreamscapes have already been announced. So either we don't have an even number of songs at each venue, we have 6 per with 5 more dreamscapes, or we have 5 per with 10 more dreamscapes. I'm guessing it's the second one. And here is my list, which might have to be final since we're so close to the wire.

All My Loving
She Loves You
I Want To Hold Your Hand
A Hard Day's Night
Help!
Ticket To Ride
Drive My Car
In My Life - guessing the harpsichord will once again be a geetar
What Goes On
If I Needed Someone
I've Just Seen A Face
She Said She Said
Here,There And Everywhere - we have very few ballads
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds - the second Yellow Submarine song
Good Morning Good Morning - I really just want to see a barnyard Beatles song. Maybe this is part of the mentioned dreamscape DLC instead.
Lady Madonna
Helter Skelter - this would be awesome if it used the trippy sitar design with tie-dyed colors.
Hey Jude - They will get at least five instant bad reviews from mainstream media outlets alone if they don't have this song. Let alone the millions of friends of friends who will say, "Really??? They don't have Hey Jude?"
Dear Prudence
Come Together
Ballad Of John and Yoko - It HAS to be. They already have it in RB:U.

Happiness Is A Warm Gun
Helter Skelter
Come Together
Something

I made a list and it ended up at about 40 so I've really struggled to cut it down to 20. Hey Jude and Let It Be I cut primarily because they're piano based. I think Let It Be would suit the game best as it has a decent guitar solo and there's a good chance Hey Jude will be on the game because... it's Hey Jude. We'll have to wait and see. I'd really like to see Across The Universe but Let It Be [the album] already has a decent selection and whilst that song might be close to the top of my list, I can see why it wouldn't be on the disc. Still it'd make an awesome dreamscape. I think 'The End' would make a fitting end to the game. The last lyric is perfect, it has a drum solo and altogether some of Ringo's best drumming and it's great on the other instruments. I don't think they will put a single song from the medley on though which is totally understandable. I just pray to god we have the option to play the medley, or at least most of it or half and half as one track and not chopped up.

Here's my guess (really a wishlist :D )

Don't Bother Me
A Hard Day's Night
I Should Have Known Better
I'm a Loser
Help!
The Night Before
Ticket to Ride
Drive My Car
I'm Looking Through You
If I Needed Someone
Rain
I'm Only Sleeping
Getting Better
A Day in the Life
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Happiness is a Warm Gun
Don't Pass Me By
Helter Skelter
Savoy Truffle
Hey Bulldog

Now before anyone says, "there's too many George Harrison songs in that list," remember that his son is playing such an instrumental part in making this game happen that he may have successfully pushed for more of his father's songs to appear in the game (At least I'm hoping that is the case, anyway).

I also added Don't Pass Me By since I don't think it's too unreasonable for the only 2 songs that Ringo wrote while with the Beatles to appear on disc (plus it's a great song, terribly underrated IMO).

Don't get me wrong, Hey Jude and Let It Be are one of the greatest songs ever, but I think they couldn't be on Rockband. They're Piano based!
There's no reason why they couldn't chart the piano tracks to guitar. They've done it in other Rock Band songs.

Hell, they charted an orchestra to guitar for "I Am the Walrus". The notion that a song absolutely has to contain literal bass and guitar parts for it to be a Rock Band song is fading fast.

LuigiHann
07-21-2009, 11:06 PM
Not sure about 'Let It Be," but Hey Jude would play just fine in Rock Band, charted normally.

3. All My Loving (Ed Sullivan Show)
4. A Hard Day's Night (Ed Sullivan Show)
5. Help! (Shea Stadium)

7. We Can Work It Out (Shea Stadium)
8. Rain (The Budokan)
9. Drive My Car (The Budokan)
10. Got to Get You Into My Life (The Budokan)
11. A Day in the Life (Dreamscape)
12. Hello, Goodbye (Dreamscape)
13. Hey Bulldog (Dreamscape)
14. While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Dreamscape)
15. Happiness is a Warm Gun (Dreamscape)
16. Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey (Dreamscape)
17. Helter Skelter (Dreamscape)
18. Hey Jude (Dreamscape)
19. One After 909 (Rooftop Concert)
20. Don't Let Me Down (Rooftop Concert)

My idea behind choosing the songs was that there would be five songs for each venue. The only venue which has more than five is Budokan (which has 7 songs) but I figured if they have two different outfits they must have played more songs there. That leaves 18 dreamscapes and 5 songs for the rooftop concert. What do you guys think?

elitemastersam
07-22-2009, 04:19 AM
I think that we will be seeing Don't Let Me Down and One After 909 in the game because that will complete the rooftop performance set, and that final performance is very important.

I'm pretty sure Let It Be and Penny Lane wont make the cut. Hey Jude should have a fighting chance. One of John's songs off the White Album should make it along with Helter Skelter and WMGGW. Off of the Let It Be album Im thinking maybe I Me Mine and/or Two Of Us. Abbey Road shouldn't have any more On-disc. If we only get one or two songs from Help or Rubber Soul then I could see those being next in line for album Dlc after AR. LitSwD or A Day In The Life will probably make it but i dont think both because then you are running out of big songs for the album release. I guess we'll see soon enough!

Am I missing something or does nobody want Eleanor Rigby? Because that song is just amazing.

Most people don't post all of the songs they want, they post the songs they think HMX will pick. There's no way Eleanor Rigby will be on the disc because it doesn't incorporate all 4 guitar/bass/drum/vocal functions.

DLC, sure. But it won't be on the disc.

Many of these are my favorites, but I took into consideration the adaptability of each song for Beatles: Rock Band -- that being, two guitars, drums, and something along the lines of three people singing:

1. If I Fell (my all time favorite along side...)
2. Happiness is a Warm Gun (and...)
3. A Day in the Life
4. The Final Abbey Road Medley [Golden Slumbers, Carry that Weight, The End (this can be possible as Within You Without You/Tomorrow Never Knows and Sgt. Peppers/ With a Little Help from my Friends were made as a medley in the revealed song list.)]
5. I Don't Want to Spoil the Party
6. I've Just Seen a Face
7. Two of Us
8. Strawberry Fields Forever
9. P.S. I Love You
10. Wait
11. Nowhere Man
12. All My Loving
13. The Ballad of John and Yoko
14. Hey Jude (I don't doubt this one will be on there. I mean, it's super obvious, just like...)
15. Come Together (not one of my favorites, but I'm almost 100% positive it'll be on there, and I'm going for realism.)
16. Helter Skelter (also high chance of this one)
17. I'll Be Back
18. No Reply
19. Hey Bulldog
20. Don't Let me Down

~ I tried to choose from a variety of their albums as it's been announced that songs will be chosen from all 12 of their albums, and potentially some from non-studio albums such as Love. Furthermore, I tried to choose songs that are memorable and I could invision playing :).

