View Full Version : Multiple Users on PS3 / Leaderboard question

I've been scumming the boards and haven't found my question answered, so here goes.

My husband and I recently got Rockband for the PS3. Hooray for birthday gifts!! :D

So far I've been creating Avitars (drum, guitar and vocal) under his login so we could form bands together. Unfortunately on the Leaderboards everything shows up under his login. Is there a way to make a second login for myself so I can get on the leaderboards?

So the real question is, if I run the solo career under my own login can I use the same Avitars to play in a band with my husband?

Thanks for any help!

I'm going to assume it works in the same manner as the xbox360 version, and that is:

Characters are linked to logins. If you create a new login, you would have to sign in under that login to use the characters created with it, and you would only be able to play the characters you create under it. That would mean that you would need to recreate your avatars.

I believe you would then be able to use both accounts in Band World Tour... this i'm unsure of, but you should be able to check that rather quickly after you create your account and a character.

I own a PS3.

Create a new user (on the PS3 user menu) and create your own PSN account.

I actually wanted to ask a similar question - yes you can log in as another user and start up rock band for that user, but there seems to be two things missing - one is being able to switch users from inside rock band, and the other is being able to have each player logged in to their own account. For example, there doesn't seem to be any way for me to be logged in as the drummer and my girlfriend logged in as the guitarist. It's one account for everything. From what I hear, the 360 can log in individual accounts per instrument.....

Can anyone verify whether there's a way to do that for the PS3?

Just like to bump this to the first page, since I think it's a question that hasn't been talked about before (as far as I've seen).

I'm affraid not :( One thing is to create several different avatar all with different names, but when it comes to leaderboards on the PSN only your PSN id is the one the counts...

Like somebody said, create another user in XMB with your own PSN id if you want your name to shine amongst the RockBand greats

Another problem you'll run into is that the DLC is not available on other accounts. So if you download a song for Hubby, then log into your account, it will not be there for you to play on the Wifes account.

I'm pretty sure that's not true. I've shared RB DLC with other people, and they don't have to be logged in with the account that downloaded it.

Can't the 360 have each player in the band log in with their gamer tag? Why is that available for the 360 and not the PS3? Is it a weakness in the PSN that the whole machine gets a login? From what I've seen, I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.

Yes the leaderboard only shows the PSN ID, not the individual avatar you created.

I did an experiment. I wanted to find out if I have 2 guitar players, whose score would show up on the leaderboard. At first I thought it would take the higher-score guy, but it does not. It takes the first person I created. So even though my 2nd character has a higher score, her score isn't taken into account.

The catch is I don't know if there are other criteria, like which player played the most songs, or most songs on the highest level, most hours.....

Anybody has a better idea?

As long as it's on the PS3 you'll be able to play the DLC regardless of the account your logged into.
