I finally went online with Rock Band last night (Hey, trip to Cancun took away from a lot of time with the game) and I have now learned that Harmonix are not only the masters of rhythm games, but they should be teaching a lot of other companies how to do online stuff. After waits of 20-25 minutes to get a game going on GH3 (as well as Forza 2), seeing "Session No Longer Available" and "Unable to Connect", Rock Band has shown me what I should have seen this whole time. I never waited more than a minute for a game, even when putting together a band for Band Quick Play (admittedly, never had a vocalist, but I don't think that's the game's fault), Score Duels worked flawlessly, and the whole experience was a breath of fresh air when every game I've had struggles to work online.
Kudos, Harmonix. You did it right. It's painless and almost feels like it runs itself. Microsoft really should pay you guys to give seminars to other companies on how to do it right. I have found a new addiction in online gaming, one I haven't seen since Counter Strike came out. It is Rock Band.