I hope some of these songs make the cut. I feel pretty confident that at least one of the listed will! :)

I hope Hey Jude won't be on-disc, for the guitarist and bassist's sake. Of course it is a fantastic song for vocals. But it is a piano rock song, and the guitar is at simplest. It doesn't have to be in the game just because it is one of the biggest hits by the band.

She Loves You
A Hard Day's Night
Help!
You've Got to Hide Your Love Away
Drive My Car
We Can Work it Out
Rain
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Helter Skelter
The Ballad of John and Yoko
One After 909
Got To Get You Into My Life
Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey
Don't Let Me Down
I'm Only Sleeping
Come Together
I Want You (She's So Heavy)
Something
Happiness Is A Warm Gun
Abbey Road Medley (if we only get one song, The End)

Some songs, like Let It Be and Hey Jude, I'm doubtful due to their piano-orientation. Other songs, like A Day in the Life and Eleanor Rigby, are too orchestra-oriented to be included.

Many of these are my favorites, but I took into consideration the adaptability of each song for Beatles: Rock Band -- that being, two guitars, drums, and something along the lines of three people singing:

"Within You Without You/Tomorrow Never Knows" is a mash-up, not a medley- it has the drums and bass of the latter laid on top of the former. And unfortunately, "Sgt. Pepper" and "With a Little Help" are still being counted as two songs, even though gameplay will be seamless. So I think they're saving the medley for DLC.

In case anyone's interested, here are the most frequent picks so far:

Great list! I doubt both "Help!" and "Ticket to Ride" will make it, since they're John songs from the same album (see my theory below). I'd also count out "We Can Work It Out", since the instrumentation is so slight and horn-based. I'd also count against both "A Day in the Life" and "Lucy in the Sky", and I think the latter would do a better job of selling DLC.

Okay, have you noticed that there's been one song per vocalist per album? The only exception is when the lead is shared, as in "I've Got a Feeling". The three songs from Please Please Me are split between John, Paul and George, and Sgt. Pepper's has one Paul, one Ringo, and one George, etc.

If this is more than a trend, this is a pretty comprehensive list of what we may get:
Help! OR Ticket to Ride
The Night Before OR I've Just Seen a Face
I Need You
A Hard Day's Night
I'm Happy Just to Dance with You
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
A Day in the Life (probably not both)
Magical Mystery Tour OR Hello, Goodbye
Got to Get You into My Life
Drive My Car OR I'm Looking Trough You
Nowhere Man OR The Word
Think For Yourself OR If I Needed Someone
What Goes On OR Don't Pass Me By (if we're getting more Ringo)
Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me and My Monkey
Happiness is a Warm Gun
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Helter Skelter OR Obladi Oblada (probably the former)
All My Loving
Don't Bother Me OR Roll Over Beethoven
It Won't Be Long
Come Together
I Me Mine
Hey Bulldog

The next question is, should the non-album singles be compared the same way, according to their Past Masters albums? I think hmx will be generous, since there are no Ringo tracks and the two George tracks aren't suited to RB:
She Loves You
From Me to You
Rain OR Ballad of John and Yoko
Hey Jude OR Lady Madonna

I know this leaves a lot of wiggle room, and some random b-sides might make it in, but it does rule out some surprising songs:

She Said She Said (boo!)
Something
Strawberry Fields Forever (though I hope the rule doesn't apply to MMT, since it wasn't intended as an album)
Please Please Me
I'm a Loser
If I Fell
And I Love Her
Hold Me Tight

From there, these are my predictions:

A Day in the Life
Hello, Goodbye
Got to Get You into My Life
Drive My Car
Think For Yourself
What Goes On
Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me and My Monkey
Happiness is a Warm Gun
While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Rain
Hey Jude

No If I Fell???
I really hope your wrong, mate. I love that song, it's my most played Beatles -- hell, my MOST played -- song on my iPod.

Furthermore, it's just so perfect. Three-way vocals, guitar, bass, and drums. Each instrument's part is perfectly adaptable for the game, and it's a pretty memorable song -- it was part of both 'Hard Day's Night' and the new musical, 'Across the Universe,' not to mention it was sung by (what's his first name?) Castro -- the guy with dreads -- in American Idol for Beatles Night (the only day of American idol that I watched).

Overall, I think it'd be a grave mistake to leave it out. I'm content enough with the few revealed songs that they have announced, but what a shame it would be to leave it out of the list.

I am confident, however, that -- if not on the original track listing -- that it will make it into the DLC's. Afterall, they did announce that they're trying to go for the whole Beatles catalogue, which I still don't understand how they're going to pull that off with some goofy non-Rock Band songs like Eleanor Rigby, Yesterday, Wild Honey Pie, Flying, She's Leaving Home (beautiful, though it is), etc.

Just my thoughts.

I just remembered two songs that I love by them that I totally forgot in my predictions list: Oh! Darling and Getting Better. Oh! Darling will be with the Abbey Road DLC, but I would absolutely love Getting Better. The problem is there's already three tracks from Sgt. Pepper on disc (well, two of them are made as one, and the other is combined with another song, but still) so I'm a little doubtful they'd put it on disc.

And speaking of "goofy non-Rock Band songs", the one of those types that I would most want to be able to play is You Know My Name, Look Up The Number. It's just a fun song.

I just listened to the Sgt. Pepper album again, and another song that stands out is Good Morning Good Morning. The guitar solo and Ringo's play out are amazing! I hope that the album is DLC #2, or I'll be upset not to be able to play these songs. I just hope that if they put another Pepper song on disc that it's not A Day in the Life; it would be pretty boring if you aren't singing.

In my original "45" (after the first group of songs were announced), I had Good Morning Good Morning in it because you're right: it really works well. I'm inclined to think, however, that it'll be merged with the SPLHCB reprise so more likely to be DLC. But it definitely would be a good track to play.

Alright.

So seeing as we have 20 slots left on disc, I'm going to attempt to divine what I think WILL be, based on an incredibly intricate and complicated system of inspection, called "I guessed."

A Hard Day's Night (4 chord? maybe? who knows)
Tell Me Why
Come Together (Tough Choice, really should be DLC to push the album.)
Everybody's trying to be my Baby
Ticket to Ride
You're going to lose that girl (Slower, but not boring.)
Hello Goodbye
She Loves You (that's in there. It just like... this game HAS to have it.)
Got To Get You Into my Life (Harmony parts sing horns)
Drive My Car
Nowhere Man
Think For Yourself
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (this game has big songs. Doesn't mean it can't pull bigger ones. People will still buy Sgt. Pepper as Full album DLC in November. I'm calling it right now.)
While My Guitar Gently Weeps (with george playing the solo. They skipped Billy Preston. They'll skip Clapton.)
Roll Over Beethoven (Not a hard solo. BUT BALLIN)
Only A Northern Song
Across The Universe
Helter Skelter
Strawberry Fields Forever
Hey Jude.

I always like your lists, although I bet we just get one more Sgt. Pepper song. "Good Morning" is an interesting choice, since we don't have a John song from the album yet. I hope we get more than four songs from TWA, like "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", or "Happiness is a Warm Gun". You don't have any Paul from MMT, and I'm still betting we don't get both "Help!" and "Ticket to Ride"--two John from the same album-- although of course that's just a theory...

Looking at that list, I'm definitely doubting A Day in the Life and Hey Jude, and am doubtful of Hello Goodbye. The first for its heaviness in symphony, the second for its heaviness in piano, and the last for both its piano-basis and simplicity. Just look at this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qf2S7kKLtEQ&feature=fvw) to see how enthusiastic the Beatles feel about Hello Goodbye.

The one song that I didn't have on my list that's on this list that I agree should be in the game is Hey Bulldog. That guitar riff is one of the most signature riffs in rock music, and it has a nice solo in the middle.

Two songs I'm disappointed aren't on that list are Oh! Darling and Getting Better. I'd really like one of the two to make the game on disc, although the former is definitely going to be on as DLC.

For everyone who keeps disregarding songs that are heavy with non-traditional Rock Band instrumentation, just look at how they charted "I Am the Walrus". There's virtually no guitar in the song to speak of, so the strings are charted instead. It works perfectly fine (you can see a video of the song being performed at Harmonix's E3 demo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSOTLuJyxME)). If they can chart strings in "I Am the Walrus", they can chart whatever instruments are similarly most prominent in "A Day in the Life" or "Hey Jude". If "A Day in the Life" isn't on the disc, it's more likely because it makes a better Sgt. Pepper's DLC song -- as the album closer and one of the band's most acclaimed songs, it just makes more sense to use it as an incentive to get the album.

But that's just it, they charted the strings to guitar, violin for I Am the Walrus and sitar for Within You Without You. But piano? That's much more a stretch.
Why would you call it a stretch? There's already a precedent for it in other Rock Band songs. There are keyboard/organ solos charted to guitar in "Smokin'" by Boston and "Shining Star" by Earth, Wind, & Fire. I'm pretty sure one of the 20 Free DLC songs for RB2 has a fair bit of charted piano in it. I was actually disappointed that the keyboard solo for "She's Not There" by the Zombies wasn't charted on the guitar track.

There's absolutely no reason not to chart the piano to the guitar track if there's not a prominent guitar in the song. I mean, let's forget about whether or not "Hey Jude" or "Hello Goodbye" will appear on the disc. Here are two other questions for you concerning these songs:

1) Do you think they'll appear in the game at all (either on disc or as DLC)
2) If you think they'll be in the game, isn't it likely that there'll be some piano-charting going on?

And if the answers are yes, then there's no reason to think it'd be crazy to include them on the disc.

As a side note, someone pointed out earlier that there is indeed a guitar part for the majority of "Hey Jude", so there really isn't anything keeping it from being a shoe-in for the game, whether you're for piano-charting or not.

Yep, I'm aware.

The only places it'd make sense to switch to piano/orchestra during "A Day in the Life" would be for the orchestra freakouts and Paul's "Woke up/Got out of bed" bit. Also, I can't imagine that they wouldn't chart the "final chord" to guitar.

It's not that there isn't precedent, it's that it seems like the kind of thing they try not to do. Generally speaking, game designers/animators/writers have a set of rules that they draw up to avoid confusion and keep quality control. One of those rules seems to be that you must chart the guitar as guitar whenever possible.

Nobody is saying they wouldn't do it, just that it is the kind of lazy/careless charting that they have tended to eschew in the past. Speaking personally, but it would be jarring and weird for me to be clearly playing piano on guitar.

I just include Help and Ticket to Ride because they're so well-known. I'm betting on just about all the super well-known early singles to be included. I would love more stuff from The White Album; the only reason I am unsure about Weeps is because I don't know if Clapton's guitar work came with a price tag. Although maybe that's MORE reason why it would be included on disc. If there's one track I would be completely unsurprised to be wrong about, it's that one.

There's a distinct difference between replacing strings and replacing piano. With strings, it's a whole lot easier for somebody to think "hm, this sort of sounds like a guitar" or "hm, maybe this could actually be played like this on a guitar". With piano, it's fairly obvious that you're playing a piano part on a guitar. A Day in the Life is likelier than Let It Be because of that, but I'm still doubtful of it being on-disc. There's a pretty good chance that they'll hold off this for DLC since (1) they could put something like Getting Better or Good Morning Good Morning on disc that's more Rock Band-like and (2) having a track like ADitL as DLC would boost DLC sales for a Pepper album DLC easily; there needs to be a big name track left on the album for people to buy it. Same reasoning is why I Want You (She's So Heavy) probably won't appear on disc.

Hmm. Well, he wasn't given songwriting credit for it, so he'd only get performance royalties. From all the money Apple are getting out of this deal, I'd be pretty disappointed if something like that stopped them. It seems like one of the most obvious choices for the game. Also, they included "Twist and Shout", and they don't get songwriting royalties for that.

The only reason I expect A Day in The Life on disc is because there is a snippet of it in the opening cinematic, and all other songs that are heard in the cinematic are confirmed to be on disc (except A Hard Day's Night, but that is almost surely in the game).

4. Across The Universe
5. Ticket To Ride
6. Don't Let Me Down
7. I'll Follow The Sun
8. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
9. Hello Goodbye
10. Strawberry Fields Forever
11. From Me To You
12. Eleanor Rigby
13. Good Day Sunshine
14. Drive My Car
15. A Day In The Life
16. All I've Got To Do
17. All My Loving
18. And I Love Her

I think it would be better from a business prospective if they put A Day in the Life as DLC and put Getting Better or Good Morning Good Morning as on-disc. ADitL would probably rack in more dough. Also, I rather GB and GMGM to ADitL :D

I put my wish list together (no Abbey Road on my wish list since were getting it soon after launch, although I think we might get one more Abbey Road song on disc) and realized that I had a lot of songs that don't accommodate all instruments. Since I think that's probably a prerequisite for an on-disc song, I sadly realized that my wish list and the real final 20 probably wont be too close. So I took a crack at realistically trying to predict the final 20 based on what we've seen in reveals thus far. Three things struck me in the reveals so far: 1) They are making an effort to make sure all 4 Beatles are well represented, 2) They are trying to spread equally across the time line, and 3) They are not opposed to including deeper cuts. So i took my crack. Probably wont even be close.

WISH LIST
1. She Loves You
2. A Hard Day’s Night
3. Ticket to Ride
4. Help!
5. In My Life
6. Norwegian Wood
7. We Can Work it Out
8. Rain
9. Eleanor Rigby
10. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
11. Strawberry Fields Forever
12. A Day in the Life
13. Hey Bulldog
14. Hello Goodbye
15. Hey Jude
16. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
17. Helter Skelter
18. Don’t Let Me Down
19. Ballad of John and Yoko
20. Let it Be

PREDICTION
1. Kansas City
2. Please Please Me
3. She Loves You
4. All My Loving
5. A Hard Day’s Night
6. Ticket to Ride
7. Help!
8. I’m Down
9. If I Needed Someone
10. Nowhere Man
11. What Goes On
12. Rain
13. Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
14. Strawberry Fields Forever
15. Hey Jude
16. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
17. Helter Skelter
18. Come Together
19. Don’t Let Me Down
20. I Me Mine

And I'm also going to say Hey Jude makes the cut. It is way too iconic and transcending across generations to be left out. I think somebody in the forums said it best that they would get poor mainstream reviews if its not on-disc. I can see the newscast/headline now, "No Hey Jude in The Beatles:Rockband" or "Hey Harmonix, You Let me Down". Not the kind of publicity Harmonix would want for a game they're banking the year on.

4. She loves you (Sullivan)
5. Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby (Shea)
6. help (shea)
7. ticket to ride (Shea)
8. we can work it out (budokan)
9. Rain
10. Hello, Goodbye
11. Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
12. A Day in the Life
13. Hey Jude
14. Helter Skelter
15. While my guitar gently weeps

18. Don't Let me down (roof top)
19. One after 909 (roof top)
20. Free as a Bird (cloud dreamscape with john showing up in the clouds but not the studio, possibly credits rolling)

Notes: Yes I know I'm lacking rubber soul nothing really stands out in it other than drive my car so I took 1 of the singles from the same era we can work it out.

I'm betting against the 90's singles making it on disc, since hmx has said they'd only use material from 62-1969. I know they've gone back on their word once, including a Love remix after announcing "No Love-style remixes", but I feel like they wouldn't fit with the other material.

So it's pretty clear that Rubber Soul, Revolver and the contemporary singles will be played at the Budokan. We can be 90% sure that there are five songs per venue, and we know four songs for this one; two John, one George, and one Paul. I have solid guesses for how to finish all of the other venues, but this one I'm split four directions. It's very unlikely John will get three in one venue, but then we don't get "Rain". They'll probably want at least one song from Rubber Soul. The obvious choice is "Drive My Car", but we already have plenty from Macca. "Think for Yourself" would be a great way to get more George, since he may not show up at all at Ed Sullivan or Shae. In the end, I think we'll get "What Goes On". It's not the strongest song, but this way we get two Ringo songs from the touring years, and he has a writing credit on it (the only L/McC/S credit in the Beatles' catalog).

Who says that other songs from Revolver can't be dreamscapes? We know Yellow Submarine is. And I'm sure if Rain (not on Revolver, I know, but from the same era) is in the game, it would be a dreamscape. It's not like it would be a hard one to come up with.

I was thinking today about a song that would be a great addition to the game and rarely gets mentioned: What You're Doing. The drumming on the song is great and it would be a blast to harmonize. And it would fit perfectly as a "Paul" song for Shea Stadium.

Yep. Post yours!

That's a pretty sweet list I must admit.

I would do this but it's way too hard to choose.

I hope I'm wrong, if it means we get "Rain". I made a list of five 'underdog' songs that I hoped made the game, and Rain was at the top of the list. I don't want it to sound like I'm lobbying against the song.

But... it really seems like there's a formula here. Rain preceded Revolver, and I don't think it's better suited to a dreamscape than "Taxman" or "And Your Bird Can Sing", and they aren't getting them. Someone suggested that "Tomorrow Never Knows" should start the dreamscapes. That would've been appropriate, but obviously that's not going to happen.

In any case, I would be very surprised if they skip over Rubber Soul altogether. Could be "Think for Yourself", "What Goes On", "Drive My Car" or "Got to Get You into My Life" (I know they play a video from TBRB when Paul plays the song live, but it doesn't seem to sync to me. Has anyone figured out what song it is?)

The next venue I looked at is the Ed Sullivan Theater. We've got three announced, but it would be pretty shocking if "A Hard Day's Night" didn't make the game, since it's featured in the cinematic. That means one each from John, Paul and Ringo, and a joint John & Paul song. So I think we'll get either "Don't Bother Me" from George, or another John & Paul song, like "She Loves You". I would put the latter at the Cavern Club, but I don't know what they'll do.

I wonder how many more George songs we're getting? Only four have been announced so far (same as Ringo), and it seems like he should be better represented than Starr. I think we'll get one more tour-era Ringo (he certainly has enough dreamscape stuff) and as many as three more George. But which three? Most of his late stuff has really odd arrangements, which may not fit well with RB. "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is a no-brainer, but another late song is tricky. I'm guessing "Old Brown Shoe", plus "Don't Bother Me" for an earlier one.

Yes. I am 90% sure that the song played during Paul's concert was Birthday, see the video in Youtube and you'll see that they look almost the same. And I don't think Harmonix would use the same dreamscape for different songs. Although I think they'll include Got To Get You Into My Life.

Well, Sgt. Pepper/With a Little Help was actually released as a single, and they get played together on the radio all the time; hmx didn't combine them arbitrarily. To a lesser extent, the same was done with the Pepper Reprised/A Day in the Life. I've never heard of such a connection being made with USSR/Prudence.

And dreamscapes don't have to be abstract; anything that isn't a 'venue' would count. They seem to be drawing pretty heavily from the "I Am the Walrus" promo for that dreamscape, so they could do the same for Rain.

And Yaniv297: She Said She Said was also at the top of my list, but it won't make it for the same reason as "Rain"; too many other John songs already at the Budokan.

They've announced that late-period dlc would have their own dreamscapes, so it's reasonable that early stuff should get royal treatment as well...

Recently, I have noticed that they put on-disc, the most iconinc songs from each album. Take for example Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, they announced the most iconic songs from the albums. I'm almost sure that they'll include "Help!", but that was a good idea. Hope that Abbey Road does this.

I dunno. We haven't gotten "Please Please Me", "All My Loving", "A Hard Day's Night", "Help", "Drive My Car", "Eleanor Rigby", "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", "Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da", "Let it Be" OR "Come Together". I'd say those are the most 'iconic' songs (ie, recognizable to random people on the street) from their respective albums.

If anything, it seems to me they're holding back at least one 'big' song per album to sell dlc. But of course, there's still room to release all of the above, too ;)

Okay, here are my new predictions, based on the idea that each venue will showcase, as much as possible, each of the Beatles. I'm not suggesting that George and Ringo will be equal with John and Paul, but I think one or the other will appear in most venues. I doubt we'll get any more covers. I'm assuming we get at least one song per album and five songs per venue-- it seems pretty likely. Announced songs in cyan:

The Cavern Club (Please Please Me and early singles)
I Saw Her Standing There (Paul)
Do You Want to Know a Secret (George)
Twist and Shout (John)
She Loves You (John & Paul)
Please Please Me (John)
I'm not too sure about these. We might get "From Me to You" instead. I'm just betting against "Love Me Do" because all of the interesting bits are harmonica.

Ed Sullivan Theater (With the Beatles and A Hard Day's Night)
I Want to Hold Your Hand (John & Paul)
Can't Buy Me Love (Paul)
I Wanna Be Your Man (Ringo)
A Hard Day's Night (John & Paul)
Don't Bother Me* (George)
*His catchiest, most upbeat early original. I wanted to give him something at Shea but there's just not much to choose from.

Shea Stadium (Beatles for Sale and Help!)
I Feel Fine (John)
Eight Days a Week (John)
Ticket to Ride (John)
I'm Down (Paul)
The Night Before* (Paul)
*A shot in the dark. John really carried the group in this era, and the George and Ringo songs are particularly weak. I still think it's unlikely we'll get both "Help!" and "Ticket to Ride"

Budokan (Rubber Soul and Revolver)
And Your Bird Can Sing (John)
Day Tripper (John)
Paperback Writer (Paul)
Taxman (George)
What Goes On* (Ringo)
*His first writing credit, and miles better than "Act Naturally", though we might get that at Shae and get "Drive My Car" here instead. I could also see "Think for Yourself".

Now, the dreamscapes are trickier, because we don't know how they're being grouped, but it's likely they'll be in sets of five again. I think we need at least two more George but no more Ringo.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Paul)
With a Little Help from My Friends (Ringo)
Within You, Without You <hi NRG remixxx> (George)
Fixing a Hole (Paul)
A Day in the Life (John, with Paul)
This may be my shakiest one. I like having "A Day in the Life" as a complement to "I've Got a Feeling", with Paul guesting on John's song and vice versa. We might get "Good Morning, Good Morning" in stead. I picked "Fixing a Hole" for the guitar solo, low profile, and because John already had too many songs, but we could easily get "Lovely Rita" or "Getting Better".

Misc. Psychedelic (Magical Myster Tour and Yellow Submarine)
I am the Walrus (John)
Yellow Submarine (Ringo)
Hello, Goodbye (Paul)
Hey Bulldog (John)
Lady Madonna (Paul)
This list is may not be very accurate chronologically, but it depends on whether you go by release dates or recording dates. The Magical Myster Tour album, now part of the official cannon, was released after Sgt. Pepper's even though its singles were released before. And the material for the Yellow Sub film was recorded before The White Album, but released after. In any case, I think the songs hold together well.

The White album
Back in the USSR (Paul)
Birthday (John & Paul)
Helter Skelter (Paul)
While My Guitar Gently Weeps (George)
Happiness is a Warm Gun* (John)
*Might be "Everybody's Got Something to Hide...", but otherwise I feel pretty good about these.

The End (late singles and Abbey Road)
Revolution (John)
Octopus's Garden (Ringo)
Here Comes the Sun (George)
Hey Jude (Paul)
Old Brown Shoe* (George)
*Might be "Something", but I think they're saving it for DLC. This list is also historically dubious, since the Hey Jude/Revolution single preceded The White Album. But, they were all recorded in the same period, and you have to break them up somewhere.

Saville Row Rooftop (Let it Be)
Get Back (Paul)
I've Got a Feeling (Paul, with John)
Dig a Pony (John)
One after 909 (John & Paul)
Don't Let Me Down (John)
The original rooftop set. It fits perfectly in the framework of everything else.

Whew! Totals:
Paul: 7 + 7, incl. "I've Got a Feeling" = 14
John: 8 + 6, incl. "A Day in the Life" = 14
George: 4 + 3 = 7
Ringo: 4 + 1 = 5
John & Paul 2 + 3 = 5

Okay, I'll follow in autumnmantis's vein and do my revised predictions. Announced songs in cyan:

The Cavern Club (Please Please Me and early singles)
I Saw Her Standing There (Paul)
Do You Want to Know a Secret (George)
Twist and Shout (John)
Boys (Ringo)
Please Please Me (John)
Boys is a nice Ringo song, and, although another cover, would do well for him in the early era.

Ed Sullivan Theater (With the Beatles and A Hard Day's Night)
I Want to Hold Your Hand (John & Paul)
Can't Buy Me Love (Paul)
I Wanna Be Your Man (Ringo)
She Loves You (John & Paul)
A Hard Day's Night (John)
Couldn't find a George track from the era strong enough for inclusion. I want All My Loving to be in there too, but needed to include A Hard Day's Night, and we still have DLC.

Shea Stadium (Beatles for Sale and Help!)
I Feel Fine (John)
Eight Days a Week (John & Paul)
Ticket to Ride (John)
Help! (John)
Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby (George)
Yes, Baby's another cover, but needed a George track, and I love it. It also shows how the Beatles for Sale album had a heavy amount of covers.

Budokan (Rubber Soul and Revolver)
And Your Bird Can Sing (John)
Day Tripper (John)
Paperback Writer (Paul)
Taxman (George)
Drive My Car (Paul)
Sorry Ringo, couldn't find you any tracks here either.

Now for the dreamscapes:

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Paul)
With a Little Help from My Friends (Ringo)
Within You, Without You (George)
Getting Better (Paul)
Sgt. Pepper is such a strong album for Rock Band, so I had to exclude Lucy and A Day in the Life to allow for two anchors for a good album DLC. I wanted Good Morning Good Morning, but needed to get rid of a John song.

Misc. Psychedelic (Magical Myster Tour and Yellow Submarine)
I Am the Walrus (John)
Yellow Submarine (Ringo)
Hey Bulldog (John)
Rain (John)
Couldn't find a nice George track from this era to include. I transferred this era's 5th track to The White Album. I think Hello Goodbye will be left off to save it for an era DLC.

The White Album
Back in the USSR (Paul)
Birthday (John & Paul)
Dear Prudence (John)
Helter Skelter (Paul)
While My Guitar Gently Weeps (George)
Don't Pass Me By (Ringo)
Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey (John)
I picked Monkey over Happiness Is a Warm Gun as I think it's a stronger and more challenging song. Happiness and Blackbird will anchor a nice White Album DLC. Wouldn't be surprised if Monkey was replaced by some George track from the dreamscape era overall, like Something or Savoy Truffle. They could plot the violin and the piano early in the song as guitar for Don't Pass Me By. I really want this one, it's a nice Ringo track. Also, I think Dear Prudence will be combined with Back in the USSR like Sgt. Pepper and With A Little Help From My Friends.

The End (late singles and Abbey Road)
Revolution (John)
Octopus's Garden (Ringo)
Here Comes the Sun (George)
Come Together (John)
Oh! Darling (Paul)
Something and I Want You (She's So Heavy) will be left off to anchor the Abbey Road DLC. I took this era's 5th song and put it to The White Album because of the impending Abbey Road DLC.

Saville Row Rooftop (Let it Be)
Get Back (Paul)
I've Got a Feeling (Paul & John)
Dig a Pony (John)
One After 909 (John & Paul)
Don't Let Me Down (John)
The original rooftop set. Easy enough.

Whew! Totals:
Paul: 7 + 10 = 17
John: 6 + 4 = 10
George: 4 + 2 = 6
Ringo: 4 + 2 = 6
John & Paul 4 + 2 = 6

In the end, I wish I had more George songs and less John, but I included some songs that have good George solos in them.

I think it's really interesting that they've focused so much on the Please Please Me album. I thought at least "She Loves You" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand" would be at the Cavern, but since the latter is at Ed Sullivan who knows what they'll do with the former.

I like your list, although I'd be pretty surprised if John and Paul didn't have the exact same number of songs.

I hope I'm wrong...but songs like She Loves You,P.S I Love You and Love Me Do probably won't be included. There are no multi tracks for these songs. They have never been released in Stereo.
And I predict the Abbey Road DLC will be released on Oct. 9th...John's birthday.

According to Wikipedia, it has been released in stereo. Also, it's included in the stereo remaster releases on 9/9/9. Supposedly the new remaster will be a significant improvement to the 1987 remastering.

If it's not released within the week of the game's release, I hope they pick October 9th for its significance and to make it a consistent monthly release schedule.

I think they can make these work. All of the early stuff is just 2-track, so in the best case scenario, they're still separating bass, guitar and drums out of the same channel. They're already going through second by second, dividing each piece out. Pulling everything out of one track would be painstaking, but not impossible.

Unless they find the missing masters for SLY or LMD they never have/or ever appear in stereo. PS is in the same boat and the b-side of SLY "I'll Get You" have never been released in TRUE stereo.

Yeah, it's definitely "Birthday", and we know that we're not getting "Got to Get You into My Life" unless the game skips over Rubber Soul entirely. That scenario seems ridiculous to me-- it's a lot of people's favorite album.

Probably already mentioned somewhere but the beginning and end parts don't look like Birthday, or any other gameplay footage I've seen so far.

I can't tell what they are, but they may just be some extra footage to pad out the song in case Macca ran long live-- the recorded versions are just ten seconds apart.

Well Day Tripper was in the first batch of songs to be announced and that's from the Rubber Soul sessions, so it hasn't been skipped.

I'm going to do it too in that format. It occurred to me that the biggest separating factor will not be year, but rather complexity. The music got more difficult as time went on, but the stuff we saw at Cavern Club seems out of place unless it's just meant to be the easiest stuff. So I'm also marking ** by the song that I think will be the finale of the level.

The Cavern Club (Please Please Me and early singles)
I Saw Her Standing There (Paul)
Do You Want to Know a Secret (George)
All My Loving (Paul)
She Loves You (John & Paul)
**Twist and Shout (John)

Ed Sullivan Theater
I Want to Hold Your Hand (John & Paul)
Can't Buy Me Love (Paul)
A Hard Day's Night (John)
Ticket to Ride (John)
** I Wanna Be Your Man (Ringo)

Shea Stadium
I Feel Fine (John)
I'm A Loser (George)
Eight Days a Week (John & Paul)
Help! (John & Paul)
** I've Just Seen A Face (Paul)

Budokan
Drive My Car (Paul)
What Goes On (Ringo)
Day Tripper (John)
Taxman (George)
And Your Bird Can Sing (John)
** Paperback Writer (Paul)

At this point, it's got to be clear that Rubber Soul is GOING to be the second DLC. It's by far the least represented of the major albums.

Now for the dreamscapes:

Sgt. Pepper
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Paul)
With a Little Help from My Friends (Ringo)
Within You Without You (George)
Good Morning Good Morning (John)
**A Day In The Life (John & Paul) (/Sgt Pepper Reprise?)

With so much of Sgt Pepper already confirmed and quite a bit of Sgt Pepper pretty crappy as a format for the game, I'm betting this won't be DLC for a good long while, if ever. So I think all the big songs will be out now.

Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine
Yellow Submarine (Ringo)
Lady Madonna (Paul)
Strawberry Fields Forever (John)
**I Am the Walrus (John)

The White Album
Back in the USSR (Paul)
Birthday (John & Paul)
Dear Prudence (John)
While My Guitar Gently Weeps (George)
**Helter Skelter (Paul)

The End (late singles and Abbey Road)
Revolution (John)
Octopus's Garden (Ringo)
Here Comes the Sun (George)
Hey Jude (Paul)
** I Want You (She's So Heavy) (John)

I Want You makes a ton of sense in the game if you think about what in Abbey Road makes a good challenge song (knowing that the medley has been named as DLC).

Saville Row Rooftop (Let it Be)
Get Back (Paul)
I've Got a Feeling (Paul & John)
Dig a Pony (John)
One After 909 (John & Paul)
Don't Let Me Down (John)
The original rooftop set. Easy enough.

Whew! Totals:
Paul: 7 + 6 = 13
John: 6 + 8 = 14
George: 4 + 2 = 6
Ringo: 4 + 1 = 5
John & Paul 4 + 3 = 7

I don't think that songwriters or singers will matter that much in the end. I think that everyone needs to have their best stuff included, and I think that is happening. It gets hard once you get to this level.

But the list has to balance:

Featured Members
Albums
Difficulty
Venues
Styles
Popularity

Not an enviable task. Hard to guess, harder to put together.

There are two songs which are really confirmed for the game without being announced: One After 909 and Don't Let Me Down. Otherwise the last set won't make any sense. So we can confirm that there is another John and another John/Paul song to the songs already confirmed confirmed. I would keep that in mind when thinking up your setlists, which leads into...

The next thing you have to look at is getting a balance of songs for each member. As Chael said, if you want balance you must have WMGGW. And, as such, I would say you have to add another Ringo track to balance it, which would be Don't Pass Me By. However, I must agree with vcalzone that you also have to balance in the sound and complexity of songs, which lead to the possibility of Good Morning Good Morning, I Want You (She's So Heavy), and Helter Skelter. I still think they'll save I Want You for DLC.

I think "What Goes On" is more likely than "Don't Pass Me By" because Ringo co-wrote it, it appears on an under-represented album, and Ringo already has three dreamscapes (but just one tour song). I hate that it bumps off "Drive My Car" from Budokan, but the omission will help sell Rubber Soul dlc.

I'm also surprised at the number of lists that give Ringo the same number of songs as George. George sang a lot more than Ringo did, starting with the Help! album.

hardb0dy
08-03-2009, 02:54 PM
I also agree that Ringo won't have as much songs as George will. George wrote a lot more than Ringo did and it should be reflected in the game. I would expect to see If I Needed Someone instead of What Goes On. George thoroughly enjoyed Rubber Soul and Revolver and it would be great if we got two of his songs from that time period.

It's weird that we haven't heard "If I Needed Someone" talked about more, because it's probably George's most popular after the 'holy four' of "Taxman", "...Gently Weeps", "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun". The instrumentation is a little light for this game, but it's got some great harmony.

If I Needed Someone was the ONLY song of George's that they ever played on tour. It would be a real shame if it didn't make the game though, being replaced by Taxman instead. As far as I know, Taxman was never played on tour.

Budokan (Rubber Soul and Revolver)
And Your Bird Can Sing (John)
Day Tripper (John)
Paperback Writer (Paul)
Taxman (George)
If I Needed Someone (George)

Misc. Psychedelic (Magical Myster Tour and Yellow Submarine)
I Am the Walrus (John)
Yellow Submarine (Ringo)
Hello, Goodbye (Paul)
Strawberry Fields Forever (John)
Magical Mystery Tour (Paul)

I really really want While My Guitar Gently Weeps and A Day In The Life. BADLY.

As for your other choices, I chose Hey Bulldog because it's one of my most favorite Beatles songs. I wouldn't mind getting rid of Lady Madonna though and I think MMT is more likely than SFF though I would rather have SFF.

I wouldn't mind getting What Goes On for the fifth song at Budokan, but that would get rid of Drive My Car on my setlist, further diminishing the Paul-to-John ratio, and would then probably eliminate Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey from the John songs and add Blackbird for Paul or a late era George track.

I was thinking of adding Magical Mystery Tour to my list, but there's so much more horns in that song compared to guitar. The drums on that song would be fun, but, of that and Strawberry Fields Forever, SFF would be more fun for both drums and guitar. And I don't think Hello Goodbye will join the game on-disc because, to be put simply, it's a boring song. I'd much rather a Paul track like Oh! Darling or Getting Better instead.

That's the problem with including both "Help!" and "Ticket to Ride". It throws the ratio off. As for psychedelic-era Paul, it's tricky. How do you celebrate instrumental adventurousness when you just have guitars and drums? I figured "I Am the Walrus" had to be matched with something from MMT, and favored "Hello Goodbye" over "Penny Lane" and "Magical Mystery Tour". Who knows what they'll do.

I'm hoping for it, but I admit that "Good Morning, Good Morning" has a good chance as well. I was surprised by the number of 'big' songs I had to leave off when I did my over-analyzed playlist prediction, but then I realized, the more 'big' songs they leave off, the more DLC people will demand, the more songs I get. If they put all the hits on disc, we'll wind up with much less in the long run.

They have to announce a schedule up front, though. Releasing the disc and not announcing a date when a song like Yesterday or Hey Jude will be released as DLC will get them beat up in reviews. People will understand not putting them on the disc as long as they know for sure they can get it.

At least announce there will be a new DLC pack every month. I'd hate for them to just randomly and sporadically say a week before "oh, yeah, DLC's coming", I'd rather something like is already present on the regular series where we know there will be DLC every week.

Exarctly. We don't know what is coming out for DLC from week to week, but we know it's coming every week. That consistency makes the anticipation of what will be announced every Friday pretty cool. Wouldn't it suck to be like Guitar Hero, never sure whether you're getting a real update or a hastily thrown together pack of bands you've never heard of? If they want to release it on an album-by-album basis, fine, but make it an album (or track pack) released on a schedule so we can build up the proper level of anticipation.

And again, I am predicting Rubber Soul to be the second one released. If not, it's really irritating to not have more songs in the game from that album.

I don't think they will announce what album/pack is coming out when. What I would expect to find out is how often DLC is coming out. I'm hopeful they will say something about this in the next announcement.

Well, what about Help!? Everyone has assumed that a couple of big songs from that album just haven't been announced yet, but maybe they're saving it for a movie-inspired dlc. (Please?)

I'm trying not to expect too much from the DLC, but with how much detail they've lavished on the base game, it's difficult.

Also, it looks like "Rain", "She Said She Said", and "Tomorrow Never Knows"-- all in high demand-- aren't making the disc, so I'm hoping for a Revlover-era DLC as soon as possible, too.

My number one pick would be:

It's All Too Much.

This song has a great groove but no one ever talks about it. It's definitely a "sleeper" song.

I really, really, really hope that Hey Bulldog is on the disc. It is a great and mostly overlooked song by the Beatles.

I just re-listened to It's All Too Much, and this could be that late-era George track needed to balance everything out. The drums on it are crazy awesome too. However, it's bad that Hey Bulldog is also on Yellow Submarine, because that would mean three songs on-disc and one confirmed DLC from what's basically a 5-song EP, even though the title song was also on Revolver and All You Need Is Love is also a single.

Man, we've ben 'round and 'round on this one. There is acoustic guitar through most of it. It's totally do-able.

It is do-able but it will be pretty boring on the instruments. I'm not an expert player. Difficulty doesn't matter to me. I just feel like there are better songs out there. (That involve guitars AND drums more prominently).

That being said, I think it WILL be on the disc as it was their most popular song.

When referring to the YELLOW SUBMARINE album, I only consider the 4 then-previously unreleased songs ("Only a Northern Song," "All Together Now," "Hey Bulldog," and "It's All Too Much"). I'd love to see both of the latter two included, but that seems pretty unlikely ("IATM" is perhaps the most underrated Beatles song ever).

As others have mentioned, HELP! and RUBBER SOUL are still not represented (though "Day Tripper" is from the RS sessions), but I'm sure that will change. If we want to get technical, there's also nothing from the "Long Tall Sally" EP, either. I think the title track would be a good choice (it was basically Paul's "Twist and Shout").

Here's the rest of my wish list (there's 30 songs listed, but I don't care):

"Please Please Me"
"It Won't Be Long"
"All I've Got to Do"
"Long Tall Sally"
"A Hard Day's Night"
"Things We Said Today"
"You Can't Do That"
"Ticket to Ride"
"Dizzy Miss Lizzie"
"Drive My Car"
"The Word"
"Think for Yourself"
"Rain"
"Strawberry Fields Forever"
"Getting Better"
"Good Morning, Good Morning"
"Magical Mystery Tour"
"Hello, Goodbye"
"It's All Too Much"
"Hey Bulldog"
"Lady Madonna"
"Dear Prudence"
"While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
"Helter Skelter"
"Don't Let Me Down"
"Two of Us"
"Old Brown Shoe"
"Come Together"
"Oh! Darling"
"You Never Give Me Your Money"

Here are my guesses (and wishes) for the final 20, and songs that I think would be fun to play:

All My Loving
Hard Day's Night
Help!
Act Naturally
Baby's in Black
I Don't Want To Spoil The Party
You're Going To Lose That Girl
Drive My Car
The Word
Rain
Hey Bulldog
Getting Better
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Helter Skelter
Dear Prudence
Happyness is a Warm Gun
The Ballad of John & Yoko
Don't Let Me Down
Hello, Goodbye
Hey Jude

Wow - it's really tough to narrow this down to 20!

If we want to get technical, there's also nothing from the "Long Tall Sally" EP, either.

But the Long Tall Sally EP isn't a cannon release. They cleaned up their catalog in 1983, rejecting some 'original' releases (such as LTS) and adopting some non-originals (like the Magical Mystery Tour LP). As of now, Rubber Soul and Help! are the only unrepresented cannon albums.

Given that the guy from Gamestop said that they just sent out shirts that said "Help If You Need Someone", I'll take that as confirmation that they'll be on the game. Also, the warning about tobacco references and the use of the final chord at the end of the introduction seems to mean we will very likely get A Day In The Life.

Not to nit-pick (you've obviously put a lot of thought in this BUT, George didn't do "I'm a Loser".

Also the main page says "other venues". If "Abbey Road Studio" is the venue for dreamscapes, There must be another venue or two coming. I suspect something to do with "Help" (movie wise) and possibly "Hard Days Night".

They have to announce a schedule up front, though. Releasing the disc and not announcing a date when a song like Yesterday or Hey Jude will be released as DLC will get them beat up in reviews. People will understand not putting them on the disc as long as they know for sure they can get it.

... and I don't think Gamestop T-shirts are the avenue hmx is taking to release info. I'm sure those two songs were used because they 'cleverly' paraphrase a typical retail shirt. A t-shirt that said "For No One... Run for Your Life!" wouldn't have the same effect.

Also, I'd put "Hard Day's Night" as a strongly suggested, since it's highlighted in the cinematic.

BTW, both John AND Paul sing "Day Tripper"; Paul sings the 'Got a good reason'/'She's a big teaser'/'Tried to please her' lines by himself. John merely wrote the song.

I think Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey is a done deal...

1) It's awesome. The guitar is all over the place throughout the whole song, and the bass isn't far behind. The vocals are difficult too.

2) I remember reading an interview with HMX back in the days of Guitar Hero 2 and they said they wanted to include a song by the beatles but were unable to secure licensing. The developer said they had wanted to include Everybody's Got Something to Hide... because it was an awesome song and it wouldn't be what people were expecting.

I think that kind of thinking will carry over to this game. I'm counting on it.

The Cavern Club (Please Please Me and early singles)
All My Loving (Paul)

That song was played at the Ed Sullivan Theater. But then again, so was I Saw Her Standing There and She Loves You. I think All My Loving would be at the Ed Sullivan venue in the game, while She Loves You would be at the Cavern Club.

"All My Loving" was released after the Beatles's last show at the Cavern, although it was written just before. I think should be at Ed Sullivan, since that's where "I Want to Hold Your Hand" will be and it clearly preceded "All My Loving".

However, Paul already has "Can't Buy Me Love", half of "I Want to Hold Your Hand", plus half of the semi-confirmed "A Hard Day's Night", so I don't think AML will make the game.

If they don't mind breaking the chronology a bit, they could put AML at Shae; Paul's contributions to Help! and Beatles for Sale were a little weaker than John's. Granted, they didn't actually play it there, but they didn't play "Eight Days a Week" there either.

As usual, I will bow to your insight. Please Please Me is a track that I'd left off with a pretty killer drum track for the early stuff. It would fit about as well as any at Cavern Club. I will predict that instead.

I'm really hoping for Please Please Me over Love Me Do-- I think it's an all-around more sophisticated song, and the guitars carry the arrangement (rather than harmonica).
